"<< Objectives >>Our project Culturally (y)ours, is aimed at developing and improving the intercultural competences of youth workers, youth leaders in order to become able to prepare, run and evaluate high quality youth work activities according to the principles of intercultural education. We live in multicultural, cross-cultural and intercultural societies. Our local communities are not homogeneous anymore thanks to the free European mobility, the open borders and markets for European citizens, and hosting refugees and migrants from other parts of the world. It is not all the time easy to handle intercultural challenges, to understand the communication codes of different culturality young people, to treat appropriately diverse values, norms and schemes on intercultural behaviours, to face with stereotypes and prejudices coming from young people towards each other without really knowing what they are afraid of and why they become more and more xenophobic. Feeling in our skins, we need to improve our youth work competences through intercultural education in order to be able offering such types of youth work activities locally and European level where young people with different cultural background can cooperate together and handle their cultural diversity as added value of their common activities. General objectives of the project is to train youth workers, youth leaders to be able to work with different culturality young people, e.g. refugees, migrants, foreign kids or young people coming home from other countries and build up a successful intercultural team locally and European level. To recognise stereotypes, prejudices and prevent or stop social stigmatization of young people with different cultural background. By using appropriate intercultural communication, being able to understand the communication and behavioral norms, schemes and forms of young people with different cultural background.<< Activities >>We will host 33 Youth workers. "<< Objectives >>The pandemic has been inflicting a triple shock on young people, disrupting education and training, and placing them on a much more volatile trajectory in finding and maintaining quality jobs. The forces of society and technology, of economies and environments, of political upheaval - all of these are changing the way everyone will work and learn in the future. Young people now question the gap between the skills they learn in school and those needed for employment, and 1 in 6 young people have stopped working (according to the ILO). New industries are constantly being born while old ones are becoming obsolete. Although the impending change holds great promise, the patterns of consumption, production and employment created by it also pose major challenges requiring proactive adaptation by individuals. Young people are in a vulnerable state in the labour market. Many of them lack the skills, work experience, job-search abilities and financial resources to find employment. A 2019 report by the WEF revealed that 65% of the jobs elementary school students will be doing in the future do not exist yet. Both the workforce and our knowledge base are rapidly evolving. Combined with the effects of technological automation of the workforce, this left us with one crucial question: What are the skills future generations will need? WEF revealed in the same report the top 8 Core Employability Skills (CES) the YP should develop to be integrated in the labour market and perform in their positions. Linkedin surfaced data from over 660+ million professionals and 20+ million jobs revealed the 5 most in-demand soft skills to identify the skills that companies needed most, that could guide the youth NGOs and YP in planning their learning, follow upskill training and development programmes. These are: creativity, persuasion, collaboration, adaptability, and emotional intelligence. To understand better what skills the YP from 10 Programme countries wanted to improve and what were the challenges to access the labour market, we’ve carried out an online survey among 361 respondents 16-30 y.o. The results were the following: 74% of respondents considered that they need core employability skills, 59% affirmed that they were searching for work-based learning, counselling and career guidance programmes to improve their profiles as candidates, 81% said that the formal education institutions haven’t ensured soft skills development programmes to facilitate their absorption at the workplace, but only the technical ones. 56% stated that “My level of skill is a lot lower than required in my industry”. Looking at the bigger picture, we have discovered that this issue has as its roots the skills mismatching - the gap between an individual’s job skills and the demands of the job market. This has become a European challenge, affecting all layers of society, from the productivity and efficiency of businesses to the current and prospective welfare of youth. Therefore, youth NGOs could offer assistance to young people to upgrade their approach towards learning so that current and future workers have the skills employers need and the cultural competencies required to thrive. The main aim of the project was to design, with the support of 10 European Youth NGOs 1 multicultural learning experience for 40 youngsters and 10 young leaders, during which they have explored and became familiar with 8 CES skills, and analyzed how skills development can become a viable solution to tackle NEETs situation across Europe