InclusiveSpaces introduces co-design accessibility concepts, engaging people with disabilities and older people to improve inclusiveness, social cohesion and climate change mitigation and adaptation. It develops socially innovative solutions that foster universal design principles, empower diverse target-groups, and promote climate-friendly practices. Five essential planning and design tools will be developed to enhance accessibility and comfort: 1) a travel demand data collection and evaluation of accessibility tool, 2) a comfort-based accessibility mapping tool, 3) an accessibility routing tool tailored to visually impaired and mobility-impaired individuals, 4) a first-of-its-kind digitized tool for conducting accessibility audits in buildings and public spaces, and 5) a Universal Design Manual for the Built Environment, including Mobility Hubs. In addition, InclusiveSpaces develops advanced assistive technologies: 1) a Mobility Kiosk of shared electric wheelchairs powered by solar panels and providing shared mobility options to people with disabilities, 2) a device offering enhanced accessibility to beaches and waterfronts, 3) an Upright Tricycle providing inclusive personal mobility to people with reduced mobility, 4) and 5) Indoor and Outdoor Assistive Technologies enhancing the accessibility and mobility of people with disabilities. The InclusiveSpaces planning and design tools and the climate-friendly assistive technologies will be demonstrated, assessed, and evaluated in real-world demonstrations in 6 European cities and countries, including Athens-Penteli, Geneva, Madrid, Larnaka, Hamburg and Budapest. Project findings will be translated into actionable policies and recommendations. inclusiveSpaces is a project, and an initiative to standardize and digitize design frameworks towards a transition to an inclusive and climate-friendly built environment.

This is achieved through the introduction of a ground breaking Technical Enabler based on two concepts: • the traveler is placed at the heart of innovative solutions, accessing all multimodal travel services (shopping, ticketing, and tracking) through its travel-companion. • An open published framework is providing full interoperability whilst limiting impacts on existing systems, without prerequisites for centralized standardization. This Technical Enabler will be completely settled in the context of the SHIFT²RAIL IP4, and IT²RAIL is proposing a reduced approach to the scale of a specified use case without weakening any of the key concepts of IP4, such as the usage of Semantic Web technologies, meta planning on distributed data, travel companion with a protected and secured personal wallet stored in the cloud and including the rights to travel. The use case will be defined as a specific instantiation of our open concepts, and will benefit from a completely scalable architecture fully instantiated in IP4. This approach is addressing all the key challenges of the work program, supporting a complete door-to- door intermodal travel offer and proposing a seamless integration of the very diverse existing and future services for planning, one-stop-shop ticketing, and real-time re-accommodation. Moreover, thanks to an Interoperability framework which insulates travel applications from the standards fragmentation in multimodal transport, IT²RAIL liberates business-model innovations in the market-place, guaranteeing the economic self-sustainability of these e-services in the long-term.

AURORA primary focuses on emergency-related applications, such as medical emergency services and/or critical mobility infrastructure-related services, where urban air mobility can extend and complement current mobility systems. We believe that applications, where urban air mobility brings added value on top of the existing solutions, have a clear value proposition for the end-user and represent a fruitful path for early urban air mobility services acceptance. However, to get there technological, regulatory, economic, environmental and social challenges still need to be addressed and related gaps bridged. AURORA focuses on bridging these gaps and facilitating the integration of urban air mobility in a safe, secure, quiet and green manner. In more depth, AURORA research and innovation activities aim at implementing the enablers of intelligent urban air mobility for multitude of safety-critical applications in the urban environment. One of the key enablers of the urban air mobility is an intelligent and autonomous self-piloted or UAV capable of autonomous trajectory generation while detecting and avoiding obstacles (both aerial and ground objects) in normal and abnormal conditions. AURORA will focus on the development of intelligent and fail-safe guidance-navigation-control features of unmanned aerial system and augmented manned platform operating in urban environment. This includes, among others, an autonomous and continuous selection of emergency landing sites and automated landing in case of fatal malfunctioning of the unmanned aerial vehicle itself. The use-cases include decision making support to emergency services and insertion and extraction of life support items or victims/first responders at location of incident.

UPPER will put the Public Transport at the centre of the mobility ecosystem and will implement a combination of 84 push and pull measures, acting on the 5 innovation axes that condition user’s choices: mindset and culture, urban mobility planning, mobility services ecosystem, road network management and democratic governance. These measures will act in 4 different timescales (from shorter to longer-term): communication, operations, infrastructure and urban fabric. The UPPER measures will be supported by the UPPER Toolkit (U-TWIN, U-SIM, U-NEED, U-GOV, U-KNOW, U-TRANSFER and U-SUMP), 7 IT tools combining social and technological innovation that will be demonstrated within the measures in the 5+5 UPPER living labs and twinning sites, with the overall target of increasing the use of public transport by >30% and the user satisfaction by >25%, leaving nobody behind in the process. This integrated and holistic approach will ease the cooperation among authorities and operators, offer a physical and digital environment to test the measures, update the existing SUMPs, optimise the PT offer in line with user needs and patterns, involve the users in the overall mobility decision chain, trigger the behavioural change in favour of Public Transport and achieve an attractive, efficient, reliable, safe, inclusive and affordable Public Transport system in line with the concept of Mobility as a Right (MaaR)
