SuperScienceMe thought. "The earth cries out for help...we can't just stand there, we must do something and we must do it now...all together.." SuperScienceMe – REsearch is your RE-Generation fully embraces the European Green Deal, to reverse the course and to turn climate and environmental challenges into opportunities. In this historical moment, in which all certainties are falling apart dramatically, SuperScienceMe appeals to all generations and, like a modern Noah, units them around an ideal, calls them to build a symbolic ark, in order to convey the message that “Research can help regenerate the planet and save lives” Due to the recent events, the pandemic, the dramatic climate changes, the severe threats to democracy, our world is telling us something. In these difficult times, it is easy for people to feel disoriented and lose faith in science; the deniers, the conspiracy theorists, the insurrectionists, all of them are the result of this slow but continuous and inexorable drift. Once again, SuperScienceMe leverages the power of research and the enthusiasm of researchers, to enter the hearts and heads of people to slow down this wave until it reverses its path, before it's too late. To achieve this goal, building on the success of the past editions of the project, researchers from universities and institutions of two regions of southern Italy, Calabria and Basilicata, will open the doors of their laboratories; they will bring research to the non-specialized audience and will talk to people of any age, in order to show them the extraordinary normality of their superhero lives. Furthermore, in line with MSCA-NIGHT scope, the project, bringing researchers closer to the general public, will encourage the youth to embark on scientific careers also helping the planet. SuperScienceMe must open people's eyes and minds, to make them believe in science again, to defeat the darkness and restore the earth to its original color..the Green

TERRASAFE’s vision will be operationalized in 5 pilot areas that share a high vulnerability to desertification but, simultaneously, represent the 4 main types of desertification (vegetation decline, soil degradation, water scarcity, and depopulation) and strongly contrast in socio–cultural-ecological circumstances. This vision is supported by a transdisciplinary consortium, ranging from universities to SMEs commercially exploiting innovations. TERRASAFE’s vision is implemented through a multi-actor approach covering all WPs, in particular by setting up 5 partnerships in the 5 pilot areas. In a co-creation process, these partnerships will then (i) define their visions on building desertification resilience and plan their ensuing TERRASAFE work; (ii) map and analyze past and ongoing desertification, identifying hotspots; (iii) evaluate and demonstrate innovations at these hotspots, comparing them with current and traditional/organic practices; (iv) elaborate policy recommendation for the wider uptake of the TERRASAFE-certified innovations, both within and beyond the pilot areas, taking into account lessons learnt from past and ongoing policies against desertification; (v) share their TERRASAFE’s experience with the other areas, other desertification-prone communities and the general public. The consortium will support the partnerships by providing not only harmonized frameworks for each activity but also advice on adapting these frameworks to their specific needs. Finally, the SMEs will provide a wide offer of innovations that they will tailor towards the respective desertification hotspots, in close collaboration with the partnerships.

The project aims to endorse the internationalization activities of UNIBAS according to modernization processes of higher education, providing a strong effort to teacher and administrative staff mobility, as well as student mobility, even to strengthen the relations among research, teaching and work. In order to encourage the openness toward Europe and other foreign Countries, the following activities were scheduled and implemented during the project duration:1. increase of number of incoming and outgoing students through specific projects financed or co-financed with local resources or arising from the existing agreements with national and international (EU or extra-EU) institutions as well as promoting new bilateral agreements with other universities and research centres: i.e. the mobility opportunity increases of about 10% both in terms of type of mobility, student and staff, and widening the disciplinary areas;2. start-up of two II cycle international study programs and international Ph.D. courses;3. activation of foreign language courses to support international degree.Globally, the total number of mobility participants grows up of about 20% exceeding the expectations of the project mainly due to the increasing of traineeship activities according to the European Policy Statement of Unibas.

