CONTEXT/BACKGROUNDMalmö University continues to put internationalization at the front. Our Vice-Chancellor together with the Council for Internationalisation and Global Engagement continues to facilitate for the university to lift internationalisation issues to the agenda. During this period the International Office has continued to mobilise expertise, now also on how we are able to work with internationalisation in doctoral education when it comes to international mobility of doctoral students and service and support to international doctoral students. One person has also been assigned separate responsibility for quality and assessment. In 2018 Malmö University received university status in Sweden, the long-term goal since the inauguration ofthe university. This has meant that we e.g. have been able to join new and additional networks in Sweden to discuss internationalisation. We are at the same time celebrating our 20th anniversary and internationalisation is continued to be lifted on all fronts amongst other with the national strategy forinternationalisation of higher education that is currently under revision in Sweden.OBJECTIVESThe project's main, overall objectives correspond to the key goals in Malmö University's Erasmus Policy Statement and are also founded on the ECHE.- To enable all students and staff to take part in mobility or gain other forms of international experience. The Erasmus+ programme is offered and promoted to all students and staff. For students, an international experience, such as a semester abroad, is to be a natural part of their education, integrated in their syllabus.- To provide internationalisation at home to all students and staff. Students who remain immobile for some reasons, should always be able to take part in an internationalised educational setting, and/or other events.- To increase knowledge and understanding of other countries, cultures, religions and values.- To create change agents. Malmö University attracts students who want to make a change in the world and we aim to produce students who go out in society to influence and take part actively. We tell them: don't study to become something, study to be someone (who makes a difference).PARTICIPANTS – NUMBER AND TYPE/PROFILEThe numbers and types of mobilities in this project corresponds with the numbers in the application. RESULTS AND IMPACTWe note high overall satisfaction among all categories of participants. Having successful mobility in all categories, student and staff, is an important factor for the implementation of the program. The added value/extra bonus of this project was the STT mobility from our career services units. We conclude that we on an overall level meet our objectives in a satisfactory way.

CONTEXT/BACKGROUNDMalmö University continues to put internationalization at the front. During the project period, a new Vice-Chancellor has come to MAU. She promptly installed a new position for a Pro Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for Global Engagement. One of the first missions for the Pro Vice-Chancellor was to establish a Council for Internationalization and Global Engagement. The council will, since it seats the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and several other staff from the Rector's Office, facilitate for the university to lift internationalisation issues to the agenda. Another important change during this period is the formation of a new, expanded International Office at MAU. The International Office has mobilized expertise on not only exchange mobility, but also about the handling and support of ALL incoming international students as well as housing.OBJECTIVESThe project's main, overall objectives correspond to the key goals in Malmö University's Erasmus Policy Statement and are also founded on the ECHE.- To enable all students and staff to take part in mobility or gain other forms of international experience. For students, an international experience, such as a semester abroad, is to be a natural part of their education, integrated in their syllabus.- To provide internationalization at home to all students and staff. Students who remain immobile for some reasons, should always be able to take part in an internationalized educational setting, and/or other events. - To increase knowledge and understanding of other countries, cultures, religions and values. - To create change agents. Malmö University aims to produce students who go out in society to influence and take part actively. We tell them: don't study to become something, study to be SOMEONE (who makes a difference).PARTICIPANTS - NUMBER AND TYPE/PROFILENumbersWe managed to award grants to more individuals than planned for in the GA: 120 participants (114 planned). The surplus is on student mobility. Staff mobility had lower figures and remains on the same level as previous project (24 this project vs 25 in previous). We need to review how we work with teacher mobility in order to raise the numbers for STA.Profile - equal treatment and non-discriminationMalmö University has a diverse student population and a rather large proportion of our outgoing students are international students. We work actively in promoting international mobility to all students, and one way is to ensure that all information is communicated in both English and Swedish. Figures from our Student Health Service show that MAU receives increasing numbers of students with different forms of disabilities. As a part of the study abroad process, students (both out- and inbound) state if they wish disability support, and if so, they get assistance from our Disability Service. In spite of the increasing numbers of reported disability in general, we have not had any students applying for extra funding during this project. We have received students with need of disability support, but have not had any outgoing students who have applied for extra disability funding.DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIESThe bulk of activities are SMS. The SMS students apply and get nominated twice a year. For practical reasons, we prefer to have all SMS students for a specific semester funded within the same project. Thus, in this project, we decided to transfer funds and finance both spring and fall 2016 + some of the students whose study period lasted until spring 2017. The SMP students apply all year round, as soon as they have a confirmed placement. This means that we can work more freely with the funding, working with several projects at the same time.RESULTS AND IMPACTWe note high overall satisfaction among all categories of participants. Outgoing SMP students report the highest level of satisfaction. We also note an increased satisfaction in areas such as incoming students' experience of housing support. Moreover, almost all (93%) of incoming students are satisfied with the mentoring and administrative support at Malmö University. We conclude that we on an overall level meet our objectives in a satisfactory way: - All students and staff have been offered to take part in mobility or other forms of international activities. We have worked, and continue to work, to influence decision makers to open up syllabus for mobility windows. Our incoming students and staff contribute to Internationalization at home.- We see from the participant's reports that the international experience has affected their knowledge and understanding of other countries, cultures, and values. - We see from our alumni contacts how previous exchange students, many of them international students, are active in various organisations and innovative companies, in Malmö and internationally, to generate change. We believe that we have contributed to a number of SOMEONEs already.

