Unemployment has been identified as a big concern in Europe and beyond. Today’s world is marked by widespread focus on economic development, technological advancement and global integration. Yet, we still witness widespread unemployment, especially among young people who are left outside the prosperity loop and who find it more and more difficult to access ever-changing labor markets. This problem has been aggravated given the current context concerning young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Europe. The frustration and disempowerment of the disadvantaged youth in general and these young migrants and asylum seekers in particular can breed low self-esteem, low motivation, cynicism and radicalization. We believe that long term solution of this problem lies not in externalities of macro economics or policy but in hearts and minds of young people. A renewed mindset is needed for young people to understand that even in the most difficult situations they have more control over their lives than they think and through entrepreneurial spirit, procactivity and strategic approach they can spot values, seize opportunities, assess and take risk and grow. Instead of seeking a job, they can create one for themselves. Overall aims & Objectives:The main aim of this two-stage Youth Exchange was to create a platform and a process where young people experienced empowerment themselves and were equipped to empower others in their communities through exchange of ideas, stories, attitudes, techniques and tools that promoted entrepreneurial spirit and skills of young people in general and marginalized youth among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants in particular. One journey: 2 stages! The international exchange project “Powering Youth Entrepreneurial Potential” was comprised of two stages: The first stage was the weekend-long Web Conference where participants met up in the on-line realm, explored the subject, its challenges and opportunities and decided the themes, topics and methods of Exchange. In between the first and the second stage participants did research and observation in their local communities to find useful insights and opportunities for value creation, entrepreneurship and employability. The second stage was the actual Youth Exchange which gathered insights, learning, inspirations and experience of participants from their local communities and translated them into concrete business ideas and quality youth projects to be carried out under Erasmus + Programme. Objectives of the first stage- Weekend Web Conference (10-11 November 2018) were:-Explore the concept of self-employment and achieve a common understanding of youth employability.-Analyze the current situation of young people today especially marginalized youth among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants and understand their hopes, dreams fears and barriers for their personal development.-Form teams from participants to do research and observation in their local communities after they return in order to find useful insights and opportunities for entrepreneurship Objectives of the second stage-Youth Exchange Activity in Armenia (8-17 December 2018) were: -Gather insights, learning, inspirations and experience of participants from their local communities and translate them into concrete project ideas. -Equip participants with knowledge and skills in the field of project management in order to enable them to develop quality youth projects. -Identify existing resources for the young entrepreneurs and share know how on social enterprises to link youth among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants with business and entrepreneurship. -Promote Erasmus + Programme and explain how young people especially marginalized youth among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants can be involved in it. -Develop concrete business ideas and entrepreneurial initiatives. -Transfer skills and knowledge by developing and publishing online the ""Catalog of Youth Entrepreneurship Ideas and Initiatives"" The Youth Exchange was based on non formal learning methods and principles, intercultural dialogue and communication including group discussions, interactive presentations, participant’s lead workshops, etc. Youthpass tool was used throughout the project to help young people reflect regularly on their personal learning journeys. The methodology of the project stimulated active participation and sense of initiative and involvement of the learners. It aimed to create a learning space with better self-awareness and awareness of the needs and goals of the groups of young people they work with to enhance the results of the learning process and give birth to high quality projects led by the participants in the future."

