International experiences acquired through education, internships, projects favor creativity and a multicultural approach, thereby facilitating their ability to adapt quickly ( professional collaborations, international projects, expatriation). The ERASMUS+ 2014-2016 contract integrates this development strategy which particularly builds on structured partnerships and on accompanying companies in their European and international development. This strategy was supported in Europe thanks to the Erasmus+ program thereby enabling exchange of students in both non-degree exchange programs and degree programs (39 mobility grants were awarded for 43 on offer initially), internships in industry (39 mobility grants were used out of 55), as well as the mobility of personnel (3 teaching mobility grants, 1 administrative training) Mobility generally takes place in the final year of studies (one- semester exchanges, one-year exchanges, double degrees, internships in industry). The male/female ratio is largely in favor of males but this reflects the male-female ratio in the school.Staff mobility is a key factor in the internationalization of an institution, as it gives an international perspective and cultural awareness, thereby allowing staff to better understand and integrate cultural aspects in their daily work - which is essential in the expansion of internationalization in order to accompany students in their professional projects which include international mobility. The commitments of the ERASMUS+ Charter have given a framework over and above pedagogical objectives, particularly language skills, cultural development and open-mindedness, which previously were neglected as difficult to evaluate. We have obtained positive results (quantitatively and qualitatively) for both student mobility (academic semesters abroad and internships) and staff mobility (whether it be administrative or academic staff) – with a better understanding of different academic systems and the reinforcement of pedagogical and research activities). The demand for staff mobility exceeded our expectations, with many more mobility requests than we were able to fund. (16 requests for 4 grants). This was mainly due to the sharing of experience and word of mouth after the mobility as well as growing awareness of the reality of the global higher education market in which we operate.

It is within this framework that, over the last 10 years, Arts et Métiers has accompanied Engineering Schools in Tunisia, such as the Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Bizerte (ENIB) and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs de Tunis (ENSIT) in setting up engineering programmes based on the Arts et Métiers model while adapting it to the socio economic and development needs of the specific country. That is how Arts et Métiers contributed to the creation of the Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Bizerte (ENIB). The help in developing educational programmes started in 2009, with the interest from French aeronautics and space industry (Zodiac, Valeo, Safran, Aerolia) in Tunisia who were to become close partners of ENIB. The aerospace industry, a close partner of the ENIB, expects growth of its activities in Tunisia by around 24% annually. Therefore, there is a growing need for engineers who are highly qualified and open to the international market, particularly to the French culture. This project is funded by the “Agence Française de Développement » (French Development Agency) and the French Embassy and it has funded mobility grants for students in the double engineering degree. The double degree programme in Mechanical Engineering with the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs de Tunis (ENSIT) has been implemented in 2013 and, since then, we have been exchanging students and staff mobility. ENSAM's reputation is a gurantee of the quality of training for future managers and researchers who, in the course of their professional activities, will strengthen economic links between EU and non-EU countries in the Mediterranean area. The Erasmus + funding allowed us to strengthen our partnership with these institutions with an increase in the number of students who follow a double degree in engineering from ENIB/ENSIT and master/Engineering from Arts et Métiers. The objective of positioning the students on the themes of excellence of Arts et Métiers in symbiosis with the most important research thematics was reached. In this context, 21 students from the ENIB and 15 from the ENSIT benefit from Erasmus+ grants to follow the double degree programmes in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering. Depending on the programme, these students spend one or two years at Arts et Métiers instead of their last year at ENIB/ENSIT. This will validate their double degree (ENIB/ENSIT Engineering degree and Master/Engineering degree from Arts et Métiers).Another objective was to deepen our partnership with the two Tunisian institutions by reinforcing the support in pedagogical engineering by welcoming the teaching and research staff in France to follow training courses on the pedagogical methodologies put in place at Arts and Métiers: tutorials, practical work in our laboratories. It is in this context that 5 teaching & research staff from ENIB and ENSIT were welcomed by research & teaching teams in the different Arts et Métiers campuses and 3 teachers from Arts et Métiers went abroad. The aim of sending teachers from Arts et Métiers to teach at ENIB or ENSIT is to train Tunisian students in our thematic fields of excellence and to forge links between these teachers and their counterparts with whom they work closely for the preparation of the modules. Our aim has been to bring together the researchers of the Arts & Métiers with those of ENIB/ENSIT to support them on different research themes, which ultimately contributes to the creation of research laboratories. The results of the project remain very positive. The feedback from students and teachers is very good. Teacher researchers now have a better appreciation of the research areas and are in the process of identifying common projects for the future. Students having participated have all successfully completed the double degree program. The impact of the project on industrialists, French and Tunisian, is also rather positive.

The European and International strategy is rooted in the institutional project and involves an internationalization of all the school’s activities, from education, research and innovation through to partnerships with companies. International mobility is mandatory to obtain our Engineering Degree. One of our main objectives is to enhance students’ mobility as a success tool. Thus, in the last 2 years the number of our outgoing students in Europe has continuously increased. For the current contract we count 149 students, 136 of whom with financial support from Erasmus EU funds (compared to 108 students in the previous contract). Among the 149 students 97 went abroad for studies and 52 for internships. This reflects the growing mobility needs for the future. Generally students go abroad during their final year of studies for one or two semester exchanges, double degrees or internships. The grants awarded in the 2016-2018 contract, 3 teaching mobilities and 2 training mobilities, enabled us to support also personnel mobility. The commitments of the ERASMUS+ Charter have given a framework over and above pedagogical objectives, particularly language skills, cultural development and open-mindedness.We have obtained positive results for both student mobility (academic semesters abroad and internships) and staff mobility (whether administrative or academic staff), with a better understanding of different academic systems, the reinforcement of pedagogical and research activities, the development or improvement of soft skills such as responsibility, initiative, adaptability, team spirit... Their mobility abroad also reinforced their sense of belonging to the European Community. Moreover, the academic recognition of studies and internships accomplished abroad as well as the self-enrichment by the way of intercultural exchanges boost the employability of the participants. In all, applications for mobility outnumbered the grants awarded. This is due to post-mobility testimonies as well as growing awareness of the reality of the global higher education market in which we operate.
