Belarus (BY) borders 3 EU countries, the EU accounts for the largest share of BY forest exports and seen as a major source for investments, and agro- and ecotourism. This introduces an important European and, moreover, a complex multilevel dimension in land- and forest management in BY, and understanding of the EU governance context becomes an important competence for young professionals working in these fields, especially with a view of growing transboundary cooperation under EU neighbourhood policies. Tо address this, we put forward the central objective to develop, teach and disseminate a 9 ECTS module for masters’ students consisting of three courses discussing EU experience in land-use governance, forest governance and landscape planning from the perspectives of its application in BY and EU transboundary cooperation. Auxiliary objectives are: (1) to develop innovative teaching and learning techniques based on interactive approaches, supervised group work and broader use of student evaluations, (2) to make forestry and land management practitioners aware of successful EU practices, promoting their integration into operations and planning, and (3) to launch research of multilevel governance systems emerging in forestry and land management in BY that would enhance our understanding of applicability of EU experiences in BY and contribute to the developing curricula. To facilitate teaching, learning and course dissemination, we develop an e-learning platform with course material and reading available online. The indicators of achievement include: launched module, enrolled students, re-trained early stage faculty, attendees of the international conferences on forest and land-use governance in transboundary context, quality conference papers published in conference proceedings, papers in peer-reviewed journals published by the faculty, practitioners invited to lecture in the module.

"The overall objectives of the EMEU project – the expansion of knowledge of students and other members of the academic community of the BSU, other educational institutions in Belarus on historical, social, legal and other problems of genesis and existence of ethnic minorities in the EU through the development and implementation into the educational process of the Faculty of History of the BSU new topics and courses on relevant issues; promotion of the BSU as a center of high-level education and research in European issues.The intended outcomes of the EMEU project: introduction of updated programs on such disciplines as ""Social and Cultural Anthropology"", ""Theory of ethnicity and nationalism"", ""Law in Modern Society"" for the first degree students, the development of intensive courses: on historical problems of ethnic minorities in the EU for students the second stage, on methodology of the research on problems of ethnic minorities – for postgraduate level, a series of training workshops, student debates, webinars with European experts, development and publication of educational materials, a collection of sources on the problems of the project; international conference. All the results of the EMEU will be presented in the form of OER.As the project leads to broadening & deepening of competence for all groups, as a result – improving competitiveness & (or) personal development (that is perceived as positive processes & attractive effect), generally EMEU leads to the achievement of the immediate objectives of the Jean Monnet program to enhance the attractiveness of European integration."

"EU-pro aims at introducing European approach in project management for Belarusian students and academic/ administrative staff members as well as broad academic community through developing expert competencies required for successful participation in EU programs and initiatives and deepening understanding of EU international cooperation and development aid policy.Project provides the following activities:- delivering the training course entitled ""Development and Management of EU-funded Educational/Research Projects "" (EU-Pro). It is delivered annually during the spring and fall semesters. The course study load is 32 academic hours per semester (64 hours per year respectively). The training course will be composed of 16 classes (2 academic hours each). The course is open for all specialties from all levels of study, as well as for young researchers, academic and administrative staff members. - producing deliverables to support the teaching activity and ensure its lasting use: 1. the Web-site EU-Pro www.eu-pro.bsu.by2. Online Database of EU Programs and Instruments 3. Training Aid “Practical Guide for Development and Management of EU-funded Project in Belarus”.- conducting QA and dissemination activities, namely holding annual InfoDay on EU Programmes and Instruments.The training course will combine theory on EU international cooperation in the sphere of education /science, EU programs / instruments used to fund project-based activities as well as practical seminars on building competencies on project design, LFM development, budgeting, planning events, team building, needs analysis , etc. The methodology and content of the course will introduce novelties in BSU curriculum and foster implementation of modern approaches in teaching & learning.To disseminate the results and outcomes of the project a specific activity is designed to be conducted during the 2nd year of the project, namely the Annual InfoDays on EU programs and instruments. The event is be open to a wide audience and apart from raising awareness of wide academic community of Belarus on European issues in HE it will enable to reach the necessary enrollment rate insecond and third intakes to EU-pro training course."