and improve their access to labour market. Specific objectives: O1: In July 2021, 40 youngsters from 10 NGOs took part in a 10-days YE in Romania where they have become familiar with 8 skills (1 skill/day) needed on the labour market by using non-formal methods, tools for peer learning and self assessment;O2: To raise awareness on the importance of developing CES skills among min 500 YP, the following actions have been launched: 10 local workshops, a collection of action cards ""80 challenges to be prepared for a future career"" proposed by the participants during the mobility and an Instagram campaign “#DearFutureSelf”, exclusively administered by the participants. The project aligned with the Erasmus+ programme as it was mainly focused on:Developing 3 main key competences (personal, social and learning to learn competence, literacy, multilingual and entrepreneurship competences) connected with CES skills among 40 YP from 10 countries, and encouraging their personal and professional development. Promoting common values and encouraging the participation of youth with fewer opportunities through NFE learning environments focused on CES skills. Supporting the inclusion of NEETs, youth from rural and small urban areas, and from low-income families, newcomers in Erasmus+ mobilities to discover the programme opportunities and how it can positively impact their career path and further insertion on the labour market.<< Implementation >>During the project, the consortium encouraged 40 YP to become agile learners and global citizens equipped to navigate personal, social, academic and economic challenges. By supporting access to education and skills we did our best to ensure that a young person's success is not determined by their socio-economic status. One of the main priorities of the Monomyths Association is to offer equal rights and opportunities for all young people and to engage in the process of sharing Erasmus+ Programme with everyone, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Therefore, we brought in together youth leaders with the necessary competencies to ensure that inclusion and diversity have been welcomed by the young people involved in all the phases of the project. Taking this into consideration, the learning process took place according to each one’s needs, embracing different backgrounds, values and beliefs. The activities that were implemented during the project are the following: A1. A 10 days YE about exploring and understanding 8 future skills needed in the labour market for 40 participants; A2. 80 challenges to be prepared for a future career - participants have designed 80 cards with individual and group exercises related to the skills approached during the youth mobility. A3. An online awareness campaign on Instagram “#DearFutureSelf” that reached almost 500 youngsters from Monomyths network.A4: 10 DFS workshops in all partner countries after the youth mobility where have participated more than 200 young people. The workshops were organized by the participants to promote the “80 challenges to be prepared for a future career” cards and the opportunities of Erasmus+ Program. The beneficiaries of the above mentioned activities fell in 2 categories: 1) 10 youth leaders who actively contributed to the writing of the application. During the project they helped young people in their creative search for different possibilities and in exploring them in their own terms, while also recognizing the value of differences in norms, beliefs, attitudes and life experiences. Young leaders and the partner organizations were in charge of organizing a pre-training for the young people in order to better understand how to manage diversity. Also, youth leaders have been always focused on ensuring that inclusion and diversity are present in all phases of project implementation and that common values of freedom, tolerance and respect of human rights were present along the learning experience and fully respected. 2) 40 YP were actively participating in the project activities. Out of these, 50% were youth with fewer opportunities since most of the partners are operating in rural and small urban areas, working with youth from families with low-income. Moreover, more than 20% of them were also newcomers to the Erasmus+ Programme. They have been actively involved in the preparation of the youth mobility, promotion of the project and Erasmus+ programme, dissemination and evaluation. The Macedonian participants came from Bitola, a city far away from the capital, where the rate of youth unemployment is 53,27% (according to a research made by our partner, Sfera NGO, when the application was written). Turkish Participants have experience in supporting other YP to acquire their best skills, competences and knowledge, therefore their expertise was vital in tackling the problem of unemployment. Spanish participants were NEETs coming from Valencia who recently finished their schools, but were unsure about the next steps regarding their future career. The Croatian team came from Ludbreg, a small town from the northwest region of Croatia, struggling with social inclusion issues and youth unemployment. Greek participants came from Thessaloniki and were previously involved only in local activities and workshops about unemployment, and creativity. Lithuanian organization supported the initiative and sent participants from rural areas of Kaunas Region who also had experience in organizing local activities tackling the problem of