The University of Hohenheim (UHOH) is a middle-sized, highly specialized university with unique profile in the areas Agricultural and Natural Sciences as well as Economics, Business and Social Sciences. UHOH has more than 9500 students, of which 15% are international. 12 bachelor, 27 master and 3 PhD programs are offered by the three Faculties. Of these programs, 12 Master programs are completely English-taught. With its interdisciplinary research, UHOH contributes to the solution of pressing matters of the society in the 21st century, explicit in its focus on Bioeconomy and the respective Hohenheim Research Center for Bioeconomy. Additionally the Hohenheim Research Center for Global Food Security and Ecosystems and the Hohenheim Research Center for Health Sciences contribute to the goals of the university, which are defined in the new strategy ‘Bioeconomy and digital transformation’ (2018-2022), continuing the successful approach from its previous strategy ‘Bioeconomy 2020. Modelling and understanding complex systems’ (2013-2017). The university's unique features are that UHOH is a profile university, a campus university and cultivates the Humboldtian idea of the unity of teaching and research in an extended, modern form in a special way. This strategy and the unique features attract international students as well as international partners. The increase of international contacts follows the concept of concentrating on selected strategic partners, with a focus on qualitative cooperation in research and exchange. The exchange of students and staff within Erasmus+ is a vital part of this strategy and is clearly promoted and supported by the whole university. This led to the development that the number of UHOH students going abroad has risen by 25% in the last years accompanied by an increase of incoming exchange students. Within this Erasmus+ KA103 project 190 students participated successfully in an exchange and have been funded by an Erasmus+ mobility grant for their academic stay at the host institution. This is a rise of 14 students compared to the last project. The destinations with the most mobilities have been Italy, Austria, Denmark and Sweden with more than 15 outgoings per country. With an average recognition of 25 credits for a six months mobility, the students have been highly successful at their host institution. In the area of staff mobility, 9 mobility activities could be realized and funded. The majority of staff completed a training mobility and successfully increased the competence in their working areas. With the highest number of participants since the beginning of the program generation and an increase in mobility of almost 10% compared to the previous year's project, the project was very successful from a quantitative point of view. The project was also successful from a qualitative point of view, as shown by the satisfaction of all participants with their international mobility. Over 90% of students, inbound and outbound, and 100% of all staff were very or rather satisfied with their stay and reported an improvement in their academic, cultural, and social competencies.

University of Hohenheim (UHOH) is a middle-sized, specialized university with a significant interdisciplinary profile in Agrarian, Natural, Social and Economic Sciences. More than 9700 students are currently enrolled, of which 14% are international students. Three faculties offer 11 Bachelor and 25 Master programs, as well as three doctoral programs. 12 Master programs are completely taught in English. Starting with the Structure and Development Plan “Bioeconomy 2020. Understanding and Designing Complex Systems” in 2013 University of Hohenheim implemented a strategy to sharpen its unique profile. By means of the interdisciplinary research at UHOH, urgent questions of the 21st century can be addressed and solutions developed. Especially in the comprehensive field Bioeconomy UHOH is aspiring towards becoming the leading competence center worldwide. Following the expertise of UHOH, gained through coordinating several Tempus and Erasmus Mundus projects with Eastern Europe and Central Asia in the areas of agricultural and nutritional sciences, with a focus on sustainable rural development, this Erasmus+ project was applied for and conducted to sustain the outcomes of recent projects, continue exchange and develop relations with new partner institutions in the university's core areas. Within this project 32 mobilities were realized of the granted 32. 21 students participated in an exchange mobility, who all received an Erasmus+ grant. While 6 students from UHOH spent a semester in Ukraine or the Russian Federation, 15 Ukrainian and Russian students spent one or two semester at UHOH. Incoming students took part in courses, mainly at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Science, but several participants were also taking courses at the Faculties of Agricultural and Natural Science.Eleven staff members used the possibility in this project to do a training mobility, in one instance inlcuing some teaching hours. While nine staff members from the partner universities completed a training mobility at UHOH, two staff members went to the Russian Federation for a training.More student mobilities have been realized than planned. Due to organizational reasons, more incoming mobility to UHOH was supported and funds for outgoing transferred to incoming. The qualitative aspects of the project were successfully realized. Participating studens and staff were highly satisfied with their overall mobility experience and not only reported an academic development, but also a personal growth resp. a strengthening of their network and international experience. The contact with new partners included in this project was successfully established. Due to an extensive exchange of teaching methods, research approaches/interests and trainings in project management, as well as the successful mobility of students, future cooperation is planned and a new Erasmus+ application for the continuation of the activities was approved.
