The KA107 2016 project of Politecnico di Torino (PoliTO) implemented 148 mobilities with 11 Partner Countries, as stated in the Grant Agreement: Argentina, Australia, China, Israel, Lebanon, Malaysia, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Uzbekistan, Vietnam. These are the data: 72 incoming students and 44 incoming staff from Partner Countries, 12 outgoing students and 20 outgoing staff from PoliTO. These mobilities have supported the growth and valorization of the human capital, intended as students, administrative and teaching staff population, as highlighted by participants’ reports that show an excellent level of satisfaction about the experience. The project fully contributed to achieve the goals of the internationalization strategy of PoliTO and of the other partner institutions: the project is an essential tool for the internationalization process of Universities. The international mobility of students, administrative and teaching staff is considered by PoliTO and by partner Universities as one of the most effective tools supporting the society innovation policy and the improvement of the quality of the university system, as clearly stated in the project proposal. For PoliTO, this objective is expressed in the ERASMUS+ Policy Statement (EPS) (https://www.polito.it/international/erasmus_policy_statement.pdf).Compared to the previous 2015 edition, this project included two new countries, Argentina and Russia, and the number of mobilities is significantly superior, from 99 to 148: 116 from Partner Countries to Italy and 32 from Italy to Partner Countries; 84 students and 64 staff. This increase occurred at all levels, with a growth of participation of students and administrative staff for Training and with the introduction of mobility of staff for teaching activities.Compared to the 2015 edition, staff mobilities have doubled, consistently with the objective set in the proposal: of supporting the internationalization policies of administrative and teaching staff.Unlike the 2015 edition – which was the pilot project on mobilities with Partner Countries and it wasfocused on mobilities only, it– the 2016 edition was enriched with dissemination actions and structured training activities. In September 2017, PoliTO organized a presentation meeting on the Erasmus+ program, addressed to the University staff; Dr. Giordana Bruno from EACEA attended the event too. This was a great opportunity to promote the Erasmus+ Program, sharing the KA107 results and promoting the possibility for staff to apply to training and teaching activities in Partner Countries.. In May 2018, PoliTO organized the International Staff Training Week “Internationalization and Research: how to measure and improve the impact of projects”, with 20 foreign participants from 20 Universities of 14 countries: Argentina, China, Colombia, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Russia, Serbia, USA, Uzbekistan, Netherlands, Poland. The management of the mobility actions improved during the project implementation.. This positive trend comes from a continuity of the relations with partners, as most of them were already included in the 2015 project. This continuity led to a gradual refinement of the modus operandi. PoliTO introduced a management document, the Scholarship Budget, periodically sent to partners, which helps them to keep track of the available scholarships.;PoliTO, in 2018, also implemented an on-line nomination system, appreciated by partner institutions, which makes the nomination process faster and more user friendly.Considering the impact of KA107 2016 at PoliTO, incoming and outgoing mobility actions have helped to enrich the multicultural and multidisciplinary community and environment of the University, enlarging the boundaries: the virtuous circle sparked by this can lead to the attraction of talented students and researchers. The feedback of partner institutions shows a positive impact on participants, institutions, and local context. As indicated by most of the institutions, the KA107 project with PoliTO contributed to give a better international visibility and it supported new relationships with foreign universities.

The Erasmus+ Project is an integral part of the international strategy pursued by the Politecnico of Torino (PoliTO) aimed at encouraging the mobility of students (both incoming and outgoing), professors and administrative staff as an essential tool to promote innovation in society and increase the Higher Instruction System quality.During the A.y. 2016/17 PoliTO, in parallel to the strengthening of the relations with Central and South America and to the implementation of institutional partnerships with the most high-reputed on an international level Universities in the USA, in Canada, in Japan and Russia, launched actions targeted at supporting and enhancing student mobility through administrative and financial instruments. The main actions which were developed during the A. y. 2016/17 are:- increase of the amount of the grants supporting student mobility, starting from students moving towards extra-EU countries in the A. y. 2017/18;- balance of destinations between Winter and Summer Call (respectively for mobility in the 1st semester or 2nd semester) according to the Academic Calendars in force at the different partner Universities;- review of the selection procedures in the frame of Erasmus+/PROGRAMME COUNTRIES mobility also using a new computer-based system aimed to improve the process efficiency and efficacy; this new model will be used starting from the A.y. 2017/18.PoliTO has furthermore included the International Mobility among the opportunities dedicated to the most excellent students, enrolled in Engineering Bachelor Courses and involved in the Young Talents Project. Such an initiative represents for PoliTO a novelty among the existing mobility programs addressed to Engineering students, for whom is usually allowed to spend a study period abroad only during the Msc. This initiative required a significant effort for selecting adequate academic partners offering courses that can match PoliTO students’ careers. Thanks to this program, 60 new mobility agreements have been activated. The student mobility as a whole involves 2000 students, 1000 incoming and 1000 outgoing, 650 of which, supported by an Erasmus+ grant. Due to these high numbers, PoliTO is quoted as one of the most involved and active Italian University with regard to International Exchange Programs. This testify the continuous commitment of Polito in encouraging Students’ Mobility.Regarding professors and staff mobility, after a first experimental year in which a specific call was launched, in 2016/2017a new call was settled. This call has been renewed in terms of rules and selection requirements with a particular focus on the evaluation system of the applications; in fact, in the first edition selection was mainly was only based on the assessment of the mobility didactic programs quality and on the didactic level of applicant professors, whilst now a reward mechanism on behalf of professors who actively support Internationalization of PoliTO has been added. Moreover, a great improvement on application documents has been introduced in order to make the selection process simpler and clearer. These actions aimed at a further engagement of PoliTO staff into the process of internationalization, by ensuring high standards on teaching offer of partner Universities.Concerning the incoming mobility of professors and administrative staff, PoliTO has maintained the selection procedures, which are based on an accurate quality analysis of didactic offers and giving priority to the training projects, which are complementary to the internal didactic offer. Professors Exchange Programs have led to the definition of new agreements - even for the student mobility - or the strengthening of pre-existing ones. The orientation and mentoring service has been improved still further by the accurate and widespread information about outgoing and incoming mobility opportunities, thanks to a growing involvement in promotional Fairs and events, to the organization of conference calls, to the continuous support given to the Internationalization Department staff and to the Academic Professors of the different Courses and, finally, to the whole reorganization of the Internationalization section of Politecnico website.
