"32 youth workers and youth leaders from 4 countries (Germany, Armenia, Georgia and Italy) participated in the 8-day international training course “Social Entrepreneurship Impact Hub” which took place in Yerevan, Armenia from 25 November-2 December 2018. The European migrant crisis has reached critical levels and has dominated media coverage of the continent. The frustration and disempowerment of the disadvantaged youth in general and young migrants and asylum seekers in particular risks breeding low self-esteem, low motivation, cynicism and radicalization. Across Europe social entrepreneurs are stepping up to help address the social issues that have resulted from the migration crisis. Examples are many: A group of young people in Austria (Flüchtlinge Wilkommen) decided to create a website that connects individuals with spare rooms or apartments with a person who has fled their home country. Otvorena Mreža in Coratia was set up with the aim of ensuring everybody has free access to the internet. Talentify in Austria is a peer-to-peer online platform that connects young people with other young people and tutors to develop their academic and social skills, regardless of their social or financial background. And so on. However, whilst the sector flourishes, there is limited involvement from migrant, refugee and ethnic minorities. Lack of access to credit and funding alongside, educational, religious, gender and language barriers all contribute to the issue. As a result, opportunities for potentially high impact and community-focused enterprises and entrepreneurs are lost. Youth workers and youth leaders working directly with young refugees/asylum seekers and migrants are uniquely positioned to raise awareness of social enterprise amongst these minorities and to help grow the number of migrant and refugee social entrepreneurs. Aim of the training course:The training course aimed to develop the capacity of youth workers to raise awareness and address migrant and refugee related issues in their work with young people using the tool of social entrepreneurship. The training course was based on non formal learning methods and principles, intercultural dialogue and communication including group discussions, interactive presentations, participant’s lead workshops, team work, etc. The training offered the implementation and reflection of pedagogical approaches and tools to educate about the current situation of refugees in Europe, anti-discrimination education and stereotypes. It aimed to create a learning space with better self-awareness and awareness of the needs and goals of the groups of young people they work with to enhance the results of the learning process and give birth to high quality projects led by the participants in the future. The project aimed to reveal the value of the Erasmus+ Programme as a tool for youth empowerment and raised awareness about Youthpass tool for supporting young people harness skills and personal growth through self-reflection and learning documentation. Objectives of the training course were: - Widen perspectives of participants on the concept of social entrepreneurship as a tool for tackling local social problems of marginalized young people, refugees/asylum seekers and migrants; - Identify existing resources for the young social entrepreneurs and share know how on social enterprises; - Explore creative tools and methodologies for creating conditions for a dialogue, establishing a culture of diversity, acceptance and pluralism and for dealing with fears that exist in our society; - Provide participants with educational tools and methodologies that will enable them to act as multipliers on refugee related issues in their work with young people; - Learn to use Youthpass and the Key Competences for creative process of skill harnessing, self-reflection and documentation of the personal learning process; - Promote Erasmus + Programme and explain how young migrants and refugees can be involved in it; - Develop concrete social entrepreneurial initiatives; - Develop concrete projects to be applied under Erasmus + Programme; - Transfer knowledge and skills by developing and publishing online the booklet ""Reshaping Youth Work Using the Tool of Social Entrepreneurship”."

