Based on the four main goals of UAS Technikum Wien’s internationalization strategy, which all of the four partner institutions share, the focus for this project period was set on a. developing strategic partnerships that provide sustainable future cooperation with all institutions involved, b. internationalizing all study programs and, as a first measure, to introduce English held courses for all Incoming and Outgoing students at every institution, c. developing an internationalization at home and integrate international students in the daily university life at each of the institutions and d. increasing students and staff mobility in general. Within those four goals, all partners are committed to increase quality as well as focus on measure to reach these goals. The focus topics among each cooperation vary and are outlined briefly: The cooperation with Instituto Technológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA) is based on the common topic of Computer Science. For this project period, the focus was set on software useability and user experience, exchanging inputs on eyetracking devices and laboratories of both institutions. The teaching mobility (Outgoing) under the topic ""Mobile Eye tracking for Usability Evaluation"" was then to be followed-up by an Incoming staff training, during which procedures for conducting usability tests with the equipment at hand were implemented. Incoming staff teaching focused on Semantic Web and Linked Data and also stressed the importance of an exchange in terms of fostering student mobility. Currently, eight Incoming students from Argentina are pursuing a Double Degree at UASTW.Both cooperations with China Three Gorges University (CTGU) and Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) focus on sustainable building and sustainable urban development. Based on the locations involved, Incoming and Outgoing students were encouraged to develop design ideas for Yichang, Ulanbataar and Vienna, concentrating on sustainable building in coordination with local building cultures, application of resource-friendly materials and the use of de-centralized renewable energy resources. For eight students (China-Austria) and two students (Mongolia-Austria), inter-cultural issues were presented and discussed among all participants. Teacher exchange was implemented to help conduct the project ideas developed by the students. Common project ideas between the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution for Higher Professional Education National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) and UAS Technikum Wien encompass the area of Information Systems Management & Big Data. The Double Degree between these two institutions has proven successful, also in terms of student exchange. The activities between HSE and UASTW are the strongest track with 18 students and 15 staff exchanges between both institutions. An additional goal for the current project has been the focus on the implementation of Gender & Diversity Management at HSE, which has not been handeled at the institution before. Staff mobility for teaching, besides the focus on Big Data Systems, was therefore also used for a workshop by the Gender & Diversity coordinator of UASTW to train colleagues at HSE as well as the student body in this regard. In summary, the four objectives that have been set during the project implementation have all been realized to certain degrees: as seen under section 4, all collaborations except the collaboration with ITBA have developed into strategic partnerships (focus a.) with further submissions for future funding as well as common projects in planning (see section 12). English held courses are available at every institution, as can also be seen on the basis of number of recognized credits under section 7.3 (b.). Various measures to introduce an Internationalization at home were taken, among which the planning of three international weeks during the project period, the blending of international with national students (regular English taught courses in degree programs) and Incoming teaching staff in these courses offered (c.), see also section 11. In general, student and staff mobility was clearly raised as is recognizable by the numbers mentioned above and seen in section 7. Due to the scholarships and funding provided with the project at hand, the realization of these goals has been made possible."

This project is a part of the Internationalization Strategy 2017+ of UAS Technikum Wien and comprises activities and measures which are a part of all four strategic fields of action in this strategy: 1. Building strategic partnerships, 2. Internationalization of the study programs, 3. Development of internationalization @ home, 4. Promotion and expansion of mobility. In terms of the content, all the activities within the framework of European mobility and cooperation are based on study-semesters, required internships, double-degree programs, joint research with partner institutions as well as deepening the relationship of the current successful partnerships whith selected staff mobility. With the help of this present project, UAS Technikum Wien was able to enlarge strategic partnerships of maximum compatibility in the areas of teaching and research in all four faculties. The first outcome of the project was to deepen of the strategic partnership with LAPIN AMK as for the first time the Management of UAS Technikum Wien was travelling to Finnland in order to negotiate about diverse fields of common interests and Projects. Secondly UAS Technikum Wien could strenghen the strategic partnership with Midsweden University in order to finalize the Double Degree Agreement in the field of Sports Technology which is a big enrichement for both universities.Thirdly, UAS Technikum Wien could strenghen it´s strategic partnerships and expand teaching mobility projects within the Campus International (Internationalization at home). Whereas the focus in the academic year 2015/16 was on building up strategic partnerships and negotiating objects and measures as well as rising mobility at all levels, the focus current project 2016/17 comprises Internationalization at home as well as increasing the number of Double Degree Programs with Mid-Sweden University and UNIVERSIDADE DE TRAS-OS-MONTES E ALTO DOURO and UNIVERSITA DEGLI STUDI GUGLIELMO MARCONI - TELEMATICA.Finally, as the year 2015/16 was the first year performing the new Internationalization strategy 2017+, UAS Technikum Wien was able to reach all the objectives in terms of rising mobility as well as building up strategic partnerships also within the current project.

