The project was coordinated by the Polish Robert Schuman Foundation and was entitled “Schuman volunteers go local”. The title came from the main aim of our project, which was to create a sense of identification with European values through social engagement of the volunteers in their local communities in Poland.Among 13 volunteers 4 of them improved their knowledge of the EU and spread it among other young people - Polish students from different schools and European Clubs, whom the volunteers met during their school visits, workshops or individual meetings. Volunteers informed these young people about the EU (its structure, functioning, values and programs), current affairs important for youth, volunteering and educational opportunities. Two volunteers worked in a European Club and have had contact with pupils and students on daily basis, supporting after-school extracurricular activities. Two volunteers were involved in the organization of various European educational projects, which allowed them to acquire project management and organizational skills as well as get to know the work of Polish NGOs.Eight volunteers got practical knowledge about special education and special care while supporting teachers and assisting children with disabilities in special kindergartens. All volunteers improved the complex set of skills needed to work with children and practical knowledge on developmental process of children with specific disabilities. Additionally volunteers’ sense of solidarity and empathy has strengthened motivating volunteers to more active engagement in social care and their belief in the importance of the quality of special education.Additionally, volunteers participated in a series of activities that brought a positive impact on the local level. All volunteers had a common task – to organize “local actions” in the communities of their accommodation. With the guidance of the Polish Robert Schuman Foundation the volunteers discovered their respective neighborhoods, established contacts with local stakeholders and fellow inhabitants. After establishing the needs volunteers planned and prepared local actions engaging their local communities. These activities enabled the volunteers to develop their creativity and sense of initiative, improve their entrepreneurial and organizational skills. The combination of regular EVS activities in respective receiving organizations with additional activities in the broader local community fostered intercultural dialogue, multilingualism, tolerance and respect for diversity. This project, especially its additional local activities, have created new partnerships on the local level and thus started a path for closer future cooperation and a more inclusive and tolerant environment in the hosting communities. Along with the competence gained in their receiving organizations volunteers became more culturally aware and have developed an ability to adapt to different environments easily, which means that their employability on the quickly changing European labor market has also increased.

The project is located at Ananda Gaorii Ashram, Farm and Learning Center, a 13 hectare organic farm and seminar facility in the Danish countryside about an hour from Copenhagen. Ananda Gaorii normally has around 20 to 30 residents, including staff, guests and volunteers from Europe and other countries. Ananda Gaorii hosts regular workshops, classes, retreats and trainings in the areas of yoga and meditation, health, permaculture and a wide range of subjects related to building sustainable and harmonious communities. It can accommodate up to 60 people indoors and up to a few hundred during the warmer months when camping is possible. Ananda Gaorii also has a commercial organic bakery which delivers bread and cakes to Copenhagen and the local area. Objectives of the project: Providing long term residents and participants (including the EVS volunteers) with non-formal learning experiences to strengthen their community living skills, deepen their personal growth, give them tools to improve their physical and mental health, broaden their vision and give them an opportunity to learn the values and competencies related to living sustainably and managing an active project; To offer short term learning experiences to those who attend the classes, retreats, workshops and trainings offered at Ananda Gaorii or who simply visit Ananda Gaorii to see what we are doing. This includes learning visits from local schools and high schools; To benefit the local community by organising activities which help build a more resilient community; To improve the organisational competencies of ourselves and our partners; To strengthen our engagement and cooperation with other organisations sharing similar goals; To improve the utility, comfort and educational value of our facilities for the benefit of future guests and participants; To improve the productive and educational value of our garden in line with the principles of permaculture; To promote volunteering. Activities of the project: planning and organising the daily life of the community; learning and practicing yoga and meditation including an option to learn how to teach basic yoga classes; building, maintenance, renovation and interior design of the project facilities; developing the garden, growing food and selling our produce at the local market; developing systems for recycling and efficient use of resources; creating small projects for generating income or improving the daily life of the community; hosting and promoting workshops, retreats and classes; looking after the project's website and social media; guiding and coordinating short term volunteers; hosting experiential learning visits from local schools and folk high schools; exploring the local region; music and learning evenings; swimming at the beach. Between ten to twenty short and long term volunteers were normally present on the project so the duties and responsibilities will be shared amongst all according to individual abilities, interests and the needs of the moment. Six volunteers were selected with skills and talents matching the activities of the project. All of the volunteers except one had completed their university and had some volunteering experience. Some had practical skills such as gardening and construction and others had people skills such as psychology, teaching yoga and speaking Arabic. Results and impacts of the project: Each of the volunteers increased their physical, mental and spiritual well-being, became more aware personally, socially and environmentally, and developed a broader variety of skill sets and self-confidence. Four of the volunteers completed their yoga teacher training and became teachers and for other volunteers and the local community. During the activity several hundred people passed through the project as course participants, visitors and volunteers, learning more about yoga and meditation, healthy living, living in community, growing food, and living sustainably. A major summer event was held focusing on social and economic alternatives addressing the causes of the current environmental, economic and social crises. Visits from local schools and folk high schools were hosted. A new generation of volunteers learned how to grow food organically, manage the garden, feed the community and sell our products successfully at the local market. Volunteers created and maintained a fleet of 20 bikes for the community by repairing old abandoned bikes. As an organisation our management skills and procedures developed greatly during this ten months as we learned to deal with the difficulties and challenges that inevitably arise in a large community consisting mostly of young volunteers.

