Open Access Mandate for Publications and Research data assignment_turned_in Project2017 - 2020Partners:Università Iuav di Venezia, Università Iuav di VeneziaUniversità Iuav di Venezia,Università Iuav di VeneziaFunder: European Commission Project Code: 707726Overall Budget: 193,355 EURFunder Contribution: 193,355 EURTraditional state-driven top-down revitalisation strategies have resulted in new urban dynamics and tensions, gentrification processes and social exclusion. In the meantime, ethnic concentration in neighbourhoods overlaps with situations of social exclusion and deprivation. The aim of the project is to investigate whether and how area-based programs inspired by an innovative social approach targeting deprived and hyperdiverse neighbourhoods can intervene on increasing socio-spatial inequalities, at the same time promoting institutional learning. Institutional learning is in fact considered as a pre-condition to assure the publicness and sustainability of bottom-up initiatives. The project stands on the assumption that promoting social cohesion in hyperdiverse cities urgently demands a new approach to territorial development. The GF will provide me with new competencies to be transferred in Italy and Europe where the development of coherent contextual strategies for urban revitalization is of utmost importance. The GF envisages: i) an outgoing period to Canada, University of Toronto, where I will be involved in a major research partnership over six Canadian metropolitan areas (NCPR) ii) a return period in Italy at IUAV, based at the SSIIM UNESCO Chair to transfer the skills acquired, develop an additional training to establish a sustainable career iii) a secondment being based at TU Delft, Netherlands, being involved in the ERC Project DEPRIVEDHOODS to develop specific hands-on training activities and strengthen the collaboration among hosting institutions. If funded IUAV will provide me with a full-time research contract to invest in my career development. My profile deeply based on migration studies, policy design and analysis, urban planning and human rights will be reinforced with new inter disciplinary expertise and strengthen skills on community development, urban regeneration, social innovation, segregation studies and neighbourhood research.

Università Iuav di Venezia has always strengthened its international academic activities to improve the quality of higher education by aiming at the circulation of knowledge, aware of the social role of university education. By declaring its membership in the EHEA and using EU principles and tools, Iuav has committed itself to the international characterization of its educational programs and has consolidated international networks with European universities which have enriched its curricula through the exchange of students, teachers, administrative technicians. In this way, relations with public and private foreign institutions have been promoted for the inclusion of their students and graduates in society and world of workers. There were 189 students in mobility for study (the 1st and 2nd cycle); 105 trainees including 43 newly graduates and 3 phds; 10 professors with different seniority and 8 administrative technicians from different Iuav facilities: international relations, communication, library, accountancy, lifelong education. Participants working in different areas demonstrate that Iuav invests in mobility training opportunities for all members of its community. For the organization of mobility, agreements and letters of intent were signed with the partners after that the Delegate, the Tutors, the International Relationship Service carefully analyzed the partners' educational offer in order to be compatible with that of Iuav. Our University has a network of European partners from more than 150 public and private institutions. The IUAV IRO prepared and published selections for students, trainees including new graduates and phds, teachers and technical administrative staff. The mobility selection for students considered the academic merit and language knowledge, the selection for trainees included even a motivational letter and / or interview, while staff candidates were evaluated on the basis of educational and training programs submitted to the host institutions. The calls supported the participation of disabled and economically disadvantaged people. After the results of the selections, IRO had the winners received from the host Universities and payed the grants upon their arrival abroad. At the same time, incoming nominations were received and we provided them with the information useful for their mobility at Iuav. There were 2 welcome days set up with the help of buddies and the presence of non-EU students from other mobility programs for a real integration in Iuav environment and in an exciting and challenging city such as Venice. Students had a didactic tutor before, during and after mobility. The students/trainees with the help of the tutors elaborated learning agreements or learning agreements for traineeship which were approved by host organizations before the arrival: these agreements included adequate learning choices pursuing learning outcomes coherent with those expected in the course of study the students/trainees belonged. It has always been assured that the credits acquired according to the LA / LAT approved were recognized, transferred to meet the curriculum requirements for the title. Acquired credits were transferred to outgoing students' career, according to LA / LAT and change approved and certified by the Transcript of Records or Transcripts of Work. Free ToR were handed to incomings. By obtaining the degree titles, students will have their mobility experiences certified in the Diploma Supplement. Teachers, technicians, administratives signed an agreement before the departure: as for professors theprogramme concerned the contents of the teaching abroad, as for the latter it was about the best practices to be learned in the host institution. Knowledge and transversal skills acquired by participants during mobility and through exchange and comparison with European universities are mainly the results and the impact of the project. Indeed, Iuav participants have experienced a different, innovative and complementary educational/ training offer so that they are ready to work in the job market that currently has both local and global features. The presence of Iuav within a network of European public and private institutions is an enrichment of training opportunities for its regional, national and international stakeholders. Iuav will receive long-term benefits as a result of the implementation of this project from which a constant innovation / updating process results in its direct interaction with the different European educational and training systems

Since the early 2000s, artists’ periodicals have become sprawling and live structures, engendering new business models and expansive modalities, collaborations and networks. These periodicals, produced by artists as part of their own language and work, offer a rich opportunity to analyse the expanded field of art publishing and to think critically about contemporary art’s fluid, accelerated and networked expressions. Deep art historical questions concerning art’s autonomy, the meaning of public, collectivity, communication and knowledge in current artistic and publishing practices will be explored through a cross-disciplinary, case study and practice-enhanced approach that will offer the theoretical vocabulary and practical tools to comprehend the fluidity and expansiveness that this project aims to investigate. Curating an artists’ periodical exhibition, conceiving and hosting a 4-episode podcast on art publishing and organising an international workshop on expanded publishing, will not only complement the research’s findings, but outline new directions in this growing field of study. By focusing on 3 global artists’ periodicals—e-flux, Chimurenga and White Fungus—the research contributes to the wider goal of giving voice to marginal stories, situated outside of the North-Western axis. Studying and communicating these histories and contributions to the developments of 21st century art is an important step towards changing public perceptions, encouraging inclusivity and correcting inequalities in the way art is interpreted. The GF will be carried out at the San Francisco State University, Università Iuav di Venezia and at the Triennale di Milano to develop my skills and competencies and allow me to become a leading scholar in contemporary art history and publishing.