The European migrant crisis has reached critical levels and has dominated media coverage of the continent. The frustration and disempowerment of the disadvantaged youth in general and young migrants and asylum seekers in particular risks breeding low self-esteem, low motivation, cynicism and radicalization. Across Europe social entrepreneurs are stepping up to help address the social issues that have resulted from the migration crisis. Examples are many: A group of young people in Austria (Flüchtlinge Wilkommen) decided to create a website that connects individuals with spare rooms or apartments with a person who has fled their home country. Otvorena Mreža in Coratia was set up with the aim of ensuring everybody has free access to the internet. Talentify in Austria is a peer-to-peer online platform that connects young people with other young people and tutors to develop their academic and social skills, regardless of their social or financial background. And so on. However, whilst the sector flourishes, there is limited involvement from migrant, refugee and ethnic minorities. Lack of access to credit and funding alongside, educational, religious, gender and language barriers all contribute to the issue. As a result, opportunities for potentially high impact and community-focused enterprises and entrepreneurs are lost. Youth workers and youth leaders working directly with young refugees/asylum seekers and migrants are uniquely positioned to raise awareness of social enterprise amongst these minorities and to help grow the number of migrant and refugee social entrepreneurs. Aim of the training course:The training course aimed to develop the capacity of youth workers to raise awareness and address migrant and refugee related issues in their work with young people using the tool of social entrepreneurship. The training course was based on non formal learning methods and principles, intercultural dialogue and communication including group discussions, interactive presentations, participant’s lead workshops, team work, etc. The training offered the implementation and reflection of pedagogical approaches and tools to educate about the current situation of refugees in Europe, anti-discrimination education and stereotypes. It aimed to create a learning space with better self-awareness and awareness of the needs and goals of the groups of young people they work with to enhance the results of the learning process and give birth to high quality projects led by the participants in the future. The project aimed to reveal the value of the Erasmus+ Programme as a tool for youth empowerment and raised awareness about Youthpass tool for supporting young people harness skills and personal growth through self-reflection and learning documentation. Objectives of the training course were: - Widen perspectives of participants on the concept of social entrepreneurship as a tool for tackling local social problems of marginalized young people, refugees/asylum seekers and migrants; - Identify existing resources for the young social entrepreneurs and share know how on social enterprises; - Explore creative tools and methodologies for creating conditions for a dialogue, establishing a culture of diversity, acceptance and pluralism and for dealing with fears that exist in our society; - Provide participants with educational tools and methodologies that will enable them to act as multipliers on refugee related issues in their work with young people; - Learn to use Youthpass and the Key Competences for creative process of skill harnessing, self-reflection and documentation of the personal learning process; - Promote Erasmus + Programme and explain how young migrants and refugees can be involved in it; - Develop concrete social entrepreneurial initiatives; - Develop concrete projects to be applied under Erasmus + Programme; - Transfer knowledge and skills by developing and publishing online the booklet ""Reshaping Youth Work Using the Tool of Social Entrepreneurship”."

The project aims to provide young youth workers with the theoretical and practical skills in environmental education to develop awareness, career prospects, social and personal empowerment, and replicable teaching tools in social and environmental education. The project aspires to change the perspective on the crisis, see it as an opportunity to re-imagine the future by taking individual and collective responsibility for sustainable growth and inclusive society through replicable practices grounded on the eight learning skills' awareness and achievements. The objectives of the project ""Inclusive Youth Work for a Regenerative Future"" are based on ecocentrism instead of anthropocentrism, an alternative perception of reality. We aim to introduce youth workers via non-formal education focusing on permaculture principles and definitions. This approach seeks to provide the participants with theoretical and practical tools to introduce ecological regenerative actions in everyday life, in the small habits that create a significant change in the long term.We detected three fundamental needs coming from youth workers we address with our Training Course: 1) knowledge: improve learning performance, career prospects and professional profiles through the acquisition of new knowledge on Earth and lost ancient practices combined with contemporary scientific knowledge; 2) training: enhance employability, increase the sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, of empowerment, of motivation by learn-by-doing, communicating in foreign languages, and replicable non-institutional education and training. Non-formal education tools provide a valuable opportunity to shift vision and to reproduce and multiply these practices within youth workers' or trainers' communities; 3) interconnection: enhance self-empowerment and self-esteem, intercultural awareness, learn to address the needs of the disadvantaged, increase support for and promotion of mobility activities for learners, acknowledge the need for companionship and collaborative efforts to affect change. In our trainings, we develop and apply democratic non-violent communication to express individual needs and to build active listening, participation, empathy, proactive reactions, and local community resilience. The three primary concepts around which the project and the non-formal training evolve are:People Care – concentrating on the positives of our reality and on empowering oneself by taking responsibility through non-violent, democratic communications and non-formal education considered a learner-centered, peer-to-peer, participatory educational approach, lead by example;Earth Care – concentrating on transmitting ancient traditional and contemporary scientific knowledge on the concept of living soil, considered a parameter to measure the health and the well being of society;Fair Share – concentrates on disavowing the false idea of continuous and perpetual growth, which is neither possible nor acquirable, further bringing awareness to the anthropocentric perspective's effects on reality and the exploitation of limited resources.