Based on this collaboration, the current project saw it as its primary aim to strengthen the ties between the two institutions with regard to the study programs Architecture at MUST and Renewable Energies at FHTW and, especially, to implement and increase teaching mobility through higher financial support. The project specified the following goals:1.The facilitation of comprehensive mutual support regarding teaching mobility in order to enable new, intercultural approaches in the field Construction Design for High Quality and High Comfort Sustainable Building in both countries2.The implementation of teaching mobility in the field Construction Design for High Quality and High Comfort Sustainable Building to increase the exchange of methods and didactic concepts and to improve intercultural competences through the broadening of the topics and foci of projects and case studies3.Further development of staff mobility to improve the intercultural competences of administrative personnel4.The facilitation of exchange for PhD-students5.The implementation of seminars and training workshops at both institutions, such as Doing Business in Austria/Doing Business in Mongolia, to further improve intercultural skills in the business sector6.The comparison and development of areas such as Gender Mainstreaming and Diversity Management7.The facilitation of future Joint Research Projects with the possible involvement of corporations and enterprises During the project’s running time, 6 teaching mobilities were carried out based on the selection criteria specified in the project application. Teachers prepared lessons for select project groups which consisted of students from both institutions based on international internships.Within the frame of staff mobility, especially during our first visit at MUST in April 2016, we agreed on a variety of goals, measures, and activities for the project and further defined its key content areas as well as its potential for improvement and for expansion into other sectors. Our visit emerged as a very intense and comprehensive experience and, and in light of future cooperation, was especially fruitful for the development of mutual trust on an interpersonal level. Our Mongolian colleagues’ return visit in December 2016 further contributed to the profound and enthralling working relationship and became the basis for a newly implemented strategic partnership, which was signed in January 2017. The main aim of this alliance was the implementation of teaching mobility in the respective degree courses and the realization of mutual student mobility in the form of internships and workshops. In addition, based on these mobilities first negotiations regarding a prospective Double Degree Program in this field took place.Throughout the course of these visits, the two institutions discussed the current state of Gender and Diversity Management (GDM) as well as activities related to these areas at their respective schools and exchanged ideas for Good Practices. These talks revealed that MUST and FHTW set quite different priorities regarding GDM: for example, the advancement of women to executive positions does not play a decisive role at MUST seeing as many women have already assumed managerial positions. Contrary to that, FHTW prioritizes Diversity Management. The results and (long-term) effects of the present project can be summarized as follows:The quality of the project—including its activities, mobility processes in both directions, curricular developments, selection procedures for participants, as well as Gender Mainstreaming and Diversity Management—was improved consistently during its running time. What should be especially highlighted here are the project’s efforts in terms of the processes involved in student mobility as well as the curricular adaptation and implementation of teaching mobility. As such, the current program emerged as a flagship project for two main reasons: first, the implementation of student internships, teaching mobility, and student mentoring on both sides was carried out in an excellent and professional manner. Second, the successful collaboration between the two institutions during the course of this project contributed to the improvement of the involved parties’ intercultural competences, an advance manifest in effective communication in all prospective meetings. Comprehensive staff mobility contributed substantially to these developments through on-site discussions about project evaluation and optimization. Thereby, both sides were able to meet a variety of intercultural challenges successfully.

All the Activities within the framework of European mobility and cooperation are based on study-semesters, required internships, multiple-degree programs and joint research with partner institutions. The need to have partners of maximum compatibility in the areas of teaching and research are the basis of successful international relation and the key to quality assurance of the university. Reviewing existing and establishing new partnerships are currently among the main challenges. The objectives are on the one hand to build up a sustainable frame in order to deepen successful partnerships. On the other hand, the implementation of numerous measures in order to rise mobility in all areas at UAS Technikum Wien plays an essential role. Based on the slogan ?Feel, host, think and work on an international level?, the Center for International Relations at UAS Technikum Wien organizes many activities, such as networking-events between the current incoming-students and the potential outgoing-students, road shows for the staff, international incentive events. Beginning with the summer term 2015, the two-weeks-module ?Cross Cultural Competences & Languages? is offered to all incoming students, including 5 ECTS lectures regarding the Austrian culture, languages, scientific writing and intercultural trainings. Regarding the staff mobility, the goal to rise mobility is achieved as the number of the participants in training and teaching is increased to 168% compared to the previous year. The year 2014/15 The year sets a good basis to deepen successful partnerships ? see the internationalization strategy 2017+ of UAS Technikum Wien.