A research made about this topic ""A decade of digital dependency"" shows that average adults spend more than 24 hours per week online, while one fifth of adults spends more than 40 hours per week on internet. Social media became most influential media of the 21st century. The social media platforms are most important communication tools used by all actors in the society (business community, civil society organizations, political parties etc.). Youth workers are not an exception. After carefully doing a SWOT analysis to all 8 organizations, we made a problem tree and we managed to formulate the bases of this project.Problem: Youth workers do not posses digital competences and they don't know how to know how to use and transfer their digital competences while working with young peopleAim: Improve youth workers digital competence and equip them with the tools that will improve their work with young people.Project objectives:One of the important project objectives is to contribute to improved quality of work and increased visibility of the youth associations.Other objective of the project is to equip group of youth workers with practical knowledge and skills on how effectively to use their digital competences in increasing the visibility of the work of youth associations; how effectively to use digital competences for raising awareness (campaigning) on issues of concern for the young people; and how to effectively use digital competences for increasing visibility and dissemination of the results of projects financially supported by the Erasmus + programme.<< Activities >>Keep up the pace in the digital age will be a training course, taking place from May 14th until May 21st, 2020., in Lipik, Croatia. It will involve 32 youth workers from 8 different countries: North Macedonia, Lithuania, Spain,Croatia, Georgia, Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine - in order to improve their digital competences and to learn how they can improve digital competences of the young people they work with. During the training course, the participants will learn about digital competences that every youth worker should have, they will acquire new attitudes, skills and knowledge which will result with more adequate behavior in their future work with the youth.Taking all these criteria into account, by this moment, we already selected 24 youth workers They all completed an application form and participated in interviews. The final decision was taken in a Skype meeting with all the partners. We communicated the results and we also kept a reserve list. Here is a short description of the pre-selected participant’s profile:• 7 participant with no experience in Erasmus+, less than a year active in the organization, not familiar with digital competences• 4 participants that never participated in Erasmus+, active in the NGO for 1-3 years, low to medium level of knowledge about digital competences • 6 participants that participated in Erasmus+, active in the NGO for 1-3 years, low to medium level of knowledge about digital competences• 3 participants experienced in Erasmus+, active in the NGO for more than 3 years, good knowledge about digital competences• 4 participants very experienced in Erasmus+, active for more than 3 years, good knowledge about digital competencesWe kept 8 more places for participants (one per partner organisation), in order to have space to select newcomers in our associations. We are sure that we will have new youth workers and we also want to give them a chance to participate if they match this profile. The selection will follow the same process and it will take place at the beginning of 2020. In case the newcomers will not match the mentioned profile, we will take youth workers from the reserve list.<< Impact >>Participants:We believe that the 32 youth workers will better understand how to recognize and use digital competences in their work with the youth. They will realize the importance of correct application of the methods belonging to non formal education and they will develop skills for working with youth from different backgrounds.By having the chance to work and interact with other cultures, participants will develop positive attitudes towards diversity and engagement in international activities. They will feel more European and more interested in the European topics.By discovering and working on their digital competences, they will better understand the importance of these competences in their organisation work and work with the youth. On the long term, this will translate in better quality of the work of their organisation, better usage of social media and other digital technologies, while implementing their activities and disseminating their results, we believe youth workers participating will become more open to understanding their needs and they will realize the importance of using digital and other key