<< Implementation >>This project aims to organize the international training course ""Inclusive Youth Work for a Regenerative Future"" which will take place from 1-15 September 2022 (15 days) in Yerevan, Armenia. Total 32 participants from Germany, Armenia, Georgia and Croatia will be involved.""Inclusive Youth Work for a Regenerative Future"" project features an innovative educational structure, divided into several fixed sessions that provide the teacher/facilitator with the necessary flexibility required by the needs that may arise among the group of participants and required by the venue. The sessions develop around the ethics and principles of permaculture and People and Earth care and Fair share objectives. Along with the sessions, there will be moments of practical and hands-on cooperative and collaborative activities, where the participants will apply the newly acquired knowledge and technical skills in excursions, compost-making, garden beds planning and building, and, only if the period is adequate, through pruning, cuttings, transplants and other.Participants' selection will be based on a collaborative procedure with partner organizations. Our primary target will be unemployed youth or subjects involved in socially, geographically, and economically disadvantaged youth. Secondly, we will consider the applicants' interest and awareness in at least one of the following project-related matters: environmental issues, climate change, sustainability practices, regenerative lifestyles, and social inclusion – which will be considered a fundamental requirement for the selection. Thirdly, we will give relevance to applicants participating in their first youth mobility training. Fourthly, we will consider the applicant's potential contribution to the project's implementation success and the dissemination of the results. Additionally, we will strongly consider the multiplier effect each applicant may have in their communities in targeting secondary groups. The final selection of the participants will consider gender balance, age diversity, and diverse backgrounds and experiences.<< Results >>Through the promotion and the use of the Youthpass' 8 learning skills certifying learning and acquired competencies, the project results aim to increase awareness on the well being that regenerative habits and practices provide to those who apply them and to those who experience the positive social and environmental effects. We expect the project to impact the way participants, participating organizations, and target groups understand and work towards achieving global sustainable development goals, namely in the fight against climate change and in building inclusive, environmentally sustainable, and regenerative societies. We expect for the youth workers mobility to greatly improve their learning performance, career prospects, and professional profiles through the acquisition of new knowledge, language skills, new technical skills, producing higher employability and job opportunities in the field of sustainability and youth work.Additionally, through the instruments provided by learning-by-doing and replicable non-institutional non-formal education and training, we expect them to improve their work quality, understanding, and responsiveness towards diversity, their increased sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, their motivation and empowerment. We expect our project to affect three different target subjects at three different geographical levels: the participants, the organizations, and the local community, at the local, national, and international levels.More specifically, The project is expected to impact:i) Participants':- personal development and empowerment in terms of self-confidence, team-building, listening, trust, body awareness (ability to adapt to new environments, food, and habits);- understanding of cultural differences and different approaches to society, education, and the human body;- new and increased socio-educational capacities in dealing with youth from different cultural and social backgrounds, including tools to prevent the radicalization of violence and to promote social inclusiveness;- new and increased professional skills and competencies in environmental education teaching methods;- more vital entrepreneurial spirit and creativity in project development, management, and follow-up;- improved linguistic skills in different languages (English as the common language of the training, participants' native language);- improved digital and oral communication skills;- stronger appeal for the labor market and increased employability in sustainable development, environmental education, social integration, multiculturalism, etc.ii) Participating organizations:- increased social and organizational capacities, international dimension, and attractiveness. More specifically:- creation of long-lasting partnerships with international partners, measured on the quantity and quality of future projects, on professional exchanges and collaborations, etc.- implementation and management of similar projects in the future;- actively engage with their community and institutions of origin by organizing activities, workshops, etc. to spread the project objectives and results;- establish themselves and gain recognition as professional sustainability organizations;- active engagement to tackle the environmental and migration crisis and their consequences on youth workers organizations and European societies.iii) Target groups:- to involve primary and secondary target groups beyond the status of mere beneficiaries and act as multipliers to spread the content and results of the project by supporting the project's values, by sharing the infographic sustainability manual and other digital material produced during the program in their language; promoting and getting involved in similar activities in their communities; developing new partnerships outside of the direct project network and based on the same values (e.g. Permaculture programs in refugee communities, etc.); adopting policies and actions based on the project content and values. At the local level, the project wants to support civil society actions towards environmental awareness, eco-friendly practices, formal and informal education learning centers, promoting events, non-violent communication, active citizenship, and community building. At the national level, This project activity will encourage the development of youth workers' initiatives in environmental awareness and motivate institutions to integrate innovative teaching and learning methods in sustainable development. At the international level, our desired impact is to create and reinforce our national and international network of organizations to promote high-quality projects to inform and raise youth awareness on the environment and climate change, on resilience, empowerment, and sustainable development."

