The vocational students of our region come from many companies that operate internationally, some of them are even world market leaders in their field. It is common for them to be deployed abroad very promptly after their training. At this year's graduation ceremony, for example, two trainees could not be handed over their graduation certificate directly because they were employed for their company in Brazil and Colombia. Thanks to our international work experience, we try to prepare the trainees for these situations as early as possible during their training. This project is only part of our internationalization strategy. We have also already carried out projects with trainees in Morocco and China and are currently working on an exchange program with Joliet College in Illinois / USA.<< Objectives >>The trainees should already acquire work experience abroad during their apprenticeship. This happens without the manufacturing pressure they will experience later. In addition, they still have time to process the experience they have gained and to improve in areas that may be needed. They should also learn to cope with limited vocabulary in the world of work and in daily life abroad. In doing so, they should use paraphrasing strategies and electronic aids such as the smartphone in a targeted manner. The trainees should also become more cosmopolitan in general and get to know and sometimes even appreciate a different way of implementing work. But also learn to appreciate one's own performance through training in the German dual system. They should be able to think outside the box and, after their return, better assess and appreciate their own education by comparing them abroad.<< Implementation >>Activities at the Flow in Spain included, in addition to working in Spanish companies:• Visit of Cadaqeus and guided tour of the village. In the footsteps of the artist Dali. • Attending a football match of FC Girona• Tapas evening• Visit to the triathlon facility in Banyoles• Barcelona city tourAs can be seen in the participant reports and in the mobility certificates, the trainees were professionally employed in very different companies. The work included: wiring work for domestic and utility technology, pre- and final assembly of components, checking electronic devices for software and hardware errors, wiring and commissioning supply terminals for marinas in Barcelona, program company-owned websites and program application programs for Raspberry Pi and put them into operation. The activities at the Flow in Italy were, as in Spain, a project with a solar case and the cooperation in different companies. Also in Italy many different leisure activities were carried out with the participants by the accompanying teacher Mr. Schmidt.<< Results >>All participants have received further education and improvement both linguistically, interculturally and professionally. In the joint project with the solar case, they were able to contribute their ability to work in a team and their social skills. They also needed these when working in the companies. The trainees achieved a high degree of independence and teamwork. Everyone was very satisfied with the experiences made and would recommend it without exception. It is clear from the mobility certificates that all of them have improved mainly in English, but also in French and Spanish to some extent. In addition, everyone claims to have become more independent and professionally better. This is exactly the effect we wanted to achieve with the project and the flows. These trainees are now much better prepared for future work abroad.

There is a strong need for the apprentices to be prepared for a work abroad after their apprenticeship. This is due to the fact that the companies in our region are very international and/or have customers all around the world. To meet these requirements more student exchanges with Erasmus+ are planned, too. The sponsoring companies have a high demand on well skilled workers to set up and commission their machines and products abroad, or to solve problems together with international customers. Unfortunately English is not taught as a subject in most parts of the metalworking field. To improve the apprenticeship and to be able to increase the number of flows, four teachers took part in a language course at NILE within the last two years. These teachers now plan to set up and strengthen the job related English teaching in the metalworking jobs and perform new Erasmus+ projects with their students.NILE is renowned as an organiser of language courses for ESL speakers and has been the choice for many of these courses for our regional government of Swabia. Some of them were visited by teachers form our school as well.On the long term our school hopes that the teaching of our apprentices gains a much more international level, especially with the additional lessons in job related English and the increase in exchange projects, which is definitely needed, and thus adding value to the apprentices and the companies in our region.
