As in the years before, Offenburg University of Applied Sciences focused in this project on the exchange of students; in addition, exchange of academic and administrative staff was realized just like in the preceding years.Offenburg University of Applied Sciences offers its students numerous possibilities to spend a semester abroad within the framework of a network which has been built up, fostered, adapted and enlarged (if necessary) over many years. Students are counselled in the International Office (IO) on the Erasmus+ Programme on a study period at a participating partner-university; the IO supports the students from the beginning with counselling and application-formalities, until he/she has successfully completed their stay at a partner-university. Internships with Erasmus+ are handled by KOOR/BEST (consortium at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences), after a first information session at the IO.Students highly appreciate the support offered to them. From the final reports it can be seen clearly, how important an Erasmus-stay is with regard to academic, linguistic and inter-cultural competences, as well as flexibility, tolerance and appreciation of other cultures in general. All this contributes doubtless to a successful job-application at a later stage.Professors and employees gain a lot from a stay with Erasmus+ at a partner-university as well. T see names of partner-universities in an abstract manner on a list is simply not enough: A personal experience, getting to know different teaching- and working-methods in another European country, fosters the appreciation and willingness to respond to other persons’ needs even if the stay is short.In the context of this project the contemplated number of mobilities was reached in general only with minor changes, however, we wish for a continuous increase of mobilities and a solid expansion and deepening of some cooperations in the medium term. The participants’ satisfaction is very high, this level of quality should be kept in the future.With regard to lectures taught in English language, additional and improved offers for Erasmus+ Incoming students ought to be created further, we have already started measures for this and seen the first positive results. Accordingly we hope for an increase of exchange numbers.Overall we did not experience any major difficulties during the time reported and hope for a successful continuation in the future.

Seit Gründung der Hochschule Offenburg (HS Offenburg) im Jahr 1964 ist erfolgreiche Internationalisierung von exzellenter Lehre und Forschung eines der wesentlichen Profilelemente. Die Hochschule ist im Eurodistrikt Strasbourg-Ortenau beheimatet und den Zielen der europäischen Bildungsagenda eng verbunden. Ein internationaler Campus, international ausgerichtetes Studium und Lehre sowie internationale Forschung sind die drei zentralen Handlungsfelder der Internationalisierungsstrategie. Die HS Offenburg legt großen Wert auf die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Universitäten und ist zeitgleich von einer regionalen Verankerung in einem globalisierten Lebens-, Arbeits- und Wissenschaftsumfeld geprägt. Schon heute werden zahlreiche europäische Potenziale, beispielsweise im TriRhenaTech-Netzwerk oder dem Interreg-Programm, genutzt.Der Schwerpunkt der Projektbeteiligung lag auf der Mobilität von Studierenden, Dozierenden sowie Mitarbeitenden in der Programmlinie KA103. Grundlegendes Ziel war, durch eine nachhaltige und enger verzahnte Zusammenarbeit mit Partnerhochschulen, die Mobilitäten zu erhöhen. Die HS Offenburg heiß jederzeit Hochschulangehörige von Partnerhochschulen willkommen und dies wird auch sehr positiv angenommen. Dies lässt positive Rückschlüsse darauf ziehen, dass die erarbeiteten Maßnahmen, wie z.B. ein erhöhtes Angebot an englischsprachigen Veranstaltungen oder eine verbesserte Darstellung der Serviceangebote, geeignete Maßnahmen waren. Gleichermaßen zeigt dies auf, dass diese Neugestaltung nachhaltig implementiert werden und zukünftig weiter ausgebaut werden muss. Auch in diesem Bereich hat sich gezeigt, dass eine enge Betreuung einen sehr positiven Einfluss auf die Zufriedenheit der Incomings hat. Bei den Studierenden, Dozierenden und Mitarbeitenden der HS Offenburg lässt sich rückblickend ebenso ein grundlegend positives Fazit ziehen. Globale Lernmobilität ist ein wesentlicher Aspekt der Aktivitäten der HS Offenburg und wird auch in der Region von den ansässigen Unternehmen geschätzt. Gerade durch die Studierendenmobilität im Rahmen des Erasmus+ Projektes erlernen die Studierenden neue Kenntnisse im Bereich von Fremdsprachen, interkulturellem Wissen oder länderübergreifendem Teamwork. Diese Kompetenzen sind ein enormer Profit für zukünftige Arbeitgeber. Ein Schwerpunkt der Arbeit des International Office, in Zusammenarbeit mit den Fakultäten liegt daher darin, den Studierenden den Zugewinn aufzuzeigen und damit die Motivation bei den Studierenden für einen Auslandaufenthalt zu erhöhen. Neben regelmäßigen Infoveranstaltungen bei verschiedenen Anlässen, wie z.B. dem Studieninfotag oder der Career Messe, wird sehr großen Wert auf eine individuelle Beratung durch die Outgoing-Koordinatorin gelegt. Dabei hat sich gezeigt, dass eine individuelle Beratung nicht zu ersetzen ist und maßgeblich dazu beiträgt, die Mobilitätsrate zu halten und zu erhöhen. Leider zeigt sich auch wie in den Jahren zuvor, dass trotz immenser Anstrengungen im Vorfeld, teilweise Mobilitäten kurz vor Beginn des Auslandsaufenthaltes noch abgesagt werden. Grundsätzlich bietet die HS Offenburg ihren Studierenden zahlreiche Möglichkeiten, ein theoretisches Studiensemester im Ausland zu verbringen. Über Jahre wurde ein Netzwerk an Partnerhochschulen mit dem Schwerpunkt in Europa aufgebaut, das stetig erweitert wird. Neue Studiengänge an der Hochschule haben dies erfordert. Ein vielfältiges Angebot an Partnerhochschulen trägt ebenso zu einer höheren Motivation für einen Auslandsaufenthalt bei, da die Studierenden dadurch eine höhere Chance haben ein Auslandssemester am Ort ihrer Wahl zu absolvieren. Die Erfahrungsberichte der Studierenden, oftmals auch in persönlichen Gesprächen, zeigen auf, dass eine hohe Zufriedenheit vorliegt. Dies verdeutlicht auch, dass die eingesetzten Prozesse, gepaart mit der exzellenten Betreuung durch das International Office, zielgerichtet implementiert sind. Aus den Erfahrungsberichten lässt sich ebenso herauslesen, dass sich das Auslandssemester sehr positiv auf die Studierenden ausgewirkt hat: Besonders hervorzuheben sind aus unserer Sicht die Persönlichkeitsentfaltung, Selbständigkeit, Wertschätzung anderer Länder und ihrer Menschen und die Vielfalt der Kulturen Europas. Die Mobilität der Dozierenden und Mitarbeitenden entsprach im Berichtszeitraum den erhofften Zahlen, auch wenn die Zahlen etwas unter dem Vorjahr lagen. Zudem haben im Vergleich zum Vorjahr mehr Dozierende an einer Mobilität teilgenommen, wohingegen die Mitarbeitendenzahl nicht ganz gehalten werden konnte. Es gibt jedoch aktuell positive Tendenzen, so dass sich diese Zahl zukünftig wieder erhöhen müsste. Die Resonanz der Mitarbeitenden auf die Möglichkeiten für Mobilitäten bleibt ungebrochen positiv.Abschließend lässt sich für das Projekt 2018 eine positive Bilanz konstatieren. Eine Verstetigung der Maßnahmen sollte zu einer zukünftigen Steigerung der Mobilitäten führen.

