Unbalanced land use over different climatic zones creates more areas with depleted soil useless for agriculture which in consequence creates more negative social, economic and climate changes. That’s why preventive action and acting in symbiosis all over the world is necessary to keep our land and habitats healthy. Having partners from different geographical parts of Europe and Africa will bring together ideas and experience which will help us to understand the problem from global point of view and to contribute to fulfilling our objectives. The aim of the YE is to raise awareness and motivate young people to act on problems of desertification and other climate changes by introducing sustainable practices. Participants have already expressed the need to gain the knowledge and practices for recycling, reusing and reducing the waste which is also the base of circular economy. By implementing the techniques of circular economy we can create more job opportunities, turn the desert back into fertile areas for agriculture and stop displacing of the people of Sahara because of desertification. So the objectives are following:To raise awareness about the problem of desertification. To encourage young people to act locally to combat desertification and climate change and to empower them to act as agents of change for environmental and sustainable developmentTo learn about traditional ways and materials our ancestors were using before introduction of plastics and chemical fertilizers. To introduce the techniques to effectively recycle and reuse our resources in daily lifeto meet with local activist from the field of desertification and discuss with them the best practices to tackle these problemsto create online awareness campaigns and exchange ideas to raise awareness of the people about environmental issuesto raise awareness of young people about new ways of creating entrepreneurship ideas which are directly or indirectly related to the development of the circular economy<< Activities >>The Youth Exchange will take place in Nefta, Tunisia and we will host 40 young people from 8 different countries there (Germany, Tunisia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and Bulgaria. The chosen participants have shown interest in the topic and dedication to create the project to tackle to problems of desertification and climate changes. APV will take one month before the youth exchange and will gather 8 youth leaders and workers.<< Impact >>We expect that participants will gain the knowledge about desertification, recycling, sustainable practices and circular economy which they will bring back to their home countries and multiply inside and outside of their organisations. They will become the ambassadors of the change of the approach towards environmental problems, but also towards participation of young people in civic life. This will in long run help to reverse the desertification of arable land in MEDA area and prevent it from happening in other countries.
