The objectives in Power2Power aim to foster a holistic, digitized pilot line approach by accelerating the transition of ideas to innovations in the Power Electronic Components and Systems domain. In the course of this project, the international leadership of the European industry in this segment will be strengthened by means of a digitized pilot line approach along the supply chain located entirely in Europe; working together with multiple organizations, combining different disciplines and knowledge areas in the heterogeneous power-ECS environment. Only these comprehensive efforts will allow reaching a high-volume production of smart power electronics to change the market towards energy-efficient applications to meet the carbon dioxide reduction goals of the European Union. Consequently, economic growth and Tackling grand societal challenges “Energy” and “Mobility” lead to safeguarding meaningful jobs for European citizens. Silicon-based power solutions will outperform new materials (SiC, GaN) for many more years in terms of cost-to-performance-ratio and reliability. Thus, the Silicon-based power solutions will keep innovating and growing the upcoming years. On a long run the project Power2Power will significantly impact the path to the industrial ambition of value creation by digitizing manufacturing and development in Europe. It fully supports this vision by addressing key topics of both pillars “Key Applications” and “Essential Capabilities”. By positioning Power2Power as innovation action, a clear focus on exploitation of the expected result is a primary goal. Smart energy utilization with highly efficient power semiconductor-based electronics is key in carefully utilizing the scarce resources. Energy generation, energy conversion and smart actors are these application domains where advanced high voltage power semiconductor components primarily impact the path toward winning innovations.

With the project, EUC Lillebælt has developed and strengthened our educations and given the vocational educations a boost. We can help attract more students to VET and meet business demand for apprentices and skilled labor, as well as their need for continuing education. For EUC Lillebælt, it has been an investment in both staff and materials. The project included three professional groups as it was intended to from the time of the application. The project counted 13 people; 8 basic subject teachers, 4 blacksmith teachers, and 1 goldsmith teacher, all have achieved a boost of competence. The schoolteachers of basic subjects worked with the pedagogical approach to their respective subjects, which included English, social studies, Danish, mathematics, physics and science. They worked with didactics and methodology and with target group orientation. The course was based on the subject of English, which was natural since it took place in Scotland, but common was the focus on communication-promoting teaching and a business-relevant and business-integrating content. New materials and new approaches to teaching have been developed because of the project. The project part for trade teachers in the meatal profession contributed to the teachers update on development and having a secure and calculated knowledge of new technology within the industry. The teachers were equipped to match the development within welding technology, knowledge and ensure that the students are introduced to quality assurance by welding through data. The course has been very rewarding and the blacksmith teachers have taken it upon themselves to be productive in the development of teaching materials and further expand the knowledge they have acquired. It has been a succes beyond all expectation. The completed course for the goldsmith teacher has provided knowledge about a precious metal that does not get much attention in the precious metals industry. It has given the subject teacher a greater insight.Overall, the complete project has provided renewed professionalism in the form of greater professional insight, acquisition of new technology and know-how, pedagogical, didactic and methodological attention, greater target group knowledge and ultimately all contributes to a boost of VET educations.