The above interesting statistics indicate that the time to accelerate the transition to a circular economy has come. Circular economy and its actions are the key factors that could prevent such downfalls and even reserve this grim situation. The established economic practices based on a “take‐make‐use‐dispose"" model has degraded the international eco‐system in many respects. The current global pandemic of COVID-19 is a wake-up call to the hazards posed by our disturbing relationship with the natural world. As the years go by, sustainability challenges have increased, demanding a collective action. However, industry and technological innovation alone cannot push to systemic changes needed to achieve a true transformation. According to European Environment Agency, the vast majority of adults have an abstract if not a far-off idea of what circular culture is (European Environment Agency, Circular economy in Europe, 2018). Therefore, one cannot deny that the promotion of circular economy mind-set and practices transnationally can advance individuals’ green skills and competences, build capacity in knowledge and eventually adopt a circular economy thinking which can only benefit society as a whole. Additionally, a transition towards a more circular and resourceful economy can increase job places around 700,000 by 2030 (Impacts of circular economy policies on the labour market, European Commission final report, 2018). This project aims to be a kick-off to introduce adults to a green way of thinking while adopting promoting cooperation amongst stakeholders and individuals – a cooperation for the sustainable development of the circular economy mentality. The thirteenth goal of the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) addresses the urgent action to combat climate change and its impact. Way too often we speak about innovation and circular economy without even stating the pivotal role of competences adults lack in order to proceed to efficient and effective strategies battling the phenomenon of environmental collapse. Through this project, we aim to equip adults with all the necessary tools and skills with an eye towards green fashion and entrepreneurial culture. Undoubtedly, lacks of basic principles around circular economy in conjunction with basic entrepreneurial awareness are two main factors that do not allow adults to expand their ideas and thrive into the green sector. Furthermore, the complication when it comes to networking either in one nation or across Europe around the topic of circular economy has proven that any long-term actions are frozen in time. Living in a financially unstable society, it is hard for adults to move forward to new sectors when there is scarcity of support in terms of education, guidance and new ideas around ground-breaking areas. Consequently, there is an obligation to up-skill and re-skill adults towards an ecological attitude, bridge green experienced stakeholders and individuals with inexperienced ones, and spread the mentality of circular economy across the peoples so as to move towards a sustainable era.<< Objectives >>Paris Agreement, Circular Economy Package (2014) , Resource Efficiency Roadmap, European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, Circular Economy Finance Support Platform, Circular Economy Action Plan · all the above mentioned are actions Europe either is a part of or carries out, yet Europeans are not familiar with most, not to say any of these actions around management waste. The linear economic model societies follow not only depends on threatened resources but also results in a non-biodegradable waste. To these problems though there is an opportunity individuals must grab for a better and safer planet. If businesses and individuals switch to a 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) lifestyle things could significantly ameliorate. Circular economy models aim to redefine growth, build environmental and social benefits while building economic and social capital. Building sustainable communities across Europe can bring the resources and resilience to respond better to the challenges arising from concerns such as climate change, as well as being more likely and able to mobilize to tackle and mitigate environmental problems. According to the DG Environment, the impact of circular economy policies is such that could lead to reduction of the negative effects on the environment caused by human activity and simultaneously offer employment opportunities to adults battling the high numbers of employability in Europe. Investing into adults through the green economy and its practices, the impact to social welfare could reach promising goals. Taking into consideration all the above, the objectives of the I.CE.A project are: -To map the circular economy diversity among partner countries, green activities screening and development of an interactive map of “Circular Economy and potential development”. -To underline the urgent situation the world has come through a documentary that will propose alternative ways towards a green way of life. -To design a mini entrepreneurship workshop for adults that promotes green ideas and boosts public and environmental welfare while creating room for employment opportunities through social entrepreneurship practices. -To expand the concept of circular economy as well as national and European green actions through innovative QR codes & application placed in key point at partner countries’ territories. -To develop a network of green entrepreneurs that will create fertile ground for green ideas to rise and bring together green mentors and future green mentees driving towards an eco-friendly society. Participants will be adults who either do have an interest in entering the circular economy approaches or adults who have little familiarity with the circular economy idea yet wish to enter a new era. Project aims to reinforce initiatives that will shift individuals to adopt a respectful and environmentally friendly attitude.