CEAP is certified by Regional authorities for providing training in the fields of Lifelong Learning, higher education and Initial Vocational Training, entering the Italian net of certified vocational training centres. The project will provide three mobility flows: to Germany in November 2017, to Spain in March 2018 and to Germany in May 2019. The project’s promoter already tested an excellent partnership with the organizations involved, developed during several years of mutual exchange and research projects. The international partners are Vocational Training Centres specialized in construction workers’ education and training with high quality levels both in theoretical and practical learning processes. Most of the students involved in the project will come from miserable educational experiences and therefore unmotivated towards traditional learning methods. The project, which stems from the will to repeat the success of previous similar practices, will be an important chance for them to experience a new way of learning that they could probably never otherwise access or afford. One of the main aims of the projects is to provide high-qualified training to support the construction industry with the standards of energy efficiency and environmental protection, considering those as necessary values in a modern and aware market. Therefore, the training of participants will be focused on the latest construction techniques, the most advanced in the innovation process of the construction industry. The students will improve their skills and knowledge about Green Building techniques both through the preparatory activities performed by the sending institution and through direct experience in the hosting countries, regarded as excellences in Europe. One of the most expected outcomes is the promotion of a new way of learning, perceived as development of important values and self-improvement, rather than inflicted hard work. The possibility of sharing personal skills will enhance students’ self-esteem and the work experience will provide them new ideas about their life project, with the possibility to measure themselves with positive and successful professional figures. In addition, the improvement of a foreign language knowledge will help them to better understand new and different cultures. The learning process will involve cultures, structures, production aspects but, first and foremost, personal resources spent in an educational path. The mobility duration will be set in two weeks’ time, mainly because of the young age of the students involved (most of them are minors), but also because the mobility experience will take place during the school year. Tutors and trainers will guarantee ongoing assistance both in terms of learning process and discipline issues and they will guide the group also in cultural and recreational activities; they will lead the group through every activity in cooperation with the hosting organizations. The mobility itself will be an essential part of the school program, assessed with the same principles used in the internal system. ECVET criteria will be used to certify the LOs achieved. In addition to the Europass Mobility and the certificate issued by hosting partners, the trainees will receive a personal “Vocational Training Building Booklet” recognized at national level and coordinated by Formedil, which certifies all long-life learning attended, divided per unit of competence. The mobility experience will be also recorded on the Vocational Qualification Certificate issued by the Veneto Region, which certifies the attainment of the qualification and the activities carried out abroad will be recognized within the curriculum in terms of training credits units.

Any longer would be too long as some students are still quite young and may not have been away from home before. Students are also unable to undertake longer placements as it is essential that they have enough time at college to complete their course work/assignments etc. Accompanying staff are unable to be away from the classroom for any longer due to teaching commitments. All participants will undertake work placement opportunities within their chosen industry, relevant to their UK course together with educational/cultural trips within the local regions. The placements will enhance their studies and provide valuable experience which will increase their knowledge and develop their skills. It will add value and contribute to their courses and qualifications as it will allow them to undertake and be assessed for modules within their qualifications, whilst providing them with the experience of working in another country and improving their language skills. It will allow students to broaden their horizons and provide them with an experience that they would otherwise not have. Students will learn more about other cultures and get a greater understanding of what it is like to live and work in a different country. This will add value to the students course by allowing them to see how specialists in other countries may view things. It will also add value to their vocational studies by providing them with the opportunity to learn new skills that they can utilise in the UK. It will also contribute immensely to their personal development and help to raise career aspirations by showing them that they can work in another country and how to go about it hence improving and aiding the prospects of the students. They will gain certificates and references from the host, which they can add to their CVs and portfolios of work including Europass and language certification. This independent experience will not only enable the students to become more confident, they will become more motivated as it will broaden their knowledge and horizons and show them possibilities that they didn’t realise were available to them and raise their awareness of their capabilities. Outcomes will be:• Assessment of work and activities undertaken which will contribute to their qualification• Enhancement of soft skills eg motivation, confidence • Euopass certificate of mobility• Certificate from host organisation detailing work and activities undertaken.