The number of students undertaking eligible mobility and the predicted increase should have been known in 20-21 however the Brexit issue and other external factors will mean this is likely to be delayed a further year. As in previous reports the exchange programmes are compulsory and ongoing annually and there was very little changes to the project for this period of funding. Student Mobility and Exchange have been a part of student life long before the Erasmus programme since the late 1970's early 1980's. The KA103 Erasmus funding gives the University an opportunity to widen participation as some students who receive extra funding would not be available to undertake the mobility due to financial constraints. The University of Hull's outward bound objectives are to offer every student an opportunity to study outside of the UK. The Erasmus numbers for this period remained relatively stable at 131 compared to 130. Note this report is based on the number of students who are eligible for Erasmus funding only and not the number of actual students who undertake International mobility and short term programmes. Mobility objectives are being met and will continue to help with mobility targets (not specifically Erasmus targets). In 2019 the University of Hull appointed a new Pro-Vice Chancellor international who has been working on the University's Internationalisation Strategy. The University is undergoing a full transformation and full reviews are ongoing. The faculties still currently have dedicated placement study abroad teams which look after outbound students and promote opportunities. The Careers, Employability and Study Abroad service are still looking after the face to face side of the student practicalities to ensure that the Charter is adhered to. The Academic Partnerships Officer is the current coordinator and still completes KA103 - 107 bids, coordinates the mobility reports and looks after all mobility partnerships. The university promotes mobility before students start their degree programmes by attending our open and applicant days. Our Study abroad team promotes mobility by attending the Fresher's fayre and holding a variety of sessions for students in the 1st few weeks of term. The study abroad staff are no longer involved in intercultural activities or coordination of arrivals and welcome events for all students this is now coordinated by a separate team which is working well and assisting with the integration of international student with home students. The project results for outgoing mobility in 2018 are not dissimilar to 2017 results. The profile of participants is still limited to 1st cycle students, postgraduate and research students tend to complete shorter periods of study so are not usually eligible for funding so do not show on the report. Statistics show that most of our students go to French, German, Spanish and Italian speaking locations, and this is due to our modern language compulsory student mobility opportunities. The Erasmus partnerships within education, drama and psychology and science subjects, has increased outward bound students but in worldwide locations and not Europe. There has been small numbers of students undertaking summer programmes for zero credits and group visits which have specifically targeted widening participation and disadvantaged students for example a credit bearing summer school which has taken place in Aarhus University wish is still ongoing but is outside of the Erasmus programme. Summer school students outbound from the Faculty of Business Law and Politics (FBLP) to European and Worldwide destinations. Incoming summer programmes are also run in FBLP and there are 3/4 week English Language proficiency programmes running which incoming students can apply for. The Faculty of Science and Engineering have issues with semester and full year programme offerings due to non English taught programmes and opportunities are limited usually to shorter term programmes integrated into a module / field trip.

The exchange programmes were running in the University within the Utrecht network see www.utrecht-network.org before the Erasmus programme came into existence so student mobility and exchange have been a part of student life at the University since the late 1970's early 1980's. Students would not be able to afford to take part in some of the mobility activities without the top-up funding via Erasmus. The University of Hull's outward bound objectives, which to increase numbers of Erasmus mobility students has increased over the past 5 years from 73 to 135 (55% increase) there has been a decrease in the number of mobilities for 16-17 under the Erasmus scheme. Note this is purely the number of students who are Erasmus funded and not the number of actual students who undertake mobility. Hull believes objectives are being met and will continue to help with EU targets of a 13% increase in mobility by 2020. The University of Hull in reviewing its internationaliation strategy and still had several major projects to complete after a series of reviews. University structure has been changed with departmental merges and a full professional services review. These changes have allowed schools to look at provision of a flexible curriculum, embedded mobility and an opportunity for all students to take part, either working, studying or virtual or short mobility programmes for all cycles. The other projects that have been fully completed are the student journey and student experience projects. Staff and student mobility is now high profile and there has been a review on mobility which has been on going from August 2017 and a review of exchange partners which this review should be fully complete by September 2018. The review for the International Office was completed in January 2017, when the study abroad face to face student staff were transferred to the Careers Employability and Study Abroad service. The manager of the, then Go Connect teram was transferred to the Academic Partnerships Office but remains the Institutional coordinator and still completes KA103 - 107 bids and coordinators the mobility reports. Staff have worked on the web pages to make information on mobility user friendly. Study abroad staff met objectives for this mobility year which are to promote mobility before students start their degree programmes by attending our 10 open days. Student abroad also promoted mobility by attending the week long Fresher's fayre and holding a variety of sessions for students in the 1st few weeks of term. The study abroad staff no are no longer involved in intercultural activities or coordinate arrivals and welcome events for all students this is now completed by the Wellbeing and Welfare services. The project results for outgoing mobility show for incoming students shows that Go Connect’ s activities has an impact on how students view the University services provided. The profile of participants is currently limited to 1st cycle students, although cycle 2 and 3 students are increasing slowly and those departments who have Erasmus or other study abroad partnerships and are predominately Hull Business School (HUBS), Languages, Law, Politics and Humanities. This is why the statistics from the project show that most of our students go to France, Germany Spain and Italy. This profile will change substantially over the length of the current EHIC, and should show a high increase in European Erasmus partnerships within Education, Drama and Psychology and science subjects, with an increase of outward bound students. The University has coordinated summer programmes and statistics are now being kept through the move on system which is now being used for outward bound students but will also be used for incoming students during 16-17. . There has been small numbers of students undertaking summer programmes for zero credits and group visits which have specifically targeted widening participation and disadvantaged students for example a credit bearing summer school with 20 students which took place in Aarhus University during summer of 2015 which took place again this year. Summer school students outbound from HUBS to European and Worldwide destinations. Incoming summer programmes are also run in HUBS and there are 3/4 week English Language proficiency programmes running which incoming students can apply for. The professional English programme running during the summer which is part funded by the Utrecht Network has been successful for the past 2 years with 10 research staff members from partner institutions being funded to take part under the Erasmus mobility.
