Signing the Erasmus+ financial agreement for 2014 was a big step towards the development of the Medical University of Lublin. The agreement for 2014 anticipated 32 mobilities with the total grant for individual support amounting to 52 350€. Thanks to the involvement of the Institutional Erasmus+ Coordinator, members of the International Relations Team (Erasmus Office) and Departmental Coordinators, the University carried out 39 mobilities (121,88%) for the total grant for individual support amounting to 58 720€ (112%). Mobilities for studies were carried out by 11 students (137,5%), practical training- 19 students (135,71%), STA- 4 staff members (100%), STT- 5 staff members (83,3%). Due to the received grant from the project, the University carried out 121,88% of the mobilities originally planned at the moment of signing the financial agreement for 2014. The Erasmus+ project allowed the University to realize its strategy of internalization while carrying out the provisions of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and the University’s Erasmus Policy Statement. While carrying out the project University’s main priority was to reach the biggest possible number of beneficiaries in order to maximize the use of the received financial support. In all its procedures the University followed the principle of equal access so that all students and staff members (especially from disadvantaged groups) could equally use the opportunities stemming from the project. Following the rules of ECHE, the Medical University of Lublin made all the efforts so that the beneficiaries of the programme could develop their knowledge, competencies, increase their employability and personal development in the job market. The project allowed the University to develop in many different fields- to extend its educational offer for foreigners, increase the visibility of the institution on international level. The University developed good practices in the recognition of learning effects achieved abroad. Increased number of student and staff mobilities had a very positive effect on statistics concerning the indicators of higher education internationalization. In sum, the University hosted 16 students carrying out their studies and practical trainings, and 4 staff members carrying out teaching assignments. Visits of foreign guests allowed for a transfer of knowledge and good practices between the partners of exchanges. The mentors of the incoming students developed their intercultural, language and didactic skills and the University could develop its didactic offer so that it reached the widest possible group of students. Thanks to realization of mobilities in Erasmus+ programme the University established new links which helped in establishing joint projects outside Erasmus+ programme. The programme had a very positive impact on its direct beneficiaries, the University, the region and all foreign partners taking part in it. The University signed many new bilateral agreements, established closer relations with the local and regional authorities, and also with other Universities in Lublin carrying out mobility programmes. The university’s aim is to use its experience acquired during the project’s realization for its future editions and to enhance its actions so as to use to the fullest the possibilities given by the project and to reach the biggest possible number of beneficiaries. As before, the University is going to promote the Erasmus+ programme among the academic community and all the other potential recipients to increase their awareness about the positive impact of international mobilities. Erasmus+ programme is a big support for every higher education institution and the Medical University of Lublin will make all the efforts to fully benefit from its potential.

"Currently, for the Medical University of Lublin and Tbilisi State Medical University, the key to success in the field of education is internationalization as an integral principle of development strategy for all spheres of university activity and the analysis of the internationalization process is an inseparable element of the internal system ensuring high quality of education. In order to fully implement this plan, the Mobility Project ""KA 107"" had a task to fulfill the Bologna Declaration's assumptions, inter alia: building openness in an international and inter-institutional context, aimed at exchanging knowledge and human resources, as well as long lasting cooperation in particular between educational institutions. In addition, the project ""KA 107"" perfectly fits in the assumptions of the ""Strategy for the development of higher education: 2010-2020"", where the strategic goal is to improve the quality of: education, research and university relations with the social and economic environment. On the local ground, this project supports the development strategy of Lublin 2013-2020 as the city of ""Genius Loci"" aspiring to be a bridge between science, business and local government. An inseparable partner in these efforts is Tbilisi as a partner city of Lublin. In the face of these challenges, it is obvious that academic education is not able to meet all the needs of a modern higher education system, and the mobility program ""KA 107"" perfectly complements this deficiency.Project in numbers:Medical University of Lublin -5 employee mobility (2 STA, 3 STT);Tbilisi State Medical University - 3 employee mobility (2 STA; 1 STT); 3 SMS - mobility of students to studyResults achieved after the implementation of the ""KA 107"" project:For students, the most important result was the consolidation and deepening of theoretical knowledge acquired during the studies at the home university, and the acquisition of practical skills related to the subject of study in the new environment. An additional advantage of the mobility was enhancing the professional knowledge of medical language in English-language classes. The employees gained new experiences and contacts that directly translated into the effects of didactic and administrative work. There was strategic professional development of employees in reference to the individual needs and goals of the organization in the form of creating modern, dynamic, committed and professional university environment ready to implement good practices and new methods of daily activities of both universities. Verification of convergence of curricula at the medical and dentistry faculty enabled to refine these programs by increasing the competitiveness of educational offers for future students and has translated into a higher position in national and international rankings. In addition, innovative and improved ways of handling target groups were created by providing more attractive programs for students according to their needs and expectations. The boost in the plan of action of both universities in the scope of initiating and supporting international research projects allowed to create thematic cooperation networks. Both universities managed to improve skills in matters of preparation, monitoring and management of EU projects as well as implementation of internationalization strategy with increased allocation of funds and more efficient acquisition of EU grants. As far as the long-term impact of the project is concerned, both universities have developed good practices in the scope of recognition and validation of competences acquired during periods of mobility abroad, additionally increased mobility of students and employees positively influenced the perception of universities in the international environment. Foreign didactic and training mobilities allowed the transfer of knowledge and good practices between cooperating partners, which upshot in better teaching results. Administrative employees through international exchange improved their international project management skills, based on high quality and work system standards and gained valuable experience in a different cultural environment. Local students, despite the lack of direct participation in exchange through their involvement in buddy programme, have developed their inter-cultural and linguistic skills which in a long term will be an advantage on the fast-growing labour market. Thanks to the implementation of mobilities under the project ""KA 107"", both universities have established many foreign contacts that had a positive impact on educational and scientific development outside the Erasmus + program. In the long-term, participation in the project influenced the visibility of the educational offer of UML and TSMU among foreign students as well as the unification and extension of the catalog of subjects taught in English."
