In developing the ADVICE project proposal, the intention was to design, test, and implement a practical resource for the promotion clean sport by grassroots coaches. The mechanism identified for driving this change was the education of grassroots coaches. In other words, the ADVICE mobile application aimed to increase grassroots coaches’ knowledge of doping and help reduce any favourable attitudes to doping, by upskilling both, existing and new grassroots coaches. The central element of the ADVICE project is the mobile application we developed. It offers education on how grassroots coaches can promote clean and fair sport among young athletes. The ADVICE mobile application draws upon the latest research in regards to the factors that influence whether you athletes will dope, expertise in psychology, education, anti-doping, and policy. This resulted in the ADVICE mobile application containing the following modules:Introduction: This module explained the purpose of the mobile application.Fair Play: The module provides content and reflective exercises on how grassroots coaches can promote fair play among young athletes.Substances: This module provided information on what prohibited substances are and how coaches can spot the tell-tale signs of athletes who dope, and the side effects of prohibited substances. Nutritional Supplements: Information was provided on what nutritional supplements are, the most widely used nutritional supplements, the dangers of nutritional supplements, and recommendations that coaches could give their young athletes if they are asked questions about nutritional supplements.Rules: The rules module included information on the responsibility of coaches, drug testing procedures, what constitutes a doping offence, and information on what will happen if an athlete fails a drugs test.Support: This module provided information on how a coaches can create a sporting environment that is linked to positive sporting values, being a supportive coach, encouraging fair play, how to encourage parents to support their children, and how the coach should behave when there a rumours of drug taking among the athletes he or she coaches.

These micro enterprises (MEnts) are responsible for 30% and 21% of the overall employment and value added in the EU, respectively. However, when it refers to the imminent General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)’s application, MEnts are the most vulnerable due to their lack of expertise and resources to invest in their adoption. It is urgent to develop solutions that assist MEnts in smoothly adopting the GDPR, safeguarding the interests of the EU citizens on data privacy and security, avoiding the negative socioeconomic consequences entailed to breaches for MEnts, and, by extension, benefitting the European society. SMOOTH project addresses this challenge from two complementary focuses: 1) Creating awareness on the importance of being compliant with the GDPR, as many MEnts ignore their obligations in this respect, involving as partners Data Protection Authorities and associations representing EU MEnts. For the same purpose, SMOOTH will deliver a practical GDPR interactive handbook (website and mobile app) tailored specifically to MEnts. 2) Assisting MEnts to effectively adopt and comply with the GDPR. The SMOOTH cloud platform will use machine learning, text and data mining, and advance online auditing methods to automatically create a bespoke GDPR compliance report for the most critical aspects to MEnts. Likewise, SMOOTH will provide useful materials for solving those identified aspects of the GDPR that are not properly covered. All this will positively contribute to citizens rights, while avoiding potential fines for the MEnts that may account for as much as 4% of the annual income, according to the GDPR. SMOOTH is born from technology partners and data protection authorities and will be designed and validated by actual MEnts with the aim of becoming the reference tool platform for them to adopt the GDPR.

It is expected that stakeholders, policy makers, and end users adapt to them as soon as possible. This, however, might be hard, especially for SMEs. PANELFIT is firmly committed to facilitating this adaptation process by producing a set of editable, open access Guidelines, validated by two data protection agencies. Once produced, they will serve as operational standards able to reduce the ethical and legal issues posed by ICT technologies while promoting innovation and market growth, enabling high-quality job creation and ensuring an adequate level of privacy and security/cybersecurity. Furthermore, we will produce a complementary set of six outcomes to 1) suggest possible concrete improvements to the current regulatory and governance framework, both at the EU and the national level, 2) create mutual learning and support tools and to promote networking among stakeholders and policy makers and 3) increase the quantity and quality of the information available to policy makers, professionals, researchers, journalists and the public. All these outcomes will be produced by a co-creation process involving policy makers, stakeholders, and end-users. They will all participate in the creation of the main outcomes of the project through a range of engagement activities that includes workshops, public consultations, encounters, surveys, etc. This will be combined with a strong communication and dissemination strategy that includes numerous activities, such as webinars, MOOC courses, public debates, a constant use of a web site and social networks and the creation of a Platform for Mutual Learning, which is meant to become the reference forum for the discussion of the issues at stake even after the end of the project. The participation in PANELFIT of the European Data Journalism Network, with an aggregated web audience of almost 70 million monthly visits will help us reach this aim.

Despite the well-recognized benefits of physical activity (PA), only 29% of European youth meet recommended guidelines of at least 60 minutes of daily moderate-to-vigorous PA. The school setting provides an ideal environment to promote healthy lifestyles among young people as initiatives can target all students and the whole school community. The main goal of this project is to design and implement a comprehensive set of strategies and resources to enable the educational community to promote healthy lifestyles in order to reduce risk factors for non-communicable diseases. This is a 3-year project delivered by a collaboration between academic and non-governmental institutions from Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The direct beneficiaries of the project will include school leaders, teachers, and parents, and indirect beneficiaries will be primary and secondary students. EUMOVE project will develop a set of strategies and resources such as Physically Active Lessons Toolkit, Real Time Active Breaks Platform, Active School Commuting Toolkit, Learning Units about healthy lifestyles promotion, School Leaders toolkit, Parents Toolkit about promoting healthy lifestyles, and Mobile phone APP. Project dissemination will be implemented across each partner region and includes: Online dissemination through a Learning Platform, Scientific Seminars aimed at teachers and researchers, Workshops with teachers including training on how to use the teaching resources, and Workshops with parents providing recommendations for promoting healthy lifestyle in their children. Thus, the EUMOVE project offers evidence-based and innovative resources to be applied by the educational community in the real-world setting to promote PA levels, appropriate diet and sleep habits, and reduce sedentary time amongst children and adolescents across a number of European countries.