"“Unlocking Youth Entrepreneurial Power” was a two-stage international youth exchange project which gathered 32 young people from 4 countries (Italy, Armenia, Estonia and Georgia) and empowered them with entrepreneurial attitudes and mindset.Unemployment has been identified as a big concern in Europe and beyond. Today’s world is marked by widespread focus on economic development, technological advancement and global integration. Yet, we still witness widespread unemployment, especially among young people who are left outside the prosperity loop and who find it more and more difficult to access ever-changing labor markets. This problem has been aggravated given the current context concerning young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Europe. The frustration and disempowerment of the disadvantaged youth in general and these young migrants and asylum seekers in particular can breed low self-esteem, low motivation, cynicism and radicalization. We believe that long term solution of this problem lies not in externalities of macro economics or policy but in hearts and minds of young people. A renewed mindset is needed for young people to understand that even in the most difficult situations they have more control over their lives than they think and through entrepreneurial spirit, procactivity and strategic approach they can spot values, seize opportunities, assess and take risk and grow. Instead of seeking a job, they can create one for themselves.Overall aims & Objectives:The main aim of this two-stage Youth Exchange was to create a platform and a process where young people experienced empowerment themselves and were equipped to empower others in their communities through exchange of ideas, stories, attitudes, techniques and tools that promoted entrepreneurial spirit and skills of young people in general and marginalized youth among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants in particular. One journey: 2 stages! The international exchange project of “Unlocking Youth Entrepreneurial Power” was comprised of two stages: The first stage was the weekend-long Web Conference (12-13 May 2018) where participants met up in the on-line realm, explored the subject, its challenges and opportunities and decided the themes, topics and methods of Exchange. In between the first and the second stage participants did research and observation in their local communities to find useful insights and opportunities for value creation, entrepreneurship and employability. The second stage was the actual Youth Exchange in Armenia (13-22 August 2018) which gathered insights, learning, inspirations and experiences of participants from their local communities and translated them into concrete business ideas and quality youth projects to be carried out under Erasmus + Programme. Objectives of the first stage-Weekend Web Conference (12-13 May 2018) were:-Explore the concept of self-employment and achieve a common understanding of youth employability.-Analyze the current situation of young people today especially marginalized youth among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants and understand their hopes, dreams fears and barriers for their personal development.-Form teams from participants to do research and observation in their local communities after they return in order to find useful insights and opportunities for entrepreneurshipObjectives of the second stage- Youth Exchange Activity in Armenia (13-22 August 2018) were-Gather insights, learning, inspirations and experience of participants from their local communities and translate them into concrete project ideas.-Equip participants with knowledge and skills in the field of project management in order to enable them to develop quality youth projects.-Identify existing resources for the young entrepreneurs and share know how on social enterprises to link youth among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants with business and entrepreneurship.-Promote Erasmus + Programme and explain how young people especially marginalized youth among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants can be involved in it.-Develop concrete business ideas and entrepreneurial initiatives.-Transfer skills and knowledge by developing and publishing online the ""Catalog of Youth Entrepreneurship Ideas and Initiatives""The Youth Exchange was based on non-formal learning methods and principles, intercultural dialogue and communication including group discussions, interactive presentations, participant’s lead workshops, etc. Youthpass tool was used throughout the project to help young people reflect regularly on their personal learning journeys. The methodology of the project stimulated active participation and sense of initiative and involvement of the learners. It aimed to create a learning space with better self-awareness and awareness of the needs and goals of the groups of young people they work with to enhance the results of the learning process and give birth to high quality projects led by the participants."

"<< Objectives >>The number of refugees/asylum seekers and migrants that entered EU in the past 5 years passed 5 million (Eurostat) sparking a crisis as countries struggle to cope with the influx, and creating division in the EU over how best to deal with resettling and including people. We feel that working with intercultural competences of local communities throughout Europe is a key element for a healthier relationship between all parties and a better Europe towards the future, therefore an international team of trainers and partners prepared a training course focused on intercultural learning in the field of youth and alternative approaches towards it. Taking different points of view (arriving and hosting) to the situations and possible conflicts, we will be exploring and using different tools that youth workers can use when organizing activities related to cultural diversity, but also giving space for discussion and theoretical considerations. This context gave birth to our 8-day international training course ""Intercultural Dialogue for Social Inclusion"" which will take place in Yerevan, Armenia from 29 July- 5 August 2019. The project will bring together 32 youth workers and youth leaders from 4 countries (France, Armenia, Georgia and Italy). The main aim of this TC is to equip youth workers and youth leaders with top-tier intercultural learning tools, methods and approaches and empower them to create intercultural dialogue environments in their communities to enhance its openness to the inclusion of migrants and refugees. The main objectives are: - To reflect on the current European and National realities concerning the flux of migrants and refugees and their inclusion;- To learn and develop knowledge, competences and tools to work on diversity, intercultural learning and intercultural dialogue;- To create awareness about the significant influence of culture on persons' behaviour and identity;- To raise awareness on the cultural differences between different European countries and to what extent this impacts the inclusion/exclusion of migrants and refugees in different societies;- To explore the potential of young people as actors of inclusion and change on a local level, by developing tools, activities and sustainable strategies;- To share good practices related to youth work, inclusion and active participation- To acknowledge the Erasmus+ Programme as a tool for intercultural learning, youth work and inclusion;- To develop an informal network of youth workers and youth leaders tackling the refugee crisis and promoting follow up projects and initiatives.