assignment_turned_in ProjectPartners:FHWN, FHWNFHWN,FHWNFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2017-1-AT01-KA103-034663Funder Contribution: 173,422 EUR"Participating in the Erasmus+ programme is anchored within the internationalization strategy of our institution, the main focus is set on the support of student (exchange semester and traineeships abroad) and staff mobilities (teaching and training) - the project involves both. Although we do have exchange agreements with approximately 95 partner universities worldwide, 60 percent of all semesters abroad were realized with the Erasmus+ programme. All study programmes within the Faculties of Business and Engineering offer a mobility window for an exchange semester (Bachelor 3rd semester, Master 4th semester). In addition, Bachelor students have the possibility to do the mandatory traineeship within the 6th semester abroad and all students can apply for a voluntary and/or graduate Erasmus+ traineeship. That applies to the students of the other faculties (Health, Sports) too. Our objectives within this project were to at least maintain the number of mobile students and to increase our staff mobilities. In detail:68 students did an Erasmus+ mobility for studies (47 Bachelor, 21 Master) and nearly half of them are students of our English taught Business programme. The participants reported the following benefits: see the value of different cultures, to be more able to adapt to and act in new situations. In the future the focus will be set on motivating the cohorts of our German taught Bachelor and Master programmes.38 students did an Erasmus+ mobility for traineeship (31 Bachelor, 7 Master/ 25 mandatory, 10 voluntary, 3 graduates). Most of the traineeships took place in the field of Business, but we also had traineeships within Engineering (especially Aerospace) and Health. Nearly all traineeships abroad were carried out with the financial help of the Erasmus+ programme. Students appreciated that they enhanced their problem-solving skills as well as cooperative working in teams.18 staff members participated in an Erasmus+ staff mobility (9 teaching, 9 training). Teachers highlighted the extension of their professional network by building new contacts as well as an increase of their job satisfaction. The most important improvement for our staff members who did a training abroad was the learning of good practices. To sum it up, we were able to increase the number of staff mobilities by 50 percent and the number of exchange semesters by 25 percent. The overall aim of the project was to increase the quality of education by enhancing intercultural, language and personal competencies of students and staff, but not only for mobile participants but also for all students within the university (internationalization at home). The International Office organised several projects and events in order to highlight the Erasmus+ programme and the importance of experiences abroad in general (e.g. International Fair, Incomings meet Outgoings Event, OLS for refugees in cooperation with the city of Wiener Neustadt) and provided information through different sources (Intranet - exchange reports of former outgoings, live contacts during events and our monthly International Newsletter). Working close together with all departments within our institution, our partner universities and the city of Wiener Neustadt is definitely the key for a positive development of internationalization. We succeeded in maintaining the effective and smooth cooperation with our Erasmus+ partners which led to a well balanced student and staff exchange situation. New inter-institutional agreements were initiated, especially for our Faculty of Health in order to force internationalization with this faculty. In total we maintain 58 bilateral Erasmus+ agreements. These agreements are active, well-functioning agreements that have led to a lively exchange between the institutions.According to our credo ""perspectives through applied learning"" we would like to emphasize traineeships abroad for our students as well as the internationalization of our staff with staff mobilities in the future. Furthermore we would like to strengthen the benefits of inviting guest lecturers from our partner universities via the Erasmus+ programme - not only for our students - but also for the internationalization with the departments - sharing knowledge with colleagues from abroad and working on deepening the cooperations, e.g. by common projects."

The project involves student and staff mobility. Student mobility is done on Bachelor and Master level within the faculties of Business and Engineering. Nearly all study programmes within these faculties offer the possibility of a mobility window. Whereas the objective for the exchange semester was to maintain the number of participants, the objective for traineeships was to increase this number. Additionally our aim was to increase staff mobility as well. Participants: 54 students did an Erasmus mobility for studies (40 Bachelor, 14 Master), 45 students did an Erasmus mobility for traineeship and 6 staff member particpated in a mobility (3 teaching, 3 training). The aim was to increase the quality of education by enhancing intercultural and language competencies of students and staff.
