The project on ‘EU Investment Law’ will consist of 3 elements: the teaching program, including 3 annual events/seminars, 1 annual workshop and research activities. The teaching program will be offered every year throughout the lifetime of the project and will be composed of 18 lectures (two-hour long) and 3 events/seminars (each 2-hour long). The annual workshop will be four-hour long. These hours will be additional to the hours of the teaching program: the 36-hour long course of lectures of EU Investment Law (a new optional course) and the 6-hours of the 3 events/seminars. The aim of the proposed Jean Monnet Module on ‘EU Investment Law’ is to fill a gap in the teaching and research activities carried out at the University of Teramo (UNITE) for the benefit of any student, as well as of academics, organized civil society, professionals, particularly in enterprises, policy-makers, especially local and regional ones, and all those interested in current trends and developments of EU law and policy framework on investment within and outside the EU internal market. The need of this field of study and research, at the local, regional, national and international levels, has become evident, because EU has been a significant player of the international investment arena, since the 2008 outbreak of the world-wide economic crises. The ‘active learning’ method will be used to allow students and whoever may be interested in the course of lectures and in the events to become aware of the speciality of EU investment law. The didactic materials, presentations, questionnaires, calls for papers and/or slides will be uploaded to the website on ‘EU Investment Law’, that will be set up for the effective implementation of the project, and, in part, to the UNITE digital platform 'Patto con lo studente' that has been re-named 'UNITE E-learning Platform' (available on the homepage of the UNITE website, unite.it). The access to this Platform is open for everyone. UNITE students and academic members have also the opportunity to get access through their usernames and passwords. The results of the research activities will be published in an open-access peer-reviewed e-book and in a few open-access peer-reviewed journals. Besides the website, the Newsletter on ‘EU Investment Law’ will be used for monitoring, disseminating and exploiting the results of the proposed project. The priority target groups of the proposal are composed of the students of UNITE Faculty of Communication Science and any other student “who do not automatically come into contact with EU studies”, because his/her studies “have limited exposure to but are increasingly affected by European aspects”. Another reason why the teaching programme will be integrated into the degree courses of UNITE Faculty of Communication Science is that this Faculty has planned to introduce more relevant law courses, especially EU law-oriented courses. At present, the teaching offer of such a Faculty focuses on economics, communication capacity-building, management, arts and languages. The course of lectures and the events of the proposed project will also be open to the public, particularly to policy-makers, practitioners, civil servants and organized civil society (the supplementary target group), in order to “foster the dialogue” between them and the academic world. These are the chief expected ‘academic added values’ of this proposal. As to the added value of the proposal at the regional and national levels, it is important to point out that a few other Italian universities offer courses of lectures on International Economic Law or International Trade Law that also cover international investment law, but not a specific course of lectures on ‘EU investment law‘.

COMMO is a consortium of national partners and it consists of UNIMED, which is the coordinator, and 21 Italian Universities. Several Universities from partner countries have benefitted and benefit from the activities of this consortium, namely Albania, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia. During the first edition of COMMO, two Universities from Partner Countries are involved in the exchanges with the Italian Universities of the consortium: the Mediterranean University of Podgorica (Montenegro) and the European University of Tirana (Albania). All the above mentioned Universities are current members of UNIMED network. During the two years of the project, started in 2015, COMMO has achieved 23 mobility to and from the Universities of Montenegro and Albania. All these activities are financed by the program Erasmus + KA107, except for one mobility outgoing with “zero grant”, financed by University of Calabria.Among these exchanges, 3 mobility have involved both incoming and outgoing students from the European University of Tirana (1 outgoing) and University of Teramo (2 incoming), while the other 20 mobility have involved the staff from the partners of Montenegro and Albania and, among the Italians, University of Bari, University of Foggia, University of Messina, University of Catania, Pegaso on-line University, University of Calabria, University of Teramo, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and IULM.The mobility of students (both 1st and 2nd cycle) were carried out with the aim of research for thesis, thus not leading to the achievement of any European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). Among the objectives accomplished by the project we may mention the following:Contributing to the improvement of the international dimension of education and training, in particular through cooperation among higher education institutions in Italy and the Balkans;Supporting students in acquiring skills (as learning new languages) in order to develop their academic profile and ensure new job opportunities;Aiming to a deeper understanding of the Balkan culture, providing the opportunity to actively participate in the country's social life;Facilitating and simplifying administrative, bureaucratic and organizational management of mobility activities both in the preparatory and exploitation phases of mobility.Concerning the activities carried out, during the preparatory phase, the inter-institutional agreements were drafted and signed; the faculties have been selected; agreements have been established among UNIMED, participants and all the partner organizations. Participants have been provided with adequate cultural preparation. During the exchanges, all the beneficiaries were constantly followed by an assigned tutor and provided with adequate logistical support in finding accommodation or managing documentation for insurance purposes. This aspect is very important and it highlights the role of UNIMED providing all the necessary help to the beneficiary of exchanges, and both to the sending and hosting universities. Concerning the mobility for studies, all the students were accompanied by a tutoring service to monitor their stay abroad. They were helped also in several logistical aspects (accommodation, information on research activities, approach to the local culture and so on). In this phase, the key-actors involved – mainly UNIMED but also the Universities partners- are working to analyse the overall assessments of the exchanges beneficiaries' activities and to disseminate the project results. The project has contributed to increasing the international dimension of the Universities involved, improving their capacity for international cooperation. All the consortium partners have benefited from the transfer of new knowledge and have enriched their cultural background thanks to these new experiences of exchanges. These mobility of both students and staff led the faculties and the departments of the hosting universities to adapt and improve their procedures for receiving the participants. The consortium will continue to benefit from the experience of these international programs and to strengthen the possibility of collaborating in new ones with the same members of the consortium. COMMO has also contributed to the development of international and institutional networking. Indeed, during the project, the universities have been in close contact and this has led to the development of new long-term collaborations. Lastly, the inter-institutional agreements and the other documents signed among all the partners leave a trail of the relationships built during the project and they will remain in force even after the end of the project. Moreover, the nature of the consortium meant that some staff mobility took place during the same period, thus providing a shared bonding experience for both beneficiaries and the other key actors involved.

The main objective of the European Doctorate in Biology and Technology of the Reproductive Health (REP-BIOTECH) is to build a research, training and academic programme in the interdisciplinary domain of reproductive health and fertility. Basic knowledge of mechanisms involved in mammalian fertilization and embryo development provides useful strategies to improve food quality (by implementation of efficient and secure animal reproductive technologies), human health (by contributing to the control of reproductive diseases and epidemiologic factors) and human and animal fertility (by identifying target molecules for successful conception or contraception). REP-BIOTECH is a PhD programme with the aim of training a new generation of creative, entrepreneurial and innovative Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs). ESRs must carry out independent research on a specific topic to be awarded a European Joint Degree from 5 European Universities (Beneficiaries). The PhD project will be jointly supervised within a joint governance structure in which the beneficiaries as well as the partner organisations will be actively involved. The Doctorate programme will expose ESRs to different sectors and they will acquire a comprehensive set of transferable skills working in the specific research area relating to their doctoral thesis. The consortium has a proven track record in their area and they have a history of fruitful scientific collaboration. Moreover, giving the diversity amongst the participating institutions, the ESRs will be able to face current and future challenges in order to convert knowledge and ideas into products and services for economic and social benefit. The strength of the partnership lies in being a multidisciplinary group (animal and human fertility, reproductive health and reproductive technologies) within the cooperation of 7 different European countries, the collaboration of Universities from Japan and United States and partners from the non academic sector.