• Certificate to show improvement in language skillsThe added value to the student will be:• Help them to stand out in the job market• Return more motivated, independent and confident • Learn a range of life-skills not taught in the class room• Access to a wider range of subject areas than in the UK • Improve language skills • Gain an international network of friends • Discover a different culture, gain an international perspective and travel The project will contribute to increasing the volume of mobility throughout Europe as it will enable 183 students to undertake placements in Europe. It will develop the co-operation and partnership between Warrington Collegiate (WC) and other EU organisations, adding another dimension to the already excellent relationship that the Warrington Collegiate already has with some of the partners. The project will provide language training which will hopefully be continued after the work placement, hence contributing the objective to encourage the learning of a modern language. The students will receive Europass Mobility Certificates and we will apply elements of ECVET. The more students that receive this certification, the more well known it will become, aiding recognition and transparency of this kind of learning

The construction sector is among the most reticent to invest on innovation and digitalization, despite much of its players agree that digitalization will soon affect every process and despite a reduction of the productivity in these last years, also driven by the heavy economic crisis. However, this sector creates new jobs, drives economic growth, and provides solutions for social, climate and energy challenges. Investing on digitalization is a must to increase the productivity, reduce the public expenditures, whilst increasing the efficiency of the sector, both in terms of productivity and of attractiveness of private and public risk and debt capitals. The EU strongly addresses such challenges, by supporting among other things the introduction of the Building Information Modelling (BIM) as a key tool to help the construction sector and its SMEs digitalize. The project responds to the gap in skills between professionals and non-professionals involved in the operationalization of the BIM. Its specific objective is to improve the job quality of workers through increasing their digital skills, and consequently help promoting productivity and sustainability of the construction sector in Europe. In this sense, the project copes with the objectives of EUROPE2020 strategy and has a clear transnational vocation. It involves 2 types of direct participants:-VET Providers. 12 trainers will attend the Training of Trainers, representing partner organizations and other associated VET providers which are part of their networks. The aim is for them to learn how to transfer contents and methods embedded in the training modules to students and blue collar workers in the field of construction.-End users - students enrolled in VET training courses in the construction field and blue-collar workers. VET providers engaged in the project will involve the end users in the training and the testing of the app. Around 10 participants per country will be involved (tot: 50).The project revolves around the elaboration of three intellectual outputs:- Training modules aimed at supporting the introduction of a BIM – oriented mindset as well as technical skills on the building sites, to allow workers to cope with the compliant - BIM models.- An APP collecting the contents of training modules as a pedagogical tool - a sort of intuitive manual, with clear and ready – to – go instructions for simple and key actions that the worker might need to do on the building site.- An e-Guide including contents of the previous intellectual outputs, as well as the main indications on how to use the app. It will encompass the adjustments collected in the trial phase and be uploaded on the websites of the partners. All contents will be developed in the 5 languages of the project (IT, DE, EN, ES, SI), to facilitate the diffusion at European scale. A training of trainers (ToT) will be held, for VET trainers to learn contents and methods of courses they will hold once back. Both training modules and the APP will be tested in the countries covered by the project, in order to adjust them on the basis of the empirical evidence and feedbacks from users.METHODOLOGY- training modules will be elaborated based on need analysis carried out by project partners, their practical experience with students and blue collar workers on spot and the latter’s skills. This requires an attentive selection of theoretical concepts that will be conveyed to target groups as for what they do need in practical terms. - the core of ToT will be how to convey selected topics for an easy and functional understanding of BIM to non-specialized blue collar workers and students.- the drafting of the e-Guide will be pursued through a logical description of all phases of training modules’ elaboration, in order to make it easy for other European stakeholders to replicate their contents.- foreseeing a testing period to measure the impact of outputs on daily work will help the sharing of results on empirical grounds as well as adjustments before the project itself comes to an end, in order to introduce robust innovation in learning and working methods in construction Europe-wide.SHORT TERM RESULTS-a specific training course for the blue-collar workers of the building sector.-an app summarizing contents of the training, available on spot.-an e-guide collecting contents, methods and recommendations developed in response to feedback received from the workers after the testing.-Increased knowledge on key information regarding the construction life cycle.LONG TERM RESULTS-Better coordination and communication between actors involved in the design of the building and those working for its realization and mantainance.-Increased productivity and competitiveness of the construction sector.-Reduced digital skills gap between the actors in the field of construction.-Improved job opportunities for blue collar workers.