- To transfer knowledge and skills by developing and publishing online the “Booklet for Social Inclusions of Young Migrants and Refugees through Intercultural Learning”The training course will be facilitated by experienced trainers, using methods of non-formal education and will include input sessions, experience-exchange sessions, reflection-groups and discussions. Trainers will aim to use the resource of the participants' as much as possible during the programme, therefore participants will be encouraged to share their knowledge, ideas and questions related to the topic. The working methods will be interactive and diverse in order to ensure a balance between theory and practice, between information and application. Taking into account the diversity of the participants in terms of culture and working experience, the methods will provide an effective group communication and will allow all participants to fulfill their expectations and needs through a progressive and valuable intercultural learning experience. This training will have strong focus on projects and concrete use of learning products, therefore participants will be supported and guided on development, implementation and evaluation of their own tools and projects for intercultural learning and dialogue.<< Activities >>This project aims to organize the international training course ""Intercultural Dialogue for Social Inclusion” from 29 July- 5 August 2019 (8 days) in Yerevan, Armenia. Total 32 participants from France, Armenia, Georgia and Italy will be involved. The 32 participants of this project will come from a pre-identified pool of youth workers and youth leaders who represent the partner organizations involved, some of whom also work in local authorities, local governments and other public institutions in France, Armenia, Georgia and Italy.Selected participants will have the ability and the strong motivation to develop their own intercultural/diversity-competences and raise awareness and address migrant and refugee related issues in their work with young people using the intercultural, diversity and Inclusion tools provided in this training.50% of the participants will be those coming from fewer opportunities backgrounds including refugees/asylum seekers and migrants. "<< Objectives >>We are all becoming increasingly used to using our mobiles and other screen devices all day round. This translates into a craving for quick access to content and permanent stimulation, generating ""continuous partial attention"", which experts link to undermining social interactions, creativity, and academic performance.Another side to this urban, sedentary, screen-based lifestyle is the loss of contact with nature, leading to the nature deficit disorder condition common particularly among young people detached from natural environments. Numerous studies have shown the importance of interacting with nature as it contributes to the health and wellbeing of young people, increasing their ability to concentrate and better manage emotions. This project responds to the growing abuse of permanently connected technological devices in addition to the decreasing contact young people have with nature by providing innovative and inclusive non-formal education within the context of a youth exchange.Nature and mindfulness tools together have the potential to not only offer deep, meaningful, and self-reflective experiences but also lead individuals toward inclusive attitudes. Thus, this project reaches out and involves youth from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as refugees, migrants and those who fled the war in Ukraine and the 2020 Karabagh war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, to practice eco-mindfulness as a powerful tool for equity and inclusion. The overall aim of the project:The three-staged youth exchange project ""Eco-Mindfulness for Equity and Inclusion"" aims to create a learning environment where young people will experience the synergy of mindfulness and nature-based methodologies and become a driving force for equity and inclusion in their societies for youth in general and refugees, migrants and those who had to flee wars in particular. The project consists of 3 stages and encompasses 2 youth exchange activities:Stage #1: Youth Exchange Activity A1 in Yerevan, Armenia (13-22 January 2024)32 young people from 4 countries (Denmark, Armenia, Georgia and Italy) will gather in Armenia to reach the following objectives:- Explore mindfulness and its relevance to young people.- Discover the connection between Nature-Based Methods and mindfulness.- Learn and practice various eco-mindfulness activities.- Explore how to support young refugees, migrants, and those who fled the war in Ukraine and Armenia using eco-mindfulness activities.- Equip participants to plan and implement community-based activities using mindfulness and nature-based methods in Stage #2 of this project.- Decide themes, topics, and methods of the Youth Exchange Activity A2.Stage #2: Participants will plan and implement community-based activities using mindfulness and nature-based methods. The activities will be community-driven and youth-led. There will be a total of 12 activities (3 in each country).Stage #3: Youth Exchange Activity A2 in Vig, Denmark (2-7 July 2024). 32 participants will convene back again in Vig, Denmark, to reach the following objectives:- Exploring the link between mindfulness and sustainable climate adaptation- Share best practices related to the implementation of community-based activities using mindfulness and nature-based methods (from Stage#2)- Explore and experience more activities in nature that improve mental health and enhance a sense of belonging.