To help create a supportive environment and enhance capacities of children at risk of poverty, this project builds new and deepens the existing competences of students and professionals that work with children and enables their better professional growth, increases their employability, and provides expertise needed on the labour market. This objective is achieved through summer school and e-training. Both activities are intended for social work students and professionals as well as students and professionals who traditionally do not have content on children living in poverty and EU support mechanisms within their regular curriculum (early childhood education, primary teaching, social pedagogy, pedagogy). Two e-trainings will be delivered to students and professionals from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo. A publication will be produced as an online available resource for all those willing to make their practices more sensitive for children at risk of poverty and in line with EU guidelines. The summer school will be delivered for Croatian students from diverse professions that work with children. As part of the summer school, five community interventions within geographically diverse areas will be delivered. Through its research component, the project takes on the emerging field of implementation science to help determine the factors and strategies that influence the uptake and use of social mentoring in routine practice settings. The research will contribute to accountability of the social welfare system and the sustainability of social mentoring as well as generate insights that can support EU policymaking when supporting families living in poverty."

Within its strategic objectives, UNIOS is focused on active participation in European and international cooperation projects, among which the Erasmus+ programme is is considered as the most important tool for realization of international cooperation. Given the possibility to apply for the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility projects, UNIOS has recognized the potentials of such cooperation to strengthen its partnerships worldwide. By participating in the Erasmus+ ICM, UNIOS has been promoting itself as an open academic community that offers high quality research and teaching. UNIOS participation in the Erasmus+ programme by realizing individual mobilities of staff and students within the project 2016-1-HR01-KA107-021828 supports UNIOS future development in terms of international cooperation strengthening. Apart of UNIOS as the project beneficiary, this project involved 10 partner institutions from 5 countries with the objective to support exchange of 31 members of (non)teaching staff and 7 students. Staff involved in this project were mostly teachers that improved their teaching skills or performed research in their field of interest. Students participating in this project that realized incoming and outgoing mobility were usually master level students studying law or food technology and within their exchange programme they gained sufficient ECTS to obtain recognition at their home universities. Realization of these individual mobilities represents for UNIOS and for partner institutions a significant achievement in building of strong and sustainable partnership relations for future projects. This Erasmus+ project provided a framework for continuing cooperation in the exchange of staff and students, thus providing benefits not only for individual participants, but also for all involved universities and for broader social community.