This action supports physical and blended mobility of higher education students and staff from/to third countries not associated to Erasmus+. Students in all study fields and cycles can take part in a study period or traineeship abroad. Higher education teaching and administrative staff can take part in professional development activities abroad, as well as staff from the field of work in order to teach and train students or staff at higher education institutions.

"With regard to its geographic situation in the Upper Rhine Valley with nearby France (notably Strasbourg) and Switzerland, to Hochschule Offenburg - Offenburg University of Applied Sciences ""Europe"" is a close topic. This is shown clearly by its co-operations e.g. with the support of the Interreg-Programme, the University Alliance TriRhenaTec and its longstanding participation in the Erasmus-Programme (KA 103 as well as the participation in a strategic partnership project). The focus of the project at hand was lying - just as in the years before - on the mobility of students (study period), teaching staff and staff.Hochschule Offenburg with its International Office have set their target to increase by and by the number of its students', professors' and staff' mobilities. Taking into account that many of its students are coming from the surrounding region, in which they are deeply enrooted, it is a constant challenge to motivate the students for a stay abroad. At the same time, smaller and middle-sized companies in the region quite expect young graduates to have a good knowledge of foreign languages and intercultural skills.Hochschule Offenburg offers its students substantial possibilities to spend a semester abroad. For many years a network of partner-universities has been created, its focus lying clearly within Europe on the Erasmus-programme. This network is being continuously enlarged, as the demand for more exchange-possibilities at old and new partner-universities has grown in recent times with the introduction of a number of new study-programmes. At the same time, it can be seen that in some study-programmes the number of outgoing-students has decreased due to the low-student numbers there. For this reason, the number of outgoing-mobilities from the university-wide perspective has only slightly grown.However, the International Office's view on this completed project is a positive one. The efforts to support the students with general, big information sessions on the one hand, and individual counselling and mentoring on the other hand have been very fruitful.We feel though, that it is deplorable, when shortly before travelling abroad students cancel their stay for personal reasons.Once our students have realized their semester abroad, in particular from their reports we can clearly see the positive effects it has had on them: From our point of view we would like to emphasize personality development, independence, openness and appreciation of other countries and their people and Europe's cultural diversity. The International Office's counselling and care is explicitly appreciated, the feeling of security given by the coordinator of outgoing-mobility is accepted with thankfulness.Another result of a stay abroad which should not be underestimeated is the competences acquired in foreign languages and the intercultural capabilities, which are seen by future employers in a very positive way.The number of teaching staff mobilities which could be realized during the time of this project were not fully reached; supposedly this can be explained by the lack of time for travelling abroad as several study-programmes were either restructured or set up newly. However, at present we can see tendencies for a positive development, so we are looking quite optimistically into the future. The staff's resonance to the possibility for mobilities stays very positive and the insights and views gained at the partner-universities are perceived as a very satisfying experience.With regard to the incoming-students from partner-universities to Hochschule Offenburg, we can say, that in particular we can note a considerable progress in offering lectures in English language. In the medium run we can see rising numbers of incoming-students, which we see as an stimulus to consolidate and enlarge the offers in English-taught lectures especially on the Bachelor's-level.The overall view on the completed project is therefore a positive one and we hope for a further, positive development in the future."