competences in youth work.Impact on participant organizations:The participants will develop their skills and digital competence, therefor on long term, they will bring positive improvements in our organizations. With more competent youth workers, we will be able to be more efficient and cover more needs in our communities. We will also implement more projects at a local level reaching more beneficiaries and improve visibility of our work and projects organized.By promoting the results and by implementing dissemination activities, our visibility on the local and international level will increase significantly. We will be more present in the offline and online media; we will attract more followers and supporters. We will create new relationships with the media. We will create more connections with local NGOs, especially during the dissemination period. Our new gained skills will be very valuable to our organisation and the local community. The target group:We consider that the target group is formed of young people from our communities. Once the youth workers will implement new knowledge and skills, the youth will also develop their digital competences. They will interact more, communicate in a better way and understand positive and negative sides of digital technology. The motivated youth workers will bring a positive attitude that will also influence the young people way of seeing life. On a long term, the youth will acknowledge the importance of volunteering and will be grateful to the work of the youth workers and their organisations and will also want to make a positive impact in the community to which they belong."

These projects bring together young people from Europe, Ukraine, and Russia, providing a platform and environment where contradictions and disagreements can be discussed, where friends can meet, and where enemies can reconcile. In this framework of cultural sharing, stories can be expressed, music and songs can be sung, films are made, acrobatics performed, meals shared, and coffee and tea drunk together in communion. The first leg of the project was held in southern Siberia in Russia from 22.02-22.03.2015, where 3 groups composed of youth from Russia and Germany built the basic material structures for the Mobile Cafe in the next leg of the project. These consisted of a Yurte in a light bamboo style, a small log cabin, furniture and other interior pieces for the cafe (5 Tachtui). The setting was a beautiful lake landscape in the eastern Saiyan mountains. The participants had overland trecks with snowshoes and skis, learnt from traditional art oriented craftsmen and gained valuable survival knowledge of the wild from local hunters. The various groups lived in traditional houses and in a Mongolian Yurte with a stove-oven. The project ended with The One World Cafe opening and official cultural event, ran together with the locals with whom they bonded and created strong friendships.Structure: 21 Day youth Exchange (01.03-21.03.2015)Participants: 20 + 3 RU; 20 + 3 GEProject Coordintation: Grüner Grashalm e.V. / InterraIn the second part of the project in August 2015, the One World Cafe held its first tour in Russia. The participants of the Project completed any necessary construction for the Cafe and toured around the Krasnoyarsk region through villages and youth clubs in the cities. They initiated small cultural events, interacted with local youth, and met the participants for the future legs of the project.Structure: 21 Day youth Exchange Project Coordintation: Deti Taigi / Interra / Grüner Grashalm e.V.Timing: 03.08.-23.08. 2015The third leg of the project in September 2015 was a tour of the The One World Cultural Cafe through the Cities in the Forest Region of the Karpatan Mountains in West Ukraine. Engagement with locals was achieved through Circus, Street Performance art, clowns, music, and good coffee and tea. The Cafe interacted with local social/youth workers who were interested and engaged in personal projects based around subjects of peace and intercultural conflict management. The next part of the project consisted of a Vision Quest in the same area, after which there was a basic training in the competencies of Democratic cooperation methods, historical backgrounds, and a planning session for the follow up projects. We taught and practiced the Northern American Indigenous “Way of Council“ as well as methods of Non-Violent communication, and we intend to go on by giving support to local youth initiatives by aiding in a school project and assist in the running of the Mid-East Festival. Structure: 10 day Training Course + 10 day Support Work 01.05.-20.05. 2015.Participants: 5 (RU, UA, D, PL, CZ) x 4 = 20Project Coordination: Grüner Grashalm e.V. / Green Cross UA / Khata Maysternya UAActuell now:From January 2016, 3-4 EVS volunteers from Ukraine, EU neighbor countries and Russia are needed to join the project.
