At first the students worked in the buildind field. It is now labelled « Métiers du Bois et de la Finition » and also offers teaching in selling and commerce. About 490 students and sixty teachers study and work there. Since 2009, the vocational school Yser has developped partnerships in Europe and recently with Sweden. Our main purpose focuses in sending thirty students and thirty teachers abroad between 2018 and 2020. The future selected students specialized in joinery, painting, commerce and selling come from low income families, 70% . Most of them chose this training because our vocational high school is close to their home. Moreover some of them did not have the required school level to pass the A Level. Others were not accepted in the Btech they wanted to pass. Nevertheless our main goal is their success and we do look forward getting them used to gaining in self reliance, confidence in their potential. The workplacements. we contemplate them to achieve, will last four weeks, in Malta in autumn and in Sweden in spring. We have to get them ready to work abroad. We must pay attention to their examinations in France. Therefore the thirty students will not go in workplacement at the same time. When our fourteen students went in Sweden we had to take good care of the Swedish weather, the length of the days, their exams in France. Therefore the students in commerce, selling or joinery will not go on workplacement together. As for as the training of the teachers we contemplate to leave before our students. Furthermore we intend to manage the funding well, thus we fancy meeting our partner in Malta in autumn. The teachers of Lycée des Métiers Yser devote themselves to their students’welfare and accomplishment. They are involved in many objectives. ¤ Prevent them from dropping out. ¤ Enhance their CV thanks to the mobility examination, the workplacement abroad report and our headmaster’s certificate about their working abroad. ¤ Promote their professional skills by comparing working tasks achieved in foreign companies. ¤ Help their work opportunity thanks to this mobility experience. ¤ Open their mind to citizenship and globalisation. The Lycée des Métiers Yser stands for an ally and a taskforce to allow its students to benefit from a mobility opportunity thanks to an Erasmus Plus. We will be proud of supporting our students to develop their linguistic and professional skills. The English teachers would like to update their teaching skills. Teaching a language is not only teaching grammar and vocabulary. We have to give our students cultural landmarks, civilization standpoints and the eagerness for history. Teachers who have experienced mobility will be better ambassadors of students’mobility. Better teachers train better students. Success must be shared. Teachers of joinery, painting, commerce and selling are willing to obtain the certification in DNL in order to be able to teach their subject differently by co-working with the language teachers. The English teachers are involved in training their colleagues and helping them pass the certification. Our students will be more easily convinced of the importance of their own mobility when noticing their teachers’ mobility. Besides having achieved a workplacement abroad will enrich their CV and will help them apply for a better job.

Bohaterow Westerplatte w Kartuzach,Future Focus Ltd,Future Focus LtdFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2018-1-PL01-KA102-049287Funder Contribution: 118,544 EURThe main objective of the project is to organise two-week apprenticeship in a foreign country (this specific length of the apprenticeship is justified by the education cycle in our school) for students of Complex of Vocational and Grammar Schools in Kartuzy in their third year. The immediate beneficiaries of the project were 59 students (4 groups) who went for the apprenticeship under the care of teachers, while fulfilling the plan created by the school to fit to the core curriculum they attend. The dates of the non-compulsory foreign apprenticeships for students in their third year of schooling have been selected in such a way as not to collide with Easter, school breaks or exams confirming their professional qualifications. The language of the project was English. In France, students lived in a hotel, in England and Ireland they were accommodated with families.Group A completed its internship in Portsmouth and England, from 18/11/2018 to 01/12/2018. 9 students from Technical School of Information Technology, 6 from Technical School of Trade and 6 from Vocational class, studying in the following professions: locksmith, hairdresser and salesman, took part in the internships. They went on an internship under the supervision of 2 teachers.Group B did its internship on 03/31/19 - 04/14/19 in Cork, Ireland, under the supervision of two teachers. It was attended by 10 students from Technical School of Advertisement and 6 people from Technical School of Economy.Group C did its internship in Bergerac, France, from 07/10/2019 to 20/10/2019. 6 students from Technical School of Trade stayed in places of apprenticeship along with pupils from the French school, as is the case with students from Bergerac staying on apprenticeships in Kartuzy. The school teacher took care of the students.Group D completed an internship in Portsmouth, England from 10/11/2019 to 23/11/2019. 12 students from Technical School of Information Technology, and 4 students from Vocational class studying in the following professions: salesman, carpenter and sewer, participated in those internships. The group E internship in Malta scheduled for April 2020 did not take place due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Each beneficiary was issued a certificate of participation and a EUROPASS Mobility certificate. Documents can be helpful in finding a job not only on the local, regional, national but also European market. The final product of the project is the website: https://zsziokerasmusplus2018.5v.pl/index.php/pl and a tourist guide to the places visited during the trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_TBhfhabDA&feature=youtu.beMoreover, the students completed a questionnaire prepared by Dr. Natasza Kosakowska-Berezecka, the Assistant Professor from the Department of Intercultural Psychology of the University of Gdańsk, the coordinator of the path of Intercultural Psychology, who was examining the change of attitudes of the participants - lowering stereotypes and increasing empathy and tolerance, the results of which allowed to determine whether they changed to be more equal. The fulfillment of the project helped with maintaining the good position of Complex of Vocational and Grammar Schools in Kartuzy on the local market of education services, continuing the practice of foreign apprenticeships for the students, having the positive aspects of such actions in mind. We also managed to achieve other goals of the project, such as: increasing the language competences of students, cultural openness, the ability to work in an international team, and personal development. The school maintained many years of cooperation with project partners: Jean Capelle School in Bergerac and Training Vision LTD in Portsmouth, and gained new experience working with ETN Training Vision Ireland

We first set up a project for the Interior designers students. Since then, we have continued to expand our project to others such as woodworkers, builders, electricians and now mechanics. In our new two year project, we expect 12 students to take part in 2018 and 12 others in 2019. It will be organized as following: - Week 1: gradual integration in business - Week 2-5: internship (with assessment by teachers at the end of week 5) - Cultural visits during weekends. Our objectives are contained in the title of our project "" Struggle against dropout in vocational schools, support higher education and promote the professional integration of future European citizens"". First, We want to increase success in the success rate of vocational baccalaureat, both in quantity and quality (mentions). This mobility will also add value to a possible pursuit of studies. Then we want to fight against school dropout. Indeed, a dropout trend is observed for lack of motivation, especially in language where students often have difficulties that seem insurmountable to them. The prospect of going abroad allows them to progress upstream (with additional English classes about daily and professional life) and downstream (5 weeks abroad is to good way to progress). Our third objective is mainly related to the professional world. Linguistic mobility combines foreign language and professional skills. Indeed, our students will learn technical English adapted to the practice of their future job and will also discover different work processes. Moreover, obtaining a Europass Mobility will value the skills that our students will have acquired during their internship and increase their chance of professional insertion at national and European level. The expected results are : - Increase the success rate of the vocational baccalauréat, the rate of post secondary studies and facilitate the professional integration of our students. - Developing the international opening of our school and improve its attractiveness. - Promote intra-community exchanges through our partner and sustain our collaboration with the latter. In today's constantly evolving world, we need self confident and skilled professionals with great adaptability. Both personal and professional development is what we seek for our students. In the longer term, we want to establish other partnerships in Europe including high schools similar to ours. Our previous projects also led to one of our teachers to be graduated with the additional certification in English in December 2014 (Non Linguistics Discipline), other colleagues seem to want to follow his trail. These experiences in Malta and these new qualifications of our teachers will pave the way for other projects abroad."
