As an outcome of the previous SCforH 2009-2011 work, SCforH guidelines were developed and published. The document provides guidance for sports clubs to develop, implement and promote health-enhancing sporting activities. Also, an European-level network around the issue was established and generated. This project is focused on two main objectives: 1) expert evaluation of previous efforts and efficacy in implementing SCforH programmes and guidelines, and 2) promoting national implementation of SCforH guidelines at both grass-root and governmental levels. The project consortium consist of universities and sport federations from 9 EU-countries (Finland as applicant, partners from Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Sweden). The project outcomes are: 1) Report of current status of the SCforH programmes in EU countries2) Recommendations for sport associations based on best practices on how to best support sport clubs to implement the SCforH Guidelines3) Scientific articles about the evidence base for SCforH programmes4) Updated SCforH guidelines5) A resolution about how to promote SCforH programmes in EU –countriesRecently the implementation of the SCforH programmes was chosen as an indicator to assess HEPA –levels and HEPA –policies in the EU member countries (The Council Recommendation on Promoting Health-enhancing Physical Activity cross Sectors, 2013). As highlighted on the White Paper of the Sport, one cornerstone of sport systems and HEPA are sport clubs. Therefore, grassroot-level sports clubs are in the main focus of this project. The dissemination of project outputs to the partner countries but also to the European level has a major part in the project.

This way, it has a strong link with EU policy documents, such as the Proposal for Strategic Actions on Gender Equality in Sport 2014-2020 and Council Conclusions on Gender Equality in Sport (2014).ENGSO and its partners specifically aim to develop a toolkit “awareness pack” with different tools targeted both to sports organisations and coaches to increase gender equality in coaching. In addition, the activities of the project include the development of an education for mentors, to which suitable persons will participate from partner organisations. Implementation will also take place in the form of national training sessions, where the “awareness pack” will be introduced. In the project, a project management method will be used, in which activities are divided into work packages based on different tasks. This allows quality and efficiency in term of time and budget. Based on this fact, ENGSO will be responsible for the management, monitoring, training sessions, dissemination and communication, Sport Coach UK for the toolkit, the Finnish Coaches Association for the education for mentors, ICCE for sustainability and EOSE for evaluation.

Migration has been a constant force driving the development of human cultures and societies forward from our very beginning. Since the past years and especially the events in 2015, the debate on migration in Europe has been heated, and our aim was to bring a constructive, solution-based angle to the discussion.During the first six months of the project, the ASPIRE research partner, the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) undertook research through needs assessment, a rapid literature review and identification of best practices in order to ensure our project activities are evidence-based and to gain a better understanding of the context and needs of refugees and sports organisations. The research resulted in the ASPIRE Delphi Survey, the ASPIRE Literature Review - Key Terms, and the ASPIRE Literature Review - Findings. The main outcomes were presented in the ASPIRE Scientific Report. The findings of the research were reflected in the ASPIRE Training Module, which provides a rich source of accessible information about migrants and refugees, their support, and the different ways in which sport can play a valuable and effective role in promoting their inclusion. The Training Module consists of 4 chapters on the topics of migration, intercultural dialogue, considering the personal challenges of refugees, and accessible sports organisations. The target group of the manual is people who wish to make their sport or their sports setting more inclusive to people from other backgrounds. After having been tested by the project partners, the Training Module was implemented through National Training Sessions in 9 European Countries – Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Serbia, Spain and Sweden. The trainings included hands-on learning opportunities and introduction to the main areas of the Training Module. Training session topics were migration, intercultural dialogue, psychosocial support, and accessible sport organisations. The trainings targeted people involved in sport, such as instructors, coaches, volunteers, project leaders, administrators and officials, as well as physical education teachers, social and aid workers and refugees with a background on coaching or physical education.Additionally, a Guide for future organisers of ASPIRE Training Sessions was constructed to share some of the lessons that have been learned from earlier ASPIRE Training Sessions. The Guide contains e.g. information about ASPIRE, supplemented by practical ideas for making the most of Training Session. The Guide is designed to be used alongside the other ASPIRE materials, and Training Session coordinators are strongly encouraged to use the Guide alongside the ASPIRE website and the Training Module. The ASPIRE Final Conference gathered 90 people interested in the project topics to network, learn and share best practices. The programme consisted of the Opening & Introduction of the ASPIRE project, a Symposium on Research and Evidence-Base, Parallel Workshops on Capacity Building and Leadership, a High-Level Panel Discussion on Collaboration and Sustainability, as well as important networking breaks. The event was organised in conjunction with the ENGSO General Assembly in order to maximise the number of participants. Finally, the lessons learned throughout the project were compiled into the ASPIRE Final Conclusions, including key takeaways on the topics of e.g. research and evidence-base, capacity building and leadership. The document summarises the most important recommendations from the project activities and outputs, most notably the ASPIRE Scientific Report, the ASPIRE Training Module, and the ASPIRE Final Conference.

P2LSCP contributes to this objective through a research based work programme which analyses the impact of policy and programme interventions and provides tangible and targeted evidence to aid the development of future strategies and activities. The long term social inclusion of newly arrived migrants is one of the biggest societal challenges facing the EU. Sport is recognised as playing a vital role in facilitating this process and providing a positive common ground for integration. However, a deeper understanding of the related policy implementation and the intended and unintended effects of such interventions is required. The P2LSCP partnership will seek a holistic understanding of the following questions: [1] Which policies and strategies already exist in sport based integration for newly arrived migrants? [2] How are these policies rolled out to the level of local sports clubs? [3] What are the structural characteristics of voluntary sports clubs that affect their ability and willingness for integration? [4] How effective are sport-based integration practices? [5] How do these practices change the sports club as an organisation? [6] Is it possible, to generalise the project´s specific findings in order to explain in broader terms how efforts to tackle general societal problems through sport can be incorporated into the practice of voluntary local sports clubs effectively without overburdening or jeopardizing the existing structures of these clubs? P2LSCP, through comparative research provides recommendations regarding the impact of interventions from decision to implementation, providing the possibility to develop effective policy and ultimately, impactful practice.

It is not easy to pinpoint the factors that influence this (financial issues, gender stereotypes, etc.), but what is clear is the looming influence and pressure exerted by the patriarchal discourse on gender equality in sport, not to mention the influence of the media.IIt is not the case that modern sport has managed to do away with sexism and it is still essential to design an equal perspective that allows for the elimination of the gender gap in federated sport, while also tackling the role played by the media as an informative and co-educational tool that needs to be nourished by the presence of women role models who also reflect achievements, efforts and, sports habits and offer new sports examples based on equal, diverse and multilateral participation. GAP WOMEN is geared towards achieving a primary objective centred on promoting women’s participation in sport in order to increase the number of women’s federation licences while also promoting inclusive and sustainable sport. To this end, it will take as its starting point a preliminary study about the current situation of the gender gap in sport and will empower federations and other organisations by offering training (online to drive digitalisation in the industry) and tools to further good practices. Effective communication strategies and inclusive and sustainable gender-parity sport events will be set up to raise awareness, sensitise and stimulate women’s involvement in sport while encouraging the community to dismantle preconceived sexist mindsets and stereotypes.GAP WOMEN is aimed at adult women aged 18-50, including ones from vulnerable groups, and also organisations, federations, clubs and public authorities which need to take on board the commitment to promoting sport for equality, social integration, sustainability and economic development.
