An ideal world would be, according to us, a world in which everyone gets the opportunity to be the best version of themselves, by discovering their potential and by using this potential in aiming for what they want in life. Discrimination in a time of ever-sharper polarization raises threats to this concept. In our opinion, it is of the utmost importance for (integration)policy to have a clearer link to the circumstances and potential of young people. An important step of this process is the facilitation of the dialogue between experience-based youth experts and responsible policy makers. In spring 2018, the Dutch National Youth Council will take the initiative to realize this with 10 other European youth councils from the BBC + youth network. In 10 countries, national dialogue programs will be set up with a total of 110 participating young people and about 25 policy makers. Then, during a three-day international youth seminar in the Netherlands, with about 25 delegates from the 10 youth councils and Dutch (youth) experts, outcomes will be transformed into a shared vision containing recommendations and success factors. This document will be widely distributed among governments, organizations and other stakeholders. This European youth project explores and highlights explicitly how young people can make a positive contribution and how youth organizations and youth councils in particular can play an important role in the social integration and social development of migrant youth. For all participants involved, we realize short-term results in the development of knowledge and skills and the expansion of their networks, especially when it comes to further implementation of the success factors in working with youth. Policy makers participating in the project are offered a 'ticket to young people', which is sometimes difficult for them. They will be able to benefit from this in the long run, when it comes to policy development and improvement.

<< Objectives >>We have 43 national youth councils in Europe and they differ greatly in their organizational structure, so the national youth councils from Slovenia, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia and Estonia decided to explore our differences within the project - Together we can. We will focus on the following areas: inclusion and diversity of membership, structure of NYC, gathering opinions of young people and informing them, cooperation with decision-makers and funding). The purpose of this project is for the partners to get to know each other, exchange good and bad practices, and together prepare the basis for a future KA2 project that will help national youth councils change their organization and become more efficient, inclusive and sustainable.Project goals: 1. During the preparation for the event (including the online preparatory meeting), participants will explore the functioning of their national youth council and conduct a short survey on selected topics in order to prepare a snapshot of the situation by country. 2. Implementation of a 4-day networking and community building event with an online preparatory meeting that will allow participating national youth councils to address the differences in their work and learn about the differences in the way national youth councils and others across Europe work and prepare our future KA2 project; 3. During the event, the participants prepare the content of the research (finalise the topics) and prepare the survey questions, as well as the plan for the promotion of the survey, and the preparation of the analysis and dissemination of the results. 4. The partners involved shall prepare a survey and obtain information from at least 15 national youth councils in Europe. 5. Organise an online meeting of all national youth councils, with at least 15 people, were the conclusions of the research will be presented and will represent an opportunities for future cooperation.<< Implementation >>The project will start with a short online meeting, where we will present the project and give the participants a research task - the preparation of short research in national groups about their national youth council, which will prepare a snapshot of the situation in their countries. This will be followed by a 4-day event of networking and community building “Together we can” in the heart of Bohinj. There we will present our realities to each other and find our differences through good practices, and lay the foundations for our future KA2 project. This will be followed by the creation of an online survey, with the help of which we will analyse the situation in other national youth councils throughout Europe. The project will end with an online meeting of all national youth councils, where we will present an analysis of the research with good practices. The main target groups of the project are youth workers in national youth councils. These are young people and young adults who create content and projects in youth councils. The project will cover a group consisting of 3 youth workers per country (1 board member, 1 office member and 1 member organization member), in total: 15 youth workers.<< Results >>The project represents the beginning of the construction of a European community of national youth councils and the first step towards the preparation of a joint KA2 project (research of the NYC conditions, set of good practices, preparation of content where we want to grow). Together, we can!

"<< Objectives >>The objective of the project was to make it possible for youth workers from different parts of Europe to have an opportunity to get to know each other, learn from each other, share experiences and best youth work practices. We are convinced that having provided the arena for sharing experiences and mutual learning in a non-formal setting this project has improved the competences of the participants and lead to further networking. Our objective was to increase international co-operation, mobility as well as intercultural understanding through high quality activity programme. We have aimed at enhancing the capacity and professionalization of youth workers and organisations working in the field of youth in Europe. In addition to improving their individual professional competencies, the project participants have obtained an overview of the youth work policies and practices in different European countries and have been able to enhance their understanding of different cultural and social diversities. Since all the participants were multipliers they will be able to implement and disseminate to wider audience the new ideas from the different methods and good practices presented and discussed after returning to their home countries.<< Implementation >>The project was implemented within the framework of the biggest annual youth work event Nuori2020 (Youth2020), also organised by Allianssi in Tampere on January 14-16, 2020. This national event gathered about 2700 youth workers from all over the country. Within the big national event we organised this international seminar on different actual topics related to young people and youth work (migration and immigration, prevention of substance abuse and promotion of hobbies, climate change, digitalisation and future of youth work, inclusion and latest news from Europe). In the framework of this project we had 39 participants from 10 countries most of whom were youth workers from national organisations or local level. Also some youth researchers took part. We also had some 30 international participants sent by the National Agencies who were either their staff members or local youth workers. All the sessions of the international seminar were open also to Finnish participants of Nuori2020 event, and this allowed us to mix the international and Finnish participants as in many sessions, there were big numbers of Finnish participants as well. During the event, we also had presentations of Finnish youth work to international participants, e.g. visits to Tampere youth services. After 3 days in Tampere, we moved to Helsinki where we had presentations of youth work in Helsinki and a session of evaluation and planning of future co-operation.<< Results >>The results and impact of the project were very good. There was a lot of networking between the international participants and also with the Finnish participants. The participants were also very happy with the content of the event. To the question ""What is your overall opinion of the event"" 92 % answered ""excellent"" and 8 % ""good"" and full 100 % answered ""yes"" to the question ""Would you participate in a similar event again"". We also asked the participants to evaluate each session separately with the scale from 1 to 5 (5 being the best) and the average of all the answers was 4,3. To ""I learned something new or developed my existing, knowledge"" 60 % answered ""excellent"" and 40 % ""good"".From the organiser's point of view our aims were manyfold. We wanted to increase contacts and create new networks of youth workers within Europe. On the other hand, we wanted to increase the international dimension in our national event. And the third aim was to present the high quality of the Finnish youth work to our guests. We think we succeeded well in all of these aims. Our international participants were extremely happy about the contacts they could establish during their visit as well as the new things they learned from the Finnish work and also from other international colleagues. The feedback from the Finnish conference participants was also very positive. We are convinced that the project had clear impact on the competences of the participants and participating organisations. The project participants are more able togrow their professional competences but as well their intercultural and social competences. This is what they also said in their feedback reports. All the events were open for all interested participants of Nuori2020, and it was clear that many Finnish participants were interested to the topics and took part in the international sessions. One of the main goals was that Finnish youth workers will have exposure to international issues and opportunities, learn more and be more open to intercultural dialogue and mobility. By using speed dating and other informal networking methods we wanted to immerse the European participants to the whole programme and various actors of the Finnish youth work, professional or volunteer. In the official youth policy documents (e.g. Vanupo) in Finland, it is emphasized that one of the international aims of our youth policy is to improve thequality of youth work, and within this aim we wish to share the know-how of Finnish youth work system, and its skills and education structure. With thisproject we have made a substantial impact to these goals as the Finnish youth work got a lot of attention of the projects participants during their days in Finland and afterwards in their home countries."