CHILDCIPH proposes a two-year fellowship at the School of Arts and Communication (K3) at Malmö University, Sweden. The recent rise of illiberal, conservative and right-wing populist movements poses an acute threat to democracy and equality in Europe. One pervasive but underresearched strand of these movements advocates ‘traditional family values’, in particular conservative sexual and gender politics, in the name of protecting children. The project will fill this research gap through interdisciplinary research examining the discursive construction of the child as the ultimate site of vulnerability and risk, and hence in need of protection and policy intervention. The irrational, or affective component of such discourses calls for an approach capable of accounting for their emotive force or ‘grip’. This proposal aims to develop such an approach, combining insights and methodology from political discourse theory, media studies and psychosocial studies. The research is characterised by a significant comparative dimension, analysing discourses by conservative, ‘pro-traditional family values’ actors, from politicians to activists, in Germany and Russia. The project will generate 3 articles and will be presented at international conferences, through blog posts, public events, as well as policy recommendations. The host institution will benefit from an interdisciplinary project that operationalizes the role of emotions and affect in media research – an aim central to the work of the Rethinking Democracy research platform, while it will benefit my career trajectory by establishing me as an independent researcher with a unique and thorough expertise on the role of emotions and affect in analyzing processes of negative political mobilization, in particular in issues threatening gender equality and LGBT rights.

CONTEXT/BACKGROUNDMalmö University continues to put internationalization at the front. Our Vice-Chancellor together with the Council for Internationalization and Global Engagement works to facilitate for the university to lift internationalization issues to the agenda. The International Office keeps on mobilizing expertise, now especially when it comes to internationalization and international mobility in doctoral education and service and support to international doctoral students. We have joined new and additional networks in Sweden to discuss internationalization. We have celebrated our 20th anniversary and internationalization is continued to be lifted on all fronts amongst other with the national strategy for internationalization of higher education in Sweden. Following our university status we are to expect more doctoral students starting at Malmö University and we have increased our focus on internationalization and mobility of the third cycle.OBJECTIVESThe project's main, overall objectives correspond to the key goals in Malmö University's Erasmus Policy Statement and are also founded on the ECHE.- To enable all students and staff to take part in mobility or gain other forms of international experience. The Erasmus+ programme is offered and promoted to all students and staff. For students, an international experience, such as a semester abroad, is to be a natural part of their education, integrated in their syllabus.- To provide internationalization at home to all students and staff. Students who remain immobile for some reasons should always be able to take part in an internationalized educational setting, and/or other events.- To increase knowledge and understanding of other countries, cultures, religions and values.- To create change agents.Malmö University attracts students who want to make a change in the world and we aim to educate students who go out in society to influence and take part actively. We tell them: don't study to become something, study to be someone (who makes a difference).PARTICIPANTS – NUMBER AND TYPE/PROFILENumbersWe have exceeded the approved budget when it comes to SMS by registering SMS students from three semesters on this call. Funds to SMS were allocated from the other categories i.e. SMP, STT and STA. In this way we have almost used the total approved budget. Due to a change in scholarship levels regarding one group from our National Agency starting autumn 2017 we made the decision to close call 2016 and to fund all SMS and SMP, where the scholarship level was increased, on this call. Our National Agency encouraged us to finalise the call as much as possible and we therefor also placed all SMS students for autumn 2018 on this call, even though the scholarship levels had been increased again starting autumn 2018.ProfileRegarding gender, we continue to have a high rate of outgoing students that are female; 74%. This is a slightly higher percentage than what can be explained with the university as a whole, where two thirds of the student body is female. 1/3 of our outgoing students are international students. We have had a good gender balance in our outgoing staff, but here also a higher rate of outgoing female staff with 53%.DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIESThe bulk of activities are SMS. The SMS students apply and are nominated twice a year. For practical and administrative reasons, we prefer to have all SMS students for a specific semester funded within the same project. The scholarship levels were increased by our National Agency and they also encouraged us to finalise the call as much as possible. We therefore have more SMS students than the approved budget on this call. For SMP, STT and STA we keep the application open all year round, as soon as the students or staff have a confirmed placement or place of exchange. This means that we can work more freely with the funding, working with several projects at the same time. If scholarship levels are increased it is easier to reallocate the participants in-between calls.RESULTS AND IMPACTWe note high overall satisfaction among all categories of participants, 100% for outgoing SMP, STT and STA. On an overall level we meet our objectives in a satisfactory way; all students and staff have been offered to take part in mobility or other forms of international activities. A big part of our students do not apply for exchange studies and this is an issue that we are working on, as well as finding other opportunities and offers for our students. We continue our work to influence decision makers to open up syllabi for mobility windows. If a mobility window is not possible then we offer possibilities for non-credit traineeships. Our incoming students and staff contribute to internationalization at home.