CONTEXT/BACKGROUNDTraditional crafts in the construction sector, such as stonecutter, mason or carpenter, tend to disappear because of, among others, the transition from one generation to the next one caused by the ageing of the crafts workers and the current unattractiveness of the construction sector, which resulting in a lack of qualified workforce to do restoration works. However, restoration activity is increasing in Europe, being in fact the most important activity. The development of learning resources about traditional techniques as a complement of vocational training would improve the response of VET system to market needs, increasing at the same time job expectations of youngsters and make the construction industry more appealing and sustainable.2. OBJECTIVES The project has two main objectives:* Gathering knowledge and techniques about traditional processes in the construction industry related to the renovation of buildings, in order to avoid the loss of know-how.* Training young workers in these techniques, to ensure a proper restoration of the traditional elements in old buildings in Europe.3. PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTSAs for the partnership, 6 entities experts in VET in the construction industry have participated in the project:- FLC (Leader, Spain)- BZB (Germany)- IFAPME (Belgium)- CCCA-BTP (France) - CENFIC (Portugal)- FORMEDIL-PUGLIA (Italy)All partners belong to the “Network for the Vocational Education and Training in the construction sector in Europe”, RE.FORM.E (www.reforme.org).4. METHODOLOGY AND ACTIVITIESThe project methodology is structured along 24 months, planned in different activities which included specific activities led by one project partner. The working methodology to gather and exploit information has combined several qualitative techniques: observations, case of studies and semi-structured interviews.Three phases have been set into motion to develop the project and its results:A1. PROJECT MANAGEMENT. Quality plan.A2. PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION. Development of deliverables and endorsement by core key agents. - Handy guide. European experiences in rehabilitation of buildings: Six case studies- Map of skills. Skills needs identification for restoration of traditional architecture in Europe- Training program. Rehabilitation of traditional architecture in Europe- Open educational resource: App ""Construction Inheritance"".- Experimentation and external validation: pilot courses.- Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).A3. PROJECT DISSEMINATION. Valorisation and sustainability 5. RESULTSThe main result of the project has been to gather and transmit traditional knowledge and building techniques, with the aim of training new workers concerning the restoration of old buildings in Europe. This collection of know-how has been transformed into learning outcomes that have been materialized in a training program and its corresponding open and digital learning resource – App -, which can be used by the VET system and/or in-company training. Also, the training program has been carried out under the European Qualification Framework (EQF) and the ECVET system to facilitate the accreditation of acquired skills, in order to enhance the acknowledgement of learning, also attained via non-formal and informal contexts.6. IMPACT- Trainees and apprentices, who may be able to acquire these skills by means of new technologies and increase their job opportunities in the sector.- Building workers, who may increase their skills on traditional restoration and therefore their job opportunities in the sector. - Trainers and VET providers in the construction industry, since they will have available an innovative training program with contents adapted to market needs.- Strengthening and promotion of quality, transparency and mutual trust in VET in Europe.- Higher coherency between labour market and the provision of VET, in order to get a better performance of youth employment and sectorial skills.7. LONG TERM BENEFITS- Fostering of VET European tools (EQF, ECVET), which will ensure a lasting and shared accreditation of acquired skills, encouraging the mobility of apprentices and workers in Europe.- Improvement of the construction sector image through its modernization and attention to the architectural heritage in Europe."
