Asian Family Businesses (FB) are the backbone of the Asian economy, however the specific characteristics of family businesses which can affect their longevity and their competitiveness remain unexplored. More efforts should be directed towards studying the contribution of family businesses to establish the proper institutional frameworks to support their longevity. In this context the project aims to create a new Master’s programme in the specialized academic area of FB Management in total 16 HEIs of Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, that is as much absent from HEI programmes in the Partner Countries (PC) involved as it is needed. The FAB curriculum will incorporate novel entrepreneurial theories, business models and innovative management tools fostering new family entrepreneurs, but also promoting entrepreneurial behaviour (including innovation) in existing family firms.Beyond coursework, the program will be structured around:- industry placement, in family businesses;- ‘FB Centers of Excellence’ in PC HEIs that will act as foci for research and innovation in the area;- country-specific VET online courses (MOOCs), introducing PC HEIs in the MOOC era;- digital learning, to allow modern forms of learning, as well as to enable contribution from experts across the globe in the development of the program;- promote cooperation, exchange of know-how and good practices in the subject area between EU and PC HEIs;-establish viable synergies and links with family businesses in order to address their needs in specialized personnel and enhance the employability of FAB graduates;-contribute to local economic growth, by providing to program participants the right knowledge/skills/tools to turn the local family-business sector into a driver of social and economic growth;-promote dialogue between the academic sector, family businesses and policy/decision makers in PC and help convey the concerns faced by FB into policy consultation processes.

The aim of RecoASIA project is to improve competencies and skills of credential evaluators of Partner countries by defining common practices and tools among European and Asian HE systems (at national and institutional level), starting from the needs expressed and sharing the experience of European HEIs in relation with the Lisbon Recognition Convention, Bologna Process and practices adopted by NARIC centres. Recognition procedures and practices do not only consist in technical issues but also in the structure of each HE system and its cultural approach. Recognition considers all the aspects of a HE system (QA; accreditation/recognition of institutions; etc.); in fact, to evaluate a foreign qualification, the knowledge of different elements and the consideration of the purpose of this evaluation procedure (academic or professional recognition) are needed. The partnership intends to develop national information centres and to provide their staff with training on recognition procedures, also taking into account the role of the Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education of Tokyo entered into force in 2018 and to establish a dialogue with the Lisbon Recognition Convention. We will draft National Reports of each partner country involved in the project in order to present their HE systems with the aim of enhancing the internationalisation of participating Partner countries. We will treat controversial recognition cases and sectors as TNE and international institutions, distant learning and non-traditional degrees, studying verification sources and the blockchain technology as a tool to fight credentials fraud. A work package will be dedicated to the methodologies for the evaluation of refugee qualifications and the possible implementation in the Asian context. To maximase the dissemination of the project's results two final conferences will be organised.

"The main goal of the ENGAGE project is to promote and support students’ engagement within the Higher Education System (HES) in three Partner Countries located in Southeast Asia: Cambodia (KH), Lao PDR (LA), and Myanmar (MM). The project idea originates from the observation of the existing gaps in the HES of these countries for what concerns: the inclusion of students in designing and creating class activities; the possibility to express their own ‘voice’ within the governance institutions of the university and to organize extra-curricular activities through student associations; the engagement with the broader context of the social community at large. ENGAGE builds on and expands the previous experiences of the CHINLONE and TOOLKIT projects (see paragraph D.3) including part of the ENGAGE consortium. Specifically, the ENGAGE project intends to address the problem of student engagement from three different perspectives, using three distinct platforms which constitutes the main levels of action for the students: classroom, campus and community. CLASSROOM ENGAGEMENT aims at addressing the problem of students' inclusion within the process of designing and managing of learning and teaching activities, transforming them from ‘passive subjects’ to ‘active agents’ of the ""Learning and Teaching"" (L&T) process. CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT aims at addressing the problem of student participation in the governance and decision-making process of the universities. The problem of student engagement in the university institutions and organizations has emerged as a crucial point in the preliminary need analysis for the three Partner Countries. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT aims at addressing the problem of transforming the student engagement and participation on-campus into practices of community development and active citizenship in the social environment at large."