- Create projects for young people with fewer opportunities from refugees and migrants backgrounds to be applied under Erasmus+ based on nature and mindfulness.- Promote Erasmus+ and explain how young people can be involved in it.- Create an online booklet, ""The Art and Science of Eco-Mindfulness"" to spread knowledge and tools to the broader public. The project uses outdoor activities in natural environments that make active use of nature as a central element of the activity, not just a pleasant frame. The methodology of this project is based on non-formal learning methods and principles, self-reflection, intercultural communication, cultural submersion, group discussions, interactive presentations, participant-led workshops, etc. << Implementation >>This project has three stages and encompasses two youth exchange activities:- Stage #1: Youth Exchange A1 in Yerevan, Armenia (13-22 January 2024)This youth exchange activity will provide a platform for 32 young people from Denmark, Armenia, Italy, and Georgia to gather together, interact, learn, and explore the connection between Nature-Based Methods and mindfulness. This activity aims to inspire the participating young people to promote eco-mindfulness and prepare them for doing community-based activities in their local communities during Stage #2- Stage #2: Participants will use the learning from A1 to plan and implement community-based activities using mindfulness and nature-based methods. The activities will be community-driven and youth-led. A total of 12 activities will be created (3 in each country). The type of activity will depend on community needs and can range from educational to community participation activities.- Stage #3: Youth Exchange A2 in Vig, Denmark (2-7 July 2024). The 32 participants will gather together again to cement learning, share best practices for implementing community-based activities using mindfulness and nature-based methods, explore more strategies and resources for eco-mindfulness that leads to inclusion, transfer knowledge and plan future projects to be applied under Erasmus + Programme.Participants of the project are between 18-30 years old. They are active members of the partner organizations, are passionate about learning how to boost wellbeing through eco-mindfulness and are willing to have a unique experience of empowerment, exchange, and contact building through this project.Particular attention is paid to the involvement of marginalized youth among refugees, migrants, and young people who fled the war in Ukraine and the Karabagh war in 2020. Young people with fewer opportunities constitute 50% of the total participants in this project.<< Results >>The project aims to create a learning environment where young people will experience the synergy of mindfulness and nature-based methodologies and become a driving force for equity and inclusion in their societies for youth in general and refugees, migrants and those who had to flee wars in particular. The project invests in participants by:1) Revealing the connection between Nature-Based Methods and mindfulness.2) Teaching various eco-mindfulness activities that support inclusion and equity.3) Exploring the link between mindfulness and sustainable climate adaptation.4) Improving their learning performance through new experiences, self-reflection, and personal learning documentation (Youthpass Tool).5) Giving them soft skills applicable in career and work-life such as self-confidence, communication skills, leadership skills, ability to manage personal and social relationships, increased social awareness and critical thinking contributing to better self-esteem, ability to reflect and articulate, intercultural competencies, an open mind, tolerance, curiosity, teamwork, etc.5) Creating a unique intercultural learning experience.6) Revealing the importance of non-formal education and the Erasmus + Programme for advancing youth wellbeing, inclusion and equity.Apart from the intangible results (knowledge and experiences gained by the participants, increased skills and improved cultural awareness), participants will create the following tangible outcomes:1) Participants will use the learning from A1 to plan and implement community-based activities using mindfulness and nature-based methods. The activities will be community-driven and youth-led. A total of 12 activities will be created (3 in each country). The type of activity will depend on community needs and can range from educational to community participation activities.2) Participants will create projects based on nature and mindfulness for young people with fewer opportunities from refugees and migrants backgrounds to be applied under Erasmus+.3) Participants will create an online booklet, ""The Art and Science of Eco-Mindfulness"" to spread knowledge and tools to the broader public. This online booklet will be the project's primary knowledge and skill transfer mechanism. The impact on participating organizations will be as follows:- Increased international capacity to promote green transition, inclusion, and equity through eco-mindfulness.- Greater ability to produce more practical activities related to mindfulness and nature.- Opportunity to create new local and international partnerships and reinforce cooperation with existing partners.- Motivation to increase the allocation of financial resources for projects supporting disadvantaged youth from refugees, migrants, and those who fled the war in Ukraine.- Increased quality in preparing, implementing, monitoring, and follow-up on EU/international projects.- Innovative and improved way of operating towards the target group.- Increased social credit (positive image) and attractiveness of the organizations.- Improved processes of recognition and validation of competencies gained during learning. On Macro Level (National and European) we aim to mainstream the experience and results of the project in the following way:- The 12 community-based activities will spread awareness about eco-mindfulness, inclusion and equity in local communities.- The online booklet, ""The Art and Science of Eco-Mindfulness"" will spread knowledge and tools to the broader public.- By spreading the word, we will inspire others to take on European projects focusing on youth green lifestyles, eco-mindfulness and inclusion.- Our project will create interest and incentive for donors to provide more funding for youth projects targeting refugees, migrants, and those who fled the war in Ukraine in our countries.- Our project will enhance the impact of EU-funded projects in our region and demonstrate that European projects are beneficial and worth supporting."