<< Implementation >>Project's consortium will implement numerous activities to ensure the maximum influence of the project. The implementation activities based on project’s results are the following: During the development of R1 it is planned partners to arrange roundtables including representatives of local authorities, entrepreneurs, green stakeholders HE institutions representatives and adults. Additionally, questionnaires to 20 local adults and 20 entrepreneurs both with green attitude and without any eco-friendly mind-set. Additionally, all these information and results will be collected into interactive maps that will be representing the variety and peculiarities in different countries. For the development of R2, the leading organization will share guidelines on video making and will develop an intro and outro video that will suit the overall documentary. Following, all partners will have to develop their own videos under the decided guidelines and topics. Time will be given for translations and adjustments. The documentaries are foreseen to be presented into a “Screening Day Event” in partner countries, preferably on an environmental day so to increase project’s impact. R3, the mini workshop on entrepreneurship will work with the methodology of “European Awareness Scenario Workshop” developed and tested by the European Commission. There will be a training involving entrepreneurs and adults with green interests. After the completion of the workshop, there will be developed a toolkit including all the information, educational activities as well interesting ideas that could be realised in the future. The following result, R4 – Eco QR & application – focuses on familiarizing users with different applications that can bring them closer to green activities. Under this result, there will be a mapping of green initiatives in the partner countries and in continuous the development of the application. The application and QR-codes will be tested through a pilot training course in all partner countries. Finally, R5- Online Mentoring Website- will include the development of the website which will be able to connect green mentors and mentees around the world. Shortly after the development of a first draft of the website, there will be a pilot training on the platform, so both partners and participants to test its effective functionality. Last but not least, 8 multiplier events will take place in all project’s countries In Month 25.<< Results >>The project is foreseen to have five results, each one dynamically establishing a new era towards circular economy activities and providing adults with all the necessary knowledge and support to generate new ideas, develop sustainable action plans and adopt a green way of living. The first result (R1) aims to focus on a state‐of‐the‐art report which will include the general framework on circular economy in partner countries, mapping circular economy organizations/start‐ups and analyse qualitative and quantitative results of stakeholders and beneficiaries connected to circular economy. All the information will be composed and conveyed through an “Interactive Map of Circular Economy”. The second result(R2) ‐ GoGreen documentary aiming at putting under the spotlight the urgency for nations and people to go green, present different sectors that someone could act upon and raise awareness around the importance of shifting into greener habits. The third result (R3) is a Mini-workshop on Green Entrepreneurship which intends to create green savvy young entrepreneurs. The mini entrepreneurship course will be constructed based on the findings and dynamics of the partner countries yet in‐line with European goals and objectives. The fourth result (R4) consisting the core of the I.CE.A project as it is a stepping stone towards spreading the circular economy approach ‐ focuses on the development of QR codes combined with a mobile application that will allow adults to familiarize with circular economy actions and processes both at local and European level. The QR codes will offer a handful update on green activities while the application will be developed in such a way that will allow users to become promoters of the green mind-set and any circular actions in both national, European or even international level. The final result (R5) is the website of the I.CE.A project which will include both results one and two and will be connected to the application (R3). Furthermore, the website will be able to link green mentors and future green mentees or even to create synergies between green mentors addressing the effect and impact of circular economy in the society. Additionally, the project aims to have 8 Multiplier Events – one in each partner country- through which there will be presented the I.CE.A project and its results in both local and European level. These multiplier events are foreseen to work as “food-for-thought” on long-run actions connected to a circular economy that would increase even more the impact of the project and its results. Additionally, these multiplier events will consist of testing of green guidelines as they are foreseen to be implemented causing the least environmental waste possible. The events will be carried out using recycled materials, outdoor facilities, reusable energy sources, and any kind of green means."
