Democracy places high demands on citizens. Political decisions have an impact on many different areas of life, they often affect future generations or neighbouring countries and they are influenced by international and global developments. One sixth of the world’s population is young and the importance of youth participation for the future of economic, societal and political development is widely acknowledged. Democracy education enables young people to recognize and represent their interests, to participate in political processes and, in doing so, to meet their fellow human beings and their concerns with respect. The project DEMOGAMES is based on the didactic approach of game-based learning and applies it to teaching young citizens on democracy. Mediated knowledge on democratic processes, norms and values often remains abstract. In contrast, highly complex facts can be conveyed in an activating, participative and engaging manner through game based learning. With the project proposed here, several game based learning tools will be designed and later on applied in promoting democracy education in youth work and non-formal education with the main purpose to engage, connect and empower young people. We are confident that democracy education can lead to greater understanding of democratic processes, norms, and values and increase the ability of young people to effectively participate in society and political life.DEMOGAMES will advance democracy education with respect to learning about, through and for democracy. Our objectives are to introduce young citizens to the topic of democracy in an engaging and participative way by playing analog and digital games. The active participation in playful units awakens young citizens’ interest in the subject and promotes experiential learning. The project includes several activities for young people and practitioners in youth work and non-formal education to engage in discussions on democracy related topics beyond their local, regional or national experience.

This project is about supporting actors in all sectors of the lifelong learning system to enhance the development, validation and recognition of the entrepreneurship key competence across lifelong learning. It will do this by creating the Entrepreneurship360 platform as a one-stop-shop to provide guidance, collate tools, share practice, learn through online training and connect those working on the practical implementation of EntreComp into learning and work. The project includes partners from, and will actively engage with wider networks of practitioners and organisations from, formal education, youth organisations, employers and business/start-up. This project will drive the implementation of EntreComp as a tool for lifelong learning sectors to place a focus on the transversal skills needed in the modern workforce - addressing skills gaps and mismatches to support social inclusion and economic growth. The objectives of the project derive directly from EntreComp research carried out by partners with the European Commission – we will target lifelong learning organisations and practitioners working across Europe to access and engage with the Entrepreneurship360 platform as a one-stop-shop for the peer networks, guidance, tools, resources and MOOC based training that they need to understand and use the EntreComp competence framework. The project will:• Mobilise engagement across lifelong learning to understand the relevance of EntreComp• Connect practitioners and organisations interested in or actively using the EntreComp framework• Empower learning organisations and practitioners to use EntreComp as a tool to drive entrepreneurial learning design, assessment and recognition• Tailor guidance to specific contexts through how-to guides on the potential of EntreComp for emerging areas of potential - initially (1) Employers - HR and recruitment (2) Youthwork and (3) Assessment and certification/recognition• Map progress of the EntreComp community [evidenced through an extensive baseline survey and follow-up survey after 30 months to assess progress and impact]The project will target practitioners, organisations and system level actors across lifelong learning. It involves partners from across lifelong learning sectors, and this will drive active engagement with networks from formal education, youth and non-formal sector, employers/business and start-up support organisations. Specific partners will take the lead on recommending and implementing networking approaches with specific sectors of lifelong learning. This drive up the quantity and quality of design, implementation, assessment, transparency and recognition of the entrepreneurship key competence. It will target governance systems, professional networks, learning organisations, business, employers and practitioners involved in the design and delivery of learning in any setting. This project seeks to show how EntreComp can be part of a transnational solution to the needs identified above. While the focus will be on Europe, the project will reach out to worldwide networks, both sharing and showcasing the value of EU initiatives and EU funding. This will be the first action focused one-stop-shop focusing solely on how EntreComp can drive key competence development across lifelong learning sectors. It will be innovative in its focus on all sectors of lifelong learning from formal education through to HR recruitment and start-up. The project partners can capitalise on their strong links and networks into education, youth, employment and business sectors to create a holistic and highly relevant online one-stop-shop to support entrepreneurship key competence through implementation of EntreComp. The intellectual outputs will include the platform which will be the one-stop-shop at the centre of project and bringing together all the deliverables for the engaged participants including (IO2) a comprehensive toolbox of practices, tools and resources, (IO3) four tailored guides to support emerging areas of use for EntreComp e.g. recruitment or youthwork