    The Latvia University of Agriculture (LLU) has been implementing Erasmus programme since 1999. The Erasmus University Charter (2014 – 2020) was awarded to LLU in 2014 certifying the university’s eligibility for international cooperation. The participation of LLU in Erasmus+ has strengthened the role of LLU among higher education institutions of the European Union. The aim of Erasmus+ is to promote development of internationalisation at LLU. The programme Erasmus+ has enhanced the internationalisation process at LLU by promoting the improvement of the quality of the studies, enriching the knowledge as well as developing the skills of students and academic staff. Internationalisation is considered to be one of the main priorities of the LLU development strategy for the time period of 2014-2020. The focus in the framework of Erasmus + programme is on improving of the quality of studies and living conditions of international students, on the one hand, and promoting the mobility of LLU students and academic staff, on the other hand. The implementation of Erasmus+ programme has motivated many members of academic staff to prepare their study courses in English and full-time study programmes in English that has promoted recruitment of full time foreign students. In addition, 120 bilateral agreements have been signed which serve as the basis for developing of international cooperation with the member states of Erasmus+ programme.LLU has implemented mobility according to the plan: student mobility for studies (SMS), student mobility for placements (SMP), staff mobility for academics (STA), staff mobility for training (STT). The amount of student mobility for studies and placements has increased among students representing LLU priority directions: forestry, veterinary medicine and food technology. It is necessary to increase the mobility among students of engineering sciences. To sum up, the planned outcomes have been achieved.

    The Latvia University of Agriculture (LLU) has been implementing Erasmus programme since 1999. The Erasmus University Charter (2014 – 2020) was awarded to LLU in 2014 certifying the university’s eligibility for international cooperation. The participation of LLU in Erasmus+ has strengthened the role of LLU among higher education institutions of the European Union. During the implementation of Erasmus+ KA107 projects since 2015, the university has contributed to the education development of partner universities of Belorussia and Kazakhstan, since 2016 – Agricultural University of Tirana, Albania as well. The programme Erasmus+ has the leading role in the promotion of the internationalisation process of studies at LLU. Internationalisation is considered to be one of the main priorities of the LLU development strategy for the time period of 2014-2020 by the administration of the university. Consequently, a great deal of attention is being paid to the Erasmus+ programme as well as to cooperation with the EU countries and partner countries. In the programme of the strategic development of AUT establishing of partnerships that improves capacity of studies and research is provided. It focusing that receiving and sending mobility of university students and teachers are important resource for integration of their university in European higher education space ensuring organisational and quality improvement of the study process. There haven’t been cooperation between LLU and Albanian HEIs so far, however during the meeting for representatives of Balkans’ HEIs, held in Vienna 17-18.12.2015 organised by the European Commision, both parties expressed wished to establish cooperation in framework of Erasmus+ programme in the related areas of studies and research: agriculture, rural development and entrepreneurship. All the planned mobility has been successfully implemented: 2 incoming and outgoing teaching mobility (STA) and 2 incoming and outgoing staff training mobility (STT). All activities done in a good quality. All plans and aims fully had been achieved.
