This project will support the modernisation and internationalisation of Mongolian higher education by developing a post-graduate diploma for mental health nursing . Pedagogic skills of lecturing staff will be enhanced by training. The course is expected to improve outcomes for mental health service users by improving clinical skills, help reduce the stigma of mental illness by media coverage and increase applications to work in mental health services. This project will build on an existing relationship developed between UK and Mongolian universities and clinical staff since 2012. Mongolia has one of the lowest levels of medical and nursing staff in mental health care in the world. There is no formal training in mental health for nurses, and a lack of community service provision. Clinical staff have limited access to information on advancements in research or clinical practice, as resources are not available in Mongolian. The project consortium from Finland, the Netherlands and the UK propose to address this. They have partnered with the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS) and two Mongolian private universities to develop a training program based on combined best practice from the 4 countries, tailored to the meet the needs of Mongolians. The project will collate educational curricula, materials, guidance and standards for review by the project partners and carry out a training needs analysis for Mongolian nurses. The curriculum content will be developed and piloted over 18 months with a cohort of 12 students. A series of observational and training visits to clinical and educational settings across Europe will take place for both students and lecturers over a 20 month period. Achieving an international consensus on core components of mental health nurse training will be a novel output from this project. Open access to the project materials and course content will enable easy adoption in other countries with similar need.

This proposal aims to build capacity in HEIs of the partner countries (of DigiHealth-Asia project) to develop graduate certificate and diploma in digital health that would begin a new transformation in the operation of Asian Healthcare systems. The main objective of this project is to harness the power of ICT in health care through the introduction of the digital health care specialised course that would train and assist the healthcare professional in remote monitoring patients. A part of this project involves research and development of a new autonomous framework for pervasive monitoring of medical vital signs of patients using multiple types of affordable sensors connected through a secure and efficient network. The system would integrate a combination of ICT technologies including machine learning algorithm based on multi-view metric learning to learn to the relative importance of different types of sensors dependent on the location of the user, networking and user-friendly application development for collection and analysis of the collected medical data. The partner HEIs will play a crucial role in the knowledge transfer, training Healthcare staff to use the developed technology. This project aims at designing and implementing the framework, as well as demonstrating the feasibility of an autonomous in-home monitoring system at partner health-care facilities through pilot use cases. The main objectives are:- To build capacity in partner HEIs with an aim to develop expertise that would modernize healthcare systems by using digital technologies for health care in assisted living- To develop an education and training programs aiming to enhance skills of healthcare practitioners in use of digital and ICT based patient monitoring and assistive technologies.- To create a sustainable network of healthcare practitioners, researchers, academic teaching staff, researchers and industry professionals, focusing on the development of digital technologies for health care

In the last two decades, and particularly since the onset of the global financial crisis, providing innovation-oriented knowledge has become a priority at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to address the widespread challenges of high unemployment towards smart and inclusive growth. At the global level, Asia is undergoing rapid changes and integrating into fast-evolving networks but growth is severely uneven, with extremely diverse trajectories in societal and economic development. The socio-economic landscape of the PCs targeted by Hub4Growth (Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal and Mongolia) shows countries with an urgent need for action at university level to increase innovation related capabilities and link more effectively knowledge produced with market opportunities, therefore promoting socio-economic integration in the coming years.Within this framework, Hub4Growth aims at boosting target PC HEIs’ capacities for entrepreneurship opportunities and structures towards economic development and employability. The project, in line with regional and institutional priorities of the participating PC HEIs, will promote good practices for setting business interfaces in universities, enhance human resources’ capacities, provide for coherent information and communication strategies amongst the universities and within the local business environment. It will also give necessary strategic input for the creation of long-term partnerships and collaborative innovation-related initiatives with enterprises.

The ARROW Project (Improvement of Research and Innovation Skills in Mongolian Universities), aimed to contribute to the promotion and strengthening of scientific writing skills and results visibility in Mongolian Universities. The project Consortium is composed by four European institutions and twelve Mongolian Universities.Through an extensive training program, ARROW provided a wide group of researchers, belonging to Mongolian Partner HEIs, with a set of theoretical and practical content aimed at improving research, publication and intellectual property skills. As a result of this program, beneficiaries acquired not only technical skills related to using a scientific database, selection of the most appropriate journal where to publish or International regulations for patent registration; but they also received training and advices on soft skills necessary for successful publication of research results. In this sense, through several courses, workshops and personalized mentoring, ARROW beneficiaries acquired the right skills for an appropriate communication with referees of quality journals, as well as for a problem solving mentality at time of publication and for the establishment of a productive relationships with partners and colleagues. Such effort continues, beyond the end of the project, through the fruitful collaboration, initiated thanks to ARROW, between European and Mongolian academics and researchers.