These include vulnerable youth groups which were marginalized before the pandemic by pre-existing structural barriers and inequities. Some of the decisive measures to counter the outbreak, such as physical distancing, self-isolation and shutdown of economic activities, have saved the lives of millions of people but at the same time created additional hardships and barriers for those already left behind, especially migrants and refugees.Migrants and refugees are particularly at risk of stigmatization and xenophobia and being subject to formal and informal discrimination as the socio-economic impact of the pandemic are increasingly felt across society. Besides, the mental health and psychosocial well-being of disadvantaged youth from migrant and refugee backgrounds are greatly compromised as they are usually far away from their families and support systems, face uncertainty about their future, loss of livelihood opportunities, financial hardship, loss of loved ones, enduring effects of isolation, and a general sense of fear.Research suggests that the holistic five-dimension method of MIND-BODY-HEART-SPIRIT-ENVIRONMENT helps young people recover by digging deep, taking personal responsibility for everything they think, feel, say and do, and tapping into powerful inner resources they may not even know they have. It creates a space for exploration and expression of identities, challenging discrimination and social exclusion, and fostering intercultural dialogue. The 5th dimension, “Environment” promotes environmentally sustainable and responsible behavior, raising awareness about the importance of green space in benefiting mental health through reduced exposure to air pollution, noise and stress, as well as through enhanced physical activity, social networks and social participationThe overall aim of the project:The three-staged Youth Exchange Project “Individual and Community Renewal for Social Inclusion” aims to create a platform where young people will experience personal renewal through MIND-BODY-HEART- SPIRIT-ENVIRONMENT approach that leads to social inclusion and become change agents in their local communities in general and among refugees and migrant communities in particular. The project consists of 3 stages and encompasses 2 Youth Exchange Activities:Stage #1: Youth Exchange A1 in Yerevan, Armenia (14-23 May 2022)32 young people from 4 countries (Germany, Armenia, Georgia and Estonia) will gather in Armenia to reach the following objectives:- Analyze the current situation and risks facing young people today, particularly young people among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants.- Learn and practice the holistic method of MIND-BODY-HEART-SPIRIT-ENVIRONMENT which will lead to improved intercultural competencies and integration of young people.- Raise awareness about environmentally sustainable and responsible behavior.- Equip participants to engage in their communities by establishing Inclusion and Excellence Groups in Stage #2 that will foster dialogue and mutual understanding.- Explore tools and methods that prevent radicalization and foster harmony and inclusion.- Decide themes, topics and methods of the Youth Exchange Activity A2.Stage #2: Participants will locally initiate “Inclusion and Excellence Groups” allowing disadvantaged youth to experience and practice this holistic and inclusive intercultural approach of MIND-BODY-HEART- SPIRIT-ENVIRONMENT in local communities. The network of 8 clubs will reach 160 disadvantaged youth and prepare the ground for Stage #3.Stage #3: Youth Exchange A2 in Yerevan, Armenia (1-10 February 2023). 32 participants will convene back again this time to reach the following objectives:- Practice weaving European values of tolerance, pluralism, non-discrimination, justice, solidarity and democracy into inclusion activities.- Share good practices from Stage #2 (Inclusion and Excellence Groups) in contributing to the mental health and psychosocial well-being of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.- Equip participants with knowledge and skills in the field of project management in order to enable them to develop quality youth projects.- Design and develop social inclusion projects for young people with fewer opportunities from refugees and migrants backgrounds to be applied under Erasmus+.- Promote Erasmus+ and explain how young people can be involved in it.- Transfer knowledge and skills through developing and publishing online the booklet “The Full Inclusive Person”The Youth Exchange will be based on non-formal learning methods and principles, self-reflection, intercultural communication, artistic expression (including painting, drama, dance, music, literature, photography), cultural submersion (using the DIVE Model), group discussions, interactive presentations, participant’s lead workshops, etc.<< Implementation >>This project has 3 stages and encompasses 2 Youth Exchange Activities:-Stage #1: Youth Exchange A1 in Yerevan, Armenia (14-23 May 2022). This will provide a platform for 32 young people from Germany, Armenia, Estonia and Georgia to gather together, interact, learn and practice the holistic five-dimension method of MIND-BODY-HEART-SPIRIT-ENVIRONMENT and get ready to establish “Inclusion and Excellence Groups” in their communities.