An exchange period abroad is a great asset when students apply for a job after graduation. The mobility of personnel promotes the internationalisation of teaching and research, the popularity of exchange studies and the creation of joint and double degrees and international elements of our degree programmes. Incoming students and staff promote internationalisation at home for our students and staff who do not have the opportunity to go abroad.Erasmus+ Global mobility grants are extremely important for funding our students, teachers and staff when they go abroad on exchange to programme countries. For incoming students and staff, the mobility grants are a necessity. As a result, the volume of Erasmus+ mobility at our university has increased considerably due to the generous Erasmus+ funding. We actively aim at achieving the goal of balanced student and staff mobility.

As the climate warms, also the soil respiration might increase due to enhanced microbial activity. However, the amount of C allocated to microbial growth might balance out the C lost in soil respiration, and actually the microbial remains contribute significantly to the soil C stocks. Amino sugars(AS) are used as indicators for dead microbial pool in soils since they are part of microbial cell walls. The contribution of fungal cell wall components to soil AS pool is important. Especially melanins, fungal cell wall compounds, contain rather significant amounts of AS, and the fungal hyphae melanin content affects the recalcitrance of the their necromass in soils. The main aim of my project is to find a linkage between native fungal community, especially soil fungal hyphae´s melanin content, and the recalcitrance of microbial remains in soil
