When it comes to internationalisation at The University of Pannonia, our main aim was to use our 2016 budget as effectively as possible. The University accepted its international strategy as part of the Institutional Development Plan, upon which the Erasmus+ programme (KA103) is also based. As for the respective academic disciplines, our Institution proudly maintains an intricate network of European as well as overseas partners (e.g., economic actors and scientific organisations) with whom it closely cooperates. Such affiliations provide a solid base for developing student / professor / staff mobility. In the academic year of 2016/2017, The University of Pannonia had bilateral agreements with almost 170 partner institutions in 31 European countries. Our University has been an active participant of the Erasmus+ project since 1998, i.e., for twenty years. Our Institution has long been a favourable destination among students and professors wishing to participate in European higher-education mobility. This is due to the fact that The University of Pannonia keeps showing up on the international stage: it is ranked in international league tables, and is also present at international fairs targeting foreign institutions as well as students from various locations.Besides international rankings, it is one of our top priorities to further promote mobility which – besides the various benefits that outgoing students will enjoy – is inevitably required for this project to remain successful. Drawing on the Institutions recognition and distinguished positions held, we set out to reinforce our mobility activity. We carried on improving our image with the help of adequate communication and information strategies in order to enhance the international visibility of our mobility programmes. In the 2016 project year, we received guest students / lecturers / staff from all across Europe within Erasmus+ project (KA103). We also have two outstanding and exemplary connections with two top universities in Rovaniemi, Finland, from where we accept students and professors almost every year. Thus, not only can we improve our affiliation to these two institutions but we may also reinforce the ever-growing partnership between Veszprém and its Lapp twin town. With regard to student numbers, The University of Pannonia is ranked in the middle of the Hungarian university table, but it is a key-player in the Transdanubian region’s higher-education strategy. The Erasmus+ project is chiefly targeted at our students, most of whom come from the University’s agglomeration and therefore, seem to be reluctant to think out of their ‘comfort zone’. In order to increase willingness to participate in mobility, as compared to previous years, we improved our communication and promotional (marketing) practices for a more active and direct dissemination of information. We allocated a certain amount of money to the promotion of Erasmus+ and we also paid special attention to reaching our pre-set mobility target. With these new promotional techniques, we managed to limit the significant drop in actual SMS (study mobility) numbers. In the meantime, the SMS project budget was rearranged and in part transferred to the SMP (internship / practicum) fund. Internships abroad always enjoy great popularity and thus, we can plan ahead with them.It is noteworthy to mention that our institution has extended the duration of the project 2016-1-HU01-KA103-022798 from 16 months to 24 in order to expend the budget efficiently.Due to the remaining funds we announced a supplementary invite call for applications of professors and our staff and we proceeded with the use of organizational budget for mobility. (e.g., student events, financing staff missions, remuneration of mentors)Informative lectures were adjusted to the deadline of student mobility applications therefore students could have been provided by information in time. Unlike earlier practices, when these lectures were held only at our campus in Veszprém, as it has the highest number of students, we visited our smaller campuses as well to promote Erasmus+ and Campus Mundi Scholarships with the help of students who were once granted by these scholarships. Members of the Tempus Public Foundation attended our informative events, which we considered crucial, as more students were drawn to these lectures where they were provided by the latest first-hand information. Besides these informative events, we visited several timetable lectures and delivered various 10-15 minutes long presentations on the most essential information. In the autumn of 2016, the Faculty of Economics organised their annual International Week, where we worked together with the group of incoming Erasmus students and students of our university to familiarize the attendants with each other’s culture. Our work was supported by the mentors coordinated by the Office of International Student Relations of the university’s Student Union.

