The TIISA network comprised of leading academics and key institutions in domestic regulation and global governance of international services trade and investment flows to form a transnational consortia of academics across Europe, Australia and Asia. Together, these partners have the cumulative expertise, international perspectives and geographic reach to significantly advance research and teaching on EU trade policy and promote wider understanding of the process of globalisation and the role of the services sectors in our economies at a global level. The TIISA Network took a cross-disciplinary approach to activities, spanning Economics, Statistics, Law and Business Innovation, to enable coverage of the various modes of international delivery of services and to allow proper coverage of a wide variety of regulatory issues across the globeIn line with the objectives of the Jean Monnet Actions, the TIISA Network enhanced cooperation between higher education institutions, gathered information, exchanged examples of best practice, built knowledge and promoted awareness of the European integration process across the world through the implementation of a suite of coherent and strategic research, teaching and outreach activities. These activities enhanced the visibility of this relatively new field of academic and policy research, not only improving knowledge of the European integration process but contributing to the process itself, as the EU economy is increasingly subject to the process of “servicification” and the single market becomes increasingly digitized.Research focused activities led to high quality research outputs, while simultaneously facilitating meaningful links between people and institutions with mutual research interests in the field of EU integration studies throughout Europe, Australia and Asia and providing opportunities to gather and promote examples of best practice in research and practice. Examples of the activities listed below (and detailed further under implemented activities):Research Workshops, Research Grants Scheme, Support of Doctoral Research via PhD funding. Informed by cutting-edge research on emerging issues undertaken by the network, the activities listed below (and detailed further under implemented activities) promoted excellence in teaching through innovation and collaboration, and helped to shift the manner in which international trade would be taught to the next generation of university students throughout the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia and Asia.The network engaged in and maintained a deep dialogue with government, business and civil society. The activities listed below (and detailed further in implemented activities) helped towards measurable effect on local, regional and global trade, investment and innovation policy discourse throughout Europe, Australia and Asia.The global composition and broad geographic reach of the TIISA Network ensured that all activities undertaken by the TIISA Network incorporated a wide range of perspectives, highlighted examples of best practice in research, teaching and policy-making from Europe, Australia and Asia, and promoted exchange of knowledge and enhanced cooperation between higher education institutions and other bodies around the world.
