"Politecnico di Bari is a technological university, with about 10,000 students and approximately 600 permanent staff members, including professors and employees. It offers courses in Engineering and Architecture, 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle. The international mobility of students and staff, as well as the international cooperation, is part not only of its institutional tasks, but above all, of its strategic objectives for the modernisation and improvement of all its activities (education, research, technology transfer, cultural and social role, funds raising, governance). The objectives of the Erasmus Mobility KA103 project are therefore the following:- to enable the largest number of students of Politecnico to undertake part of their studies in a foreign university, belonging to a country partecipating in the Erasmus program and to enable students to train in a company / Research Center / foreign university.- to attract the largest number of students from foreign universities.- to increase cooperation with foreign universities through staff mobility, both for teaching and for training.- to carry out the above activities while respecting the founding principles of the Erasmus program of the EU, as described in the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE);- to pursue, in mobility activities, the highest quality, according to the Erasmus Criteria / ECHE.Shortly, to contribute as much as possible to the development and diffusion of a modern European culture, both within our Institution and in the countries and institutions partecipating in the program. The mobilities carried out by Politecnico di Bari, are the following: 164 students in mobility for study, 22 students in mobility fortraineeship, 8 professors in teaching mobility and 1 member of the technical-administrative staff in the training mobility.78 students coming from foreign universities have been hosted at Politecnico di Bari, within the project. The activities carried out within the scope of the project were the following:- information and training of the participants on the objectives of the project and how to participate (information days, individual interviews with the participants);- public calls, to clearly select assignees of mobility grants;- preparation of the participants with regard to the linguistic and inter-cultural aspects;- full academic recognition of the activities of study or training undertaken abroad, with clear rules and efficient procedures;- the release, for incoming students, of appropriate certification of activities (transcript of records), clear, complete, and conforming to the ECTS Guide. The activities firstly involved the staff of the International Relations Office, the coordinators for the mobility and the Delegates of the Rector for the Internationalisation, assisted by all members of the community of Politecnico, both professors and students. The impact of the project was ultimately to a large extent, in terms of ""learning outcomes"" of students, and involvement of the whole institution in mobility. As a matter of fact, the program is considered very important, as well as other similar activities of international cooperation for the modernisation and internationalisation of Politecnico di Bari."

Macroscopic adhesion is of utmost importance in key technologies such as soft and climbing robots, aerospace grasping technologies, human-robot interactions, pick-and-place manipulators. Commonly, bioinspired adhesives interfaces have been characterized from a quasi-static perspective, neglecting the effect of dynamic excitations. Nevertheless, recent observations suggest that added micro-vibrations may be exploited to strongly enhance and rapidly tune macroscopic adhesion. By exploiting the multiplicative coupling between geometric- and viscoelastic vibration-induced enhancements of macroscopic adhesion, SURFACE aims at designing future soft interfaces with unprecedented and tuneable adhesion strength. To this end, I aim to: (i) develop highly efficient numerical tools for studying adhesion of patterned soft surfaces under micro-vibration excitation, (ii) unveil the coupling effect between topography and viscoelasticity that determine the interfacial strength and toughness (iii) design optimal surface topography and excitation for macroscopic adhesion tuning, by exploiting artificial intelligence models to unveil new mechanisms for adhesion enhancement, (iv) prove the adhesive performance reached, by experimentally testing high-resolution 3D printed interfaces with the desired topography and superposed micro-vibrations. So far, the adhesive performance of bioinspired patterned interfaces has been limited by manufacturing capabilities at the micro/nanoscale. SURFACE ground-breaking approach aims at exploiting dynamics excitation to outperform state-of-the-art adhesive interfaces. By exploiting artificial intelligence models, SURFACE aims at revealing new mechanisms for adhesion enhancement, which lay beyond our intuition. Rapidly tuneable strong adhesive interfaces have the potential to revolutionize cutting-edge technologies based on soft adhesive interfaces that require to move and place objects quickly and with accuracy.

"is a technical university with about 10,000 students, and about 570 permanent staff members, including professors and administrative and technical staff. It offers courses in Engineering and Architecture, in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle. Since last year Politecnico di Bari has had a reduction of staff members but, at the same time, an increase of students enrolled, of graduates and of all educational performance.Mobility and international cooperation are considered strategic for the modernization and improvement of all activities (teaching, research, technology transfer, cultural and social role, fundraising, governance). Since last year, this strategy has been pursued ever more active and concrete. In particular, compared to the past, an intensive exchange with Partner countries has been implemented under the International Credit Mobility (KA107).The objectives of the Erasmus+ project mobility KA103 (mobility of students and staff with Programme Countries) are the following:- Enabling the largest possible number of students in Politecnico di Bari to carry out part of their studies at a university in a foreign country of the Erasmus+ Programme, or a traineeship in a foreign company / research center / university.- Attracting the largest possible number of students in foreign universities to carry out part of their studies at Politecnico di Bari.- Increasing cooperation with foreign universities through staff mobility, both for teaching and for training.- Carrying out all the said activities in compliance with the founding principles of the EU Erasmus+ Progeamme, as described also in the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE);- Pursuing, in the mobility activities, the highest quality, according to the Erasmus+ / ECHE criteria;- Ultimately, delivering the greatest contribution to the development and dissemination of modern European culture, both internally and within Programme Countries and their institutions.People who partecipated in the project at Politecnico di Bari are: 134 students in mobility for study (42 female, 92 male), 19 students in mobility for traineeship (11 female, 8 male), 8 staff members in mobility for teaching (2 female, 6 male). Of the 19 traineeeships abroad, 8 were carried out after the partecipants’ graduation. In the framework of the project. 67 students came from foreign universities. Many activities have been carried out, all of them with the active partecipation of students and staff, adding great value to Politecnico di Bari. In summary, they are:- information and training of the partecipants about the aims of the project (information days, individual talks with the partecipants);- issue of public competitions, to clearly select the beneficiaries of mobility grants;- active guidance to carry out a quality mobility, i.e. to the formulation of learning agreement tailored to students’ profiles, and to the actual completion of the planned studies;- training of the partecipants regarding linguistic and inter-cultural aspects;- full academic recognition of study or traineeship activities carried out abroad, following clear rules and efficient procedures;- issue of proper, clear, prompt and comlete certification of the activities (transcript of records) in accordance to the ECTS Guide. The activities have officially involved the staff of the International Relations Office, Departmental Coordinators for Mobility, and Rector's Delegates for Internationalization. To varying degrees, however, all members of the community of the university, especially professors and students, have been involved. The mobility of students had an average duration of:- three months for traineeship with an average of 3 ECTS credits;- six months for studies with an average of 34 ECTS credits. The overall satisfaction of students participating in the project was very high, based on the final reports they compiled on the EU portal dedicated to them. The feedback received from the incoming students has been extremely useful to understand how to improvethe quality of the studies and of life in the Polytechnic, in an international perspective, even if only a small percentage of them compiled the EU survey (16 over 67).The impact of the project was, as last year, quite big, in terms of ""learning outcomes"" of the students, and of involvement of the whole institution in the mobility activities. In the long term the project is considered very important, along with other similar activities of international cooperation, for the modernization and internationalization of Politecnico di Bari."
