The project consisted of three stages: preparatory arrangements, training course and follow up activities. The main activity was the training course tackling the development communication skills, which took place in Slovenia in Ajdovščina. The main activity took place in Ajdovščina, Slovenia, where 22 people (18 participants + support team) gathered to experience an intense 6-day training course. Topics covered were: nonviolent communication, transaction analysis, giving feedback, mediation, public speaking, assertive communication, ICT tools for communication and the role of communication skills in the context of youth work. The participants were all active youth workers, facilitators and educators from the partner countries Slovenia, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Latvia, Finland, Romania, Cyprus and the Netherlands. The main objective of this project was to equip participants of the TC to become ambassadors of tolerant dialogue and to raise awareness on the importance of communication skills and tolerance in the light of the changing European society. Specific goals of this project were: G1. To gain the knowledge about different forms, strategies, norms and mistakes of communication. G2. To gain practical skills of communication to be used in working with diversity and inclusion G3. To experience the barriers of cooperation and learn the strategies to cope with them in daily life G4. To gain skills of specific communication methods, such as feedback, mediation, nonviolent communication, mediation, transactional analysis and public speaking G5. To acquire skills of ICT tools for communication and trigger discussion on media literacy and critical thinking G6. To plan and implement at least one follow up session about communication for cooperation in each partner country G7. To produce various forms of dissemination material The main project activity enabled participants to learn about new aspects in terms of communication that changed their perspective on human communication and gave them a fresh view on the topic. They have strengthened their skills, know-how and competence in terms of communication and improved their employability chances in the labor market. The participants were genuinely interested in the project topics and have prepared detailed plans on how to transfer this know-how to their local environments, present it to young people in their home countries. This phase was rather successful which led to the project contributing to the spreading the skills of tolerant communication into 9 different countries. We are pleased that the project topic attracted people, eager to learn and improve and we hope to have given them useful tools which will help them deal with communication challenges, conflicts and support them in creating a European culture of peace, tolerance and mutual understanding.

The 7-day training course (plus 2 travel days) took place between 15 - 23rd of June 2019 in Oivanki, one of the Finnish Youth Centres and town of Kuusamo, Finland. Oivanki was also the coordinator and local organizer of of the project. Our partner team had witnessed a skill shortage in the field youth worker. Neither the staff at NGOs-nor even always the young people that they work with, know how to craft professional looking videos. Even though the skills required to do so are actually quite simple to learn, there are misconceptions that you need professional equipment or a high level of expertise to make impressive films and video pieces. The project was designed for youth/social workers, youth leaders, volunteers, NGO´s staff and representatives from our project partners, who have a passion for digital media or are highly motivated to learn about them, with the purpose to: -Develop the video-making and promotional competencies of youth/social workers.”To Reach this purpose, we set the following objectives: -Improve youth worker's knowledge on how to create a story, deliver a clear message online, creating a storyboard, copyrights, and basics of video-making. -Improve youth worker's skills on video-making, editing and publishing videos online. -Develop youth worker's empathy towards people with fewer opportunities, in order to make a positive change in their NGOs and communities -Improve youth worker's confidence in digital competencies and increased their usage in daily work. The participants participated in training sessions built around non-formal education methods. During the project's major activity we worked in cooperation with local NGOs of Kuusamo town. Our participants used the knowledge and skills they have learnt in earlier sessions to produce promotional videos for these organisations. The local organisations brought their participants in the project. The videos produced by our participants were used as publicity tools for the Kuusamo NGOs, resulting in increased attention for them and their activities. During the project the participants learned about the work of Finnish organisations, as well as shared their knowledge in an international community, as well as with the locals. The process of video-making was a tool for intercultural learning and gaining a deeper understanding of local NGO´s work. In long term impact, participants are multipliers of knowledge about the topic of video making and promotion inside and outside of their organisations. This encouraged other youth workers and young people to deal with similar experiences and get to know the European programs and in particular Erasmus + and the opportunities offered by it. According the evaluations the professional competencies of participants have raised and they are more able to create high quality videos and promote them online. They are more be able to reach bigger audience and attract people to watch their videos, which it immediately scale solutions to big challenges, helps find new donors and volunteers, and get supporters to take action, etc. This positively effects on enhancing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) uptake in teaching and learning in European countries, and ensures priorities of Digital Education Action Plan adopted by European Commission. Generally, level of quality, attractiveness and impact of videos produced by NGO’s on international level has raised. This developed empathy towards people with fewer opportunities and raise willingness to make a positive change among local communities. The project has fostered quality improvements in youth work, in particular through enhanced cooperation between organisations in the youth field and/or other stakeholders. We believe that impact will effect into system of education in terms of using digital technology in daily life. The participating organisations and participants have become more interested towards international opportunities and learned about how they can be used in developing the work of organisations, as well as personal working abilities.
