Of course, we recognise that we did not receive funding for all the applications presented, although we understand that this is mostly due to budgetary limitations. In this call, the UdG applied for funds only for the countries it had received funding for in the previous call (Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria), to which we add Ghana, taking advantage of the ACP Group countries’ incorporation into the programme to expand the range of action of our master's degree in tourism. This expansion resulted in a total of 8 countries, 14 institutions and 92 participants (54 students and 38 STA). The decision to expand was taken as a way of guaranteeing a certain continuity, one of the KA107's major problems, which was highlighted by all the participants.Funding cuts left us with 5 countries, 7 institutions and 39 participants. In the end, the total number of participants came to 32, representing 82% of the SEPIE funded mobilities and divided into 15 student mobilities (1 outgoing and 14 incoming) and 17 teaching-staff mobilities (8 outgoing and 9 incoming), plus 1 other student flow from Ukraine, partially paid with OS funds (travel expenses). Once again this year, both the incoming and the outgoing mobilities planned with Morocco were the most disappointing, accounting for 18% of exchanges that did not materialise. As we said, 82% of the mobilities awarded took place. We consider this to be a good result, basically because this is significantly higher than the figure for the previous two-year period. Additionally, outgoing staff mobility, which we regard as the driving force behind every exchange, has risen sufficiently. Erasmus mobility is crucial to internationalisation for two reasons. First, because mobility is a high-profile activity and, second, because structures that encourage student exchanges not only within Europe but also with other countries have been created and fostered through Erasmus programmes. As a first step toward achieving these goals – in this case the physical mobility of participants – we at Universitat de Girona would like an average of 350 students to take part every academic year in an exchange and, of course, Erasmus + is a way for a large number of students to do that. The KA107 action is a tool that will help us reach this goal, although given the characteristics of the initiative, it will obviously never be as effective as KA103.

This represents 80% of the mobilities at last agreed with the SEPIE. The inbound flows have been from all possible countries of origin, except Morocco, while the outbound flows have been basically from Eastern countries, especially as far as students are concerned, since all of them have gone to Russia. As mentioned before, we have carried out 80% of the mobilities we applied for. We believe this is a good result, on the one hand because this Call has been a pilot experience and on the other, because the approval dates of the projects cause, in some way, the loss of the mobility Call for the next academic year. Erasmus mobility is a key tool for internationalization. The reason for this is twofold. Firstly, because mobility is an activity with a lot of visibility and, secondly, through the participation in Erasmus, university structures have been created and facilitated which stimulate student exchanges not only throughout Europe but also with other destinations. With the intention to achieve these objectives in relation to the mobility of participants, the ORE (International Relations Office) proposes that each academic course an average of 350 students participate in an exchange and, of course, Erasmus+ is the way to achieve this for a large percentage of these participants. The KA107 action is a tool that must contribute to this general objective, although it is clear that, due to the characteristics of this action, it will never be to the extent of the KA103 action. On the other hand, the mobility for teaching, both incoming and outgoing, which is a clearly favored action in this type of projects, is also one of the objectives of the UdG as it is another basic element for the internationalization of the institution.