When it comes to internationalisation at the University of Pannonia, our main aim was to use our 2017 budget as effective as possible. The University accepted its international strategy as part of the Institutional Development Plan, upon which the Erasmus + programme is also based. As for the respective academic disciplines, our Institution proudly maintains an intricate network of European as well as overseas partners (e.g. economic actors and scientific organisations) with whom it closely cooperates. Such affiliations provide a solid base for developing student/ professor/ staff mobility. In the academic year of 2017/2018 we had Erasmus bilateral agreements with more then 190 partners in 31 European countries. Our University has been an active and successful participant of the Erasmus+ project since 1998, for more then twenty years. Our Institution has long been a favourable destination among students an professors wishing to participate in European higher-education mobility. This is due to the fact that the University of Pannonia keeps showing up on the international stage: it is ranked in international league tables, and is also present at international fairs targeting foreign institutions as well as students form various locations.Besides being present at international higher- education fairs, it is one of our top priorities to further promote mobility among our professors, our staff and students which is inevitably required for this project to remain successful. Drawing on the International recognition and distinguished postpositions held we set out to reinforce our mobility activity. We carried on improving our image with the help of adequate communication and information strategies in order to enhanced the international visibility of our mobility programmes. During the promotion activities we built on the previous experiences and insights of our outgoing students and on the intercultural lectures that meant to promote the Erasmus + programmes among our students. In the 2017 project year, we received guest students, lecturers and university staff form all across Europe. We maintain a very fruitful relationship with a town Rovaniemi, Finland and it's universities and in Germany: Konstanz.Due to the growing numbers in professorial and staff mobilities we have established several new Erasmus+ institutional partnerships like our very first with Norway and Malta, or our expanding partnerships within the United Kingdom and Poland. During this mobility period besides our compliance with the adequate student's mobility numbers our aim was to promote professorial and staff mobilities as well. With this we aim to increase the students' mobility in the near future, as the good relationship on all levels and the shared knowledge will result in the internationalisations of the curriculums and the creation of the mobility window. With regards to student numbers, the University of Pannonia is ranked in the middle of the Hungarian university table, but it is a key-player in the Transdanubian region's higher education strategy. In the project year in question our main aim was to induce the appetite for mobility and to bring more students into the the Erasmus + programme. The targeted students most of whom come from the Veszprém's agglomerations from surrounding villages, seem to be reluctant to stretch their comfort zone, and are difficult to mobilize. With our ongoing promotional activities the students gained insight into the possibilities found in the Erasmus+ programmes. Even though the actual student mobility (SMS) numbers were different to the indicative target numbers, in general - supported by the students interest - we can say that the Erasmus+ programme enjoys great popularity to such and extent that the self funded students also find the European mobility appealing. Ever since the programme is running this is the first time that our international students applied for Erasmus programmes, showing that they are interested. The foreign students seem to be more spirited then the Hungarians so in the future we are aiming to involve them into our promotional activities. The indicative financial resources for traineeship have been successfully utilised almost to the limit ensured by the new possibility for the degree programme as these students applied for a longer mobility period. We have established an online search engine for traineeship to aid the smooth application process. In 2017/2018 our Institution has extended the duration of the Erasmus+ project from 16 months to 24 and we announced a supplementary invite call for application for professors and our staff in order to expend the budget efficiently also to bring forth the knowledge transfer between partner institutions.

Within the mobility period, we have organized and carried out student, staff and administrative personnel mobility. We have recalibrated the content of the curricula by negotiating it with the partner institutions, thus students could be sent and accepted in the refreshed educational programs. Information dissemnation has been increased in the form of forums at university and faculty level, we have also provided assistance for outgoing and incoming students with disabilities.

The Jean Monnet Chair in European Solidarity and Social Cohesion will expand and deepen the teaching of European Union studies at the Institute for Social and European Studies (ISES). The addition of an annal 2-semester, well defined course on “The Future of Europe in a Global Context: Polity, Policy, and Governance,” is designed using a new approach to an introduction to the field for new European Union studies students, as well as for interested students from other disciplines, regional specializations or countries of origin. The course connects the European project more fully to global processes, and at the same time looks in more depth at the European specificities. It concentrates on the contemporary period, especially after the outbreak of the interdependent crises from the early 2000s. Since many of the students come from East and Central Europe, the Baltics, the Balkans, Turkey, but also increasingly from Asia and Africa, the new courses and activities need to accommodate a diverse variety of academic backgrounds and interests. The activities try to deepen knowledge about underlying and fundamental European values that need to be promoted more than ever today. The course and seminars employ updated methodologies that include new forms of information transmission and therefore the inclusion of press and blogs in reading lists. More interactive teaching methods are also designed to enhance innovation in teaching. The proposed Chairholder will conduct, monitor and supervise the research on EU subjects. This is clearly developed in the research design as the backbone of course and seminar materials and the thematic structure of activities. This is clearly demonstrated in the research outline and in the European and Global Governance Laboratory. As the Director of the programme, she will also oversee the graduate course work of all students in the programme since she this is one of her main responsibilities in oversight of the programme as a whole and has been for over 10 years; that means monitoring student’s progress throughout the length of the entire programme. She will also advise those students writing theses on topics related to her specializations as she has done in the past. Throughout all the activities planned in this project, the Chairholder will encourage, advise and mentor the young generation of teachers and researchers in European Union studies subject areas who may not have had easy access or opportunity to take such courses before.Teaching the course, Europe in a Global Context each semester (7), supplemented by a monthly seminar series The Future on Europe with international speakers. Providing the seminar on Democracy, Solidarity and the European Crisis to International Studies students annually. Providing the seminar Economic Inequality and Social Unrest: Consequences for Social Cohesion in Europe annually and during the summer universities. Developing new curricula, increasing European content to the international program. Recruiting and advising MA students. Organizing workshops, summer and winter schools and lecture series with European Studies content. Promoting EU studies-related research, e.g, The Politics of Solidarity and Contentiousness in Europe, Migration and Refugees; Memory and Populist Politics; Conflict Resolution; The Future of Europe. Promoting young researchers and their involvement in the teaching program and supporting their publications.