NEETs. Although Bulgarian team came from the capital, they had limited access to Erasmus+ opportunities for youngsters so far. Slovakian participants had experience in organizing local activities with youngsters coming from the Zilina Region who are not so familiar with international concerns and Erasmus+ Programme. Estonian organization carried out international projects having as target group disadvantaged youth in difficult situations – socially excluded, unemployed YP, NEETs. The Romanians were NEETs from Calarasi and suburbs of Bucharest who have recently completed their highschool, but couldn’t apply for a job yet. While planning the application, the youth leaders and other participants selected the topics of each day. After the project approval, they have prepared the materials and activities in detail and all the youngsters were directly involved in the preparation and facilitation of the activities as planned.<< Results >>Dear Future Self project has the following results:- 50 European participants have explored and developed 8 essential skills for entering the labour market in a 10-days youth exchange implemented in Calarasi, Romania;- 40 Youthpasses for 40 young people with key-competences and know-how about complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management, coordinating with others, emotional intelligence, negotiation and cognitive flexibility;- 10 local workshops - Dear Future Self organized by the participants in their local communities for more than 200 young people with or without fewer opportunities from the partner countries;- a digital tool with a set of action cards “80 challenges to be prepared for a future career” - challenges to be done individually or together with friends/colleagues in order to practice and master the skills developed during the youth exchange and to become more prepared to enter the labour market;- more than 6000 European youngsters were reached by the Instagram campaign “#DearFutureSelf” meant to raise awareness among young people to pay more attention to self-knowledge and professional development by sharing the results of ""80 challenges to be prepared for a future career"" game cards and other helpful methods related to the topic; (https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/dearfutureself/)- 10 press releases published by the media in the partner countries; To measure the impact of the project we have used data collection methods and tools such as: questionnaires given to the participants and their feed-back (during the YE and during the local workshops); the forms from Mobility tool of the group leaders; individual testimonials offered by the participants and uploaded on the HO and SOs websites; daily evaluation reports; Youthpass certificate filled in by participants, statistics (readers/views from website/social media channels used to communicate the project outcomes using monitoring tools such as Facebook Insights and Google Analytics. The impact at the local level was the following:- 40 young people (direct beneficiaries) and 200 young people involved in the DEOR activities found out more about Erasmus+ Programme and opportunities for funding and international mobilities, European Union values and future skills;- Local media have published information regarding opportunities for young people from rural areas and low-income families in order to create equality of chances for every young person.- Increased level of awareness for the local community regarding European opportunities and Erasmus+ Programme, since it was one of the first Erasmus+ mobilities implemented in this region; All the results of the project have been uploaded on Monomyths Association and partner organizations’ websites, social media channels and on Erasmus+ Project Results Platform. Also, participants with social media accounts have posted info and pictures about the project that they got involved in using hashtags as “#DearFutureSelf” and “#ErasmusPlus” to increase the visibility of the Programme; At national level, the impact of the project was the following:- We have raised awareness on the national problem of skills mismatch by promoting the non-formal tools and activities developed during the project implementation and the set of action cards “80 challenges to be prepared for a future career” among other national youth organisations from our network and their beneficiaries;- We have increased the visibility of Erasmus+ Programme among youth organisations and young people with fewer opportunities and increased the visibility of non-formal practices among young people. At European and international level, the impact has been concretized in the following activities: the Instagram awareness campaign that has been developed among our partners across Europe and other European beneficiaries of the Programme and was an invitation for other Youth NGOs to take action and to start the dialogue with the younger generation, find a common ground and understand in which ways, channels and practices the young people understand and engage better with the topic of the project. Moreover, the project and the concept of future skills have the potential for a synergy with other Erasmus+ Key actions and/or European programmes. The representatives of NGOs have improved their project management competences to develop further projects for young people and they have expressed their willingness to replicate many relevant topics and concerns for young people, youth NGOs and the European Union."