"<< Objectives >>The pandemic affects everyone, everywhere. But it threatens some more than others: young refugees, migrant workers and those with poor access to health care, education, housing and work are especially susceptible as this crisis deepens inequalities, exclusion and discrimination and compromises social inclusion efforts. On the other hand we notice a great surge in youth digital participation as many start going to online spaces and platforms for education, entertainment, interaction and civic activism. Opportunities are bigger than ever. But so too are the risks and dilemmas that come with it (e.g. online safety and protection, the prevalence of disinformation, harmful websites, etc.).With the loss of much face-to-face communication, periodic gatherings and constant contact with our young people, youth work seems to be in limbo. Times are swiftly changing at the moment. However, our belief that youth workers are absolute heroes will never change. This context gave birth to our 10-day international training course ""Towards Inclusive Digital Youth Work"" which will take place in Yerevan, Armenia from 1-10 August 2022. The project will bring together 32 youth workers and youth leaders from 4 countries (France, Armenia, Georgia and Italy).MAIN AIM OF THE PROJECT:The main aim of this training course is to equip and empower youth workers and youth leaders to use digital youth work to create online platforms for intercultural dialogue and support inclusion of migrants and refugees.OBJECTIVES AND TARGETS:The project has 3 objectives and 12 targets:>>Objective #1: Prepare youth workers to become agents for Social Inclusion:- Enhance competencies and increase knowledge related to work on diversity, intercultural learning and intercultural dialogue.- Explore cultural differences between different European countries and to what extent this impacts the inclusion/exclusion of migrants and refugees in different societies;- Develop tools, activities and sustainable strategies to unlock the potential of young people as actors of inclusion and change on a local level.- Share good practices related to youth work, inclusion and active participation.>>Objective #2: Prepare youth workers for digital youth work:- Map, analyze and share on good practices in online youth work that can be transferred and adopted across Europe.- Enhance digital skills of youth workers and the uptake of Information and communications technology (ICT) practices of organizations engaging in youth work.- Learn how to safeguard online- Learn to use digital tools and activities “e-tivities” (e.g. forums, assignments, games, etc.)- Learn to engage social media, online groups and digital storytelling.>>Objective #3: Engage and transform the online realm:- Establishing online intercultural learning and social inclusion platforms.- Create a web-based toolbox (e.g. web page) capturing best practices, tools and methodologies of online youth work supporting social inclusion.- Acknowledge the Erasmus+ Programme as a tool for intercultural learning, digital youth work and inclusion. The training course will be facilitated by experienced trainers in social inclusion and digital youth work, using methods of non-formal education. It will include input sessions, experience-exchange sessions, reflection groups and discussions. The working methods will be interactive and diverse in order to ensure a balance between offline and online, theory and practice and between information and application.Trainers will aim to use the resource of the participants as much as possible. Participants will be encouraged to share their knowledge, ideas and questions related to the topic. Taking into account the diversity of the participants in terms of culture and working experience, the methods will provide effective group communication and will allow all participants to fulfill their expectations and needs through a progressive and valuable intercultural learning experience. This training will have a strong focus on results and concrete use of learning products. Participants will be supported and guided as they develop the web-based toolbox and initiate online intercultural learning and social inclusion platforms.<< Implementation >>This project aims to organize the international training course ""Towards Inclusive Digital Youth Work"" which will take place from 1-10 August 2022 (10 days) in Yerevan, Armenia. Total 32 participants from France, Armenia, Georgia and Italy will be involved. The 32 participants of this project will come from a pre-identified pool of youth workers and youth leaders who represent the partner organizations involved, some of whom also work in local authorities, local governments and other public institutions in France, Armenia, Georgia and Italy. Selected participants will have the ability and the strong motivation to develop their intercultural/diversity-competences and digital youth work skills to create online platforms for intercultural dialogue and support the inclusion of migrants and refugees.50% of the participants will be those coming from fewer opportunities backgrounds including refugees/asylum seekers and migrants. The project aims to support the professional growth of these individuals so they can become active Youth workers and Youth leaders in this field.