The 2015-2016 academic year has provided us with yet another year of unique mobility opportunities for students and staff. Our goal is to increase threefold the number of mobility students, and the Erasmus+ programme is the most important tool to achieve this goal. We see a substantial rise in student mobility for studies, while still a low number of students choose to do placements. This is partly due to little placement opportunities integrated in the programme, and still too little interest in placements for recent graduates. Information for students has been evaluated and new improvements to web pages and advice services have been added. The UiS also wants our staff to go on mobility periods to increase internationalization at home and and develop new courses. Europe is at the core of our internationalization strategy, we highly encourage Erasmus+ funding to be used for student and staff mobilities. The objective of the project was mainly to increase the number of outgoing students and teachers. The activities are undertaken in accordance with the Erasmus Charter regulations and integrated into the mobility system organized by the International office. Departments and academic coordinators are invaluvable facilitators for the implementation of mobility activities. During the project period, an Erasmus Student network local chapter in Stavanger was set up, greatly assisting in the promotion of Erasmus+ opportunities for individuals and creating a social sphere around Erasmus+. Over time, we expect that our project and the cooperative measures with students and staff responsible for mobility validation and promotion will create a robust international learning environment on campus and develop the knowledge and skills needed for graduates in a modern work force.

This action supports physical and blended mobility of higher education students and staff from/to third countries not associated to Erasmus+. Students in all study fields and cycles can take part in a study period or traineeship abroad. Higher education teaching and administrative staff can take part in professional development activities abroad, as well as staff from the field of work in order to teach and train students or staff at higher education institutions.

The University of Stavanger implemented a strategy in 2013, where the benchmark for outgoing mobility is 30% of the student body admitted to degree programmes. The UiS also focuses strongly on staff mobility for the improvement of internationalization at home and facilitating new agreements and international modules. As Europe is at the core of our internationalization strategy, we highly encourage Erasmus+ funding to be used for student and staff mobilities. The objective of the project is therefore to create opportunities for learning and teaching for UiS students and staff and increase the number of outgoing learners and teachers in 2014-2015. We have achieved an increase in student mobility for studies, but not yet in placement mobilities. We are establishing initiatives for creating exchange programmes with our ECIU partners through a Twin programmes initiative.