-Stage #2: Using the learning from A1, participants will pilot and facilitate “Inclusion and Excellence Groups” in their communities where they will invite other young people to experience and practice inclusion activities based on this five-dimension method of MIND-BODY-HEART-SPIRIT-ENVIRONMENT that helps young people recover. There will be 2 clubs in every country (total 8 clubs in Germany, Estonia, Armenia and Georgia) reaching 20 persons each. This network of clubs is expected to reach around 160 disadvantaged youth.-Stage #3: Youth Exchange A2 in Yerevan, Armenia (1-10 February 2023). 32 participants will gather together again to cement learning, share best practices for fighting radicalization and reinforcing social inclusion on all levels (mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and environmental), prepare future projects to be applied under Erasmus + Programme and transfer knowledge.Participants of the project are between 18-30 years old. They are active members of the partner organizations, are passionate about intercultural learning and are willing to have a unique experience of empowerment, exchange and contact building through this project.Particular attention is paid to the involvement of marginalized youth among refugees/asylum seekers and migrants. Through stories we explain how things are, why they are, and our role and purpose. Stories are the building blocks of knowledge, the foundation of memory and learning. Stories connect us with our humanness and link past, present, and future by teaching us to anticipate the possible consequences of our actions.Today’s world is marked by information overload where young people are exposed to constant flood of news and data. Migration and refugee crisis in Europe is adding a new layer to this overflow of media. Often the stories and narratives are put in negative light and can dangerously lead to frustration and disempowerment of the disadvantaged youth in general and young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in particular. This, in turn, can disrupt integration processes and create a natural breeding ground for cynicism and radicalization.Stories on the other hand can inspire hope and bring about change. Storytelling can influence attitudes and change perceptions by revealing new perspectives. At the same time, the very process of storytelling/story creating can be a powerful healing process as creators analyze and observe themselves, their thought processes, emotions as well as contexts and other people’s behaviors. The Training Course ""Tell Your Story"" gathered 32 youth workers and youth leaders from 4 countries (Germany, Georgia, Armenia and Italy) who work on integration and social inclusion projects with disadvantaged youth in general and young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in particular and developed their capacity to use Storytelling method to create transformational learning processes and environments. The Training Course ""Tell Your Story"" was originally planned to take place the summer of 2020 but because of the pandemic it was postponed and finally took place in Yerevan, Armenia from 12-19 August 2021.The training course was based on non-formal learning methods and principles with special focus on storytelling in various different ways, creative writing, improvised theater method, team-building, community work, creative brainstorming/discussions, intercultural dialogue and pedagogical approaches and tools that educated about the current situation of refugees in Europe, anti-discrimination education and stereotypes. The learning space in this TC was anchored on the value of the Erasmus+ Programme as a tool for youth empowerment and raised awareness about Youthpass tool for supporting young people harness skills and personal growth through self-reflection and learning documentation. Objectives of the training course were:-Introduced and equipped youth workers/leaders with the non-formal learning method of Storytelling as a Pedagogical Tool.-Developed skills of youth workers/leaders to use the method of Storytelling in their work with young people with fewer opportunities in general and young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in particular to guide them towards social inclusion.-Learned how Storytelling method can be used to create environments for dialogue, establishing a culture of diversity, acceptance and pluralism and for dealing with fears that exist in our society.-Explored ways to build a good storytelling project under Erasmus + Programme with the right methodology to fight social exclusion and radicalization.-Learned to use Youthpass and the Key Competences for creative process of skill harnessing, self-reflection and documentation of the personal learning process;-Promoted Erasmus + Programme and explained how young migrants and refugees can be involved in it;-Transferred knowledge and skills by developing and publishing online the booklet ""Storytelling for Social Inclusion- A Guide for Youth Workers”.<< Implementation >>This project organized the international training course “Tell Your Story"" which was originally planned to take place the summer of 2020 but because of the pandemic it was postponed and finally took place in Yerevan, Armenia from 12-19 August 2021.