<< Results >>Youth workers and youth leaders will be equipped and empowered to use digital youth work to create online platforms for intercultural dialogue and support inclusion of migrants and refugees. As a result of this project, they will be able to reach their current and new youth groups in online spaces in an innovative, attractive and also accountable way. Achieving Objective #1 of this project would mean that 32 youth workers will become agents for social inclusion competent to work on diversity, intercultural learning and intercultural dialogue and able to create innovative intercultural dialogue environments to support inclusion of young migrants and refugees.Achieving Objective #2 of the project would mean these youth workers now can do inclusion work online as they will enhance their digital skills: They will be able to start and also convert existing (but dying) offline processes, events, meetings into fun and enriching virtual events and meetings to sustain and even increase youth participation. Our internal studies among participating organizations suggest that currently only 10% of our youth workers feel confident to do digital youth work. With this project, we aim to reach 80% of our youth workers feeling confident to do online youth work. Our studies also suggest that each youth worker in our organizations, on average, reaches 25 young persons on regular basis through a variety of methods and activities. By adding the digital specter to our youth work we expect that, on average, each youth worker should reach 100 young persons on regular basis. This means a 400% increase as around 3,200 Young people will be impacted through direct digital youth work of those who will participate in this training course. This project will improve uptake of Information and communications technology (ICT) practices of organizations engaging in youth work. ICT use is currently 30% in our NGOs. We expect this to reach 70% as our organizations become motivated to invest in ICT acquisition and adoption in daily work.Apart from the intangible results (knowledge, skills, experiences and attitudes) the project aims to create the following tangible results:1) Establishing online intercultural learning and social inclusion platforms: Each country team is required to create at least 3 online learning and social inclusion platforms. This could range from a Facebook page or messenger group to a full blown website or e-course on LMS platform where youth workers engage young people on regular basis. We expect at least 12 online platforms to be launched as results of this training.2) Creation of web-based toolbox (e.g. web-page) capturing best practices, tools and methodologies of online youth work supporting social inclusion. Our youth workers and any organization or individual will be able to access this free recourse contributing to the exponential transfer of knowledge globally. The Impact on participating organizations will be as follows:- Increased capacity to operate in digital spaces as well as internationally.- Reinforced cooperation with partners.- Motivation to increase allocation of financial resources for projects related to inclusion targeting refugees/asylum seekers and migrants.- Increased quality in the preparation, implementation, monitoring and follow up of EU/international projects;- Innovative and improved way of operating towards the target group.- Increased social credit (positive image) and attractiveness of the organizations.- Improved processes of recognition and validation of competences gained during learning; - Ability to produce more effective activities (including digital activities) for the benefit of refugees/asylum seekers and migrants communities. On Macro Level (National and European) we aim to mainstream the experience and results of the project in the following way:- Disseminating knowledge and tools related to online youth work through the Web-Based Toolbox- Inspiring others to take on European projects through spreading the word.- Creating interest and incentive for donors to provide more funding for youth projects targeting refugees/asylum seekers and migrants in our countries.- Contributing to enhancing the impact of EU-funded projects in our region and demonstrating that European projects are beneficial and worth supporting."
