The participation in the Erasmus Program has continued in compliance with the guidelines of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2014-2020. The main goals have been the increase in the number of students and teaching/staff mobility, not only quantitatively but also qualitatively. These objectives are still framed by a broader logic, based on the three goals set by the Academic Senate in November 2015 and which are the following: improve the quality of the University's course catalogue; increase the personal development and academic education of the students; increase the level of university internationalization, meant as a process of strengthening the relevance of the Tuscia University on the international academic market.Numerous initiatives have been launched to promote the mobility of students, teachers and staff. New inter-institutional agreements have been signed, the facilities for foreign students have been improved, and outgoing students have been able to count on a stronger administrative support. The development of a culture aimed at enhancing and streamlining Erasmus mobility by removing obstacles and by consolidating some administrative practices, in the several degree programs and departments, with the aim to foster incoming and outgoing mobility, has proved to be fundamental. The main actors in this process are the leading bodies of the University, the Erasmus + Commission, the departmental secretarial and, obviously, the Mobility and International Cooperation Office. The achieved results are judged as positive, on the whole. The students mobility at the University of La Tuscia is a consolidated phenomenon, well-integrated in the degree program offered by the various departments, supported by the constant increase in international agreements; if on one side the comparison with foreign experiences contributes to the improvement of the quality of course catalogue, on the other side it proves to be crucial to support the internationalization of the University. The development of shared curriculum and the building up of joint programmes aimed to give rise to Dual Degrees, ground on the students mobility. However, it is obvious that all this work has to be strengthened, and further activities to be undertaken are: the enhancement of the services offered to the incoming students and, meanwhile, the implementation of policies destined to enrich the considerable potential attractions of the Viterbo area.

Its paramount targets were the student and staff mobility, and a wider participation in international cooperation projects, thus in compliance with the guidelines of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2014-2020. Nevertheless these objectives were driven by three more general aims: improving the University course catalogue quality; enhancing personal and educational enrichment for students enrolled in the University’s (degree programs); triggering the University’s internationalization policy, as a process of strengthening the importance of the University of Tuscia, not only on the international academic market but also in the regional context of the European Higher Education Area.Several initiatives were put into action in order to promote student and staff mobility, and increase the participation in international cooperation projects. The services for incoming students have been strengthened, outgoing students can count on a consistent administrative support, the information about the Erasmus program have been improved, the mobility culture as personal enhancement has been promoted in the University degree programs. All the University's governing bodies have been involved in this process, together with the administrative services – pivoted by the Mobility and International Cooperation Office - and the departments. The achieved results are overall evaluated in a very positive way. The University student mobility is a of a well-established phenomenon, well-integrated into the curriculum of the various degree programs, supported by the increase in international agreements. By the comparing with foreign experience it contributes to improve the quality of education. It encourages the building of a genuine European culture in the student and professor community at the University of Tuscia, promoting the understanding of the unity and pluralism dynamics within the European education area and the integration process. It supports the University internationalization, enhancing the building up of education path of joined programs with foreign universities, promoting international research and forcing to accompany graduates into a wider job market than the national one.If outcomes are positively evaluated, however, it is necessary to further improve the mobility of outgoing students and reverse the decrease in the number of incoming students. From this point of view, the project highlighted the corrections to be made. Three lines of action have been identified and will be developed in the academic year 2015-2016: a stronger expansion of services offered to incoming students; the exploitation of the geographical potentiality of Viterbo location, from where important destinations such as Rome, Florence and Siena can be easily reached; the capacity of the degree programs to attract Erasmus incoming students will be strengthened and Italian students outbound mobility will be promoted.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.euassignment_turned_in ProjectPartners:UNITUSUNITUSFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2015-1-IT02-KA103-013278Funder Contribution: 265,958 EURAs in the previous years, the implementation of the Erasmus+ programme has been a key aspect of the overall policy of the University of La Tuscia. In line with the approach developed in the previous years, the implementation of Erasmus+ has been carried out in compliance with the guidelines of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2014-2020. Its immediate goals have therefore been those of student mobility, staff mobility and participation in international cooperation projects. These objectives, though, have been on their turn functional to three more general aims, which represent the core of the current policy of the University: improving the quality of the teaching programmes offered by the University; enhancing the personal and educational enrichment of students enrolled in the University’s degree programs; sustaining the University’s internationalization policy, here meant as a process of reinforcement of the position of the University not only in the international academic market but also in the regional context of the European Higher Education Area.Several initiatives have been taken in order to promote student and staff mobility, and increase the participation in international cooperation projects. Several new agreements with universities located in States participating to the Erasmus+ Programme have been signed. Moreover, the administrative and academic services for incoming and outgoing students have been further strengthened. All the undergraduate programmes have been asked to make all the appropriate adjustments to develop a culture of European mobility and to establish a set of practices actually capable of supporting incoming and outgoing mobility. As in the previous years, all the governing bodies of the University have been involved in this process, together with the administrative services – pivoted by the Mobility and International Cooperation Office -, the Erasmus+ Committee and the departments. Our overall assessment of the achieved results is positive. Outgoing student mobility is a well-established phenomenon, well-integrated into the curriculum of the various degree programs, supported by the increase in international agreements. By allowing students and academic and administrative staff to experience and understand the peculiar dynamic of unity and pluralism which is at the heart of European integration process, incoming and outgoing mobility contributes to establish a genuinely European culture in the community of students, teachers and administrative staff at the University of La Tuscia. It also supports the University internationalization, in so far as it creates a favourable context to enhance the launch of joined programs with foreign universities, to carry out international research and to facilitate students’ access to the international job market. If outcomes are to be positively evaluated, however, it is necessary to keep on working on the implementation of Erasmus+. In particular, it is necessary to further improve the quality of services offered to incoming students; to fully exploit the potentialities of the location of Viterbo, from where important destinations such as Rome, Florence and Siena can be easily reached; to strengthen the capacity of the various degree programs to attract Erasmus incoming students and to promote outgoing mobility of Italian students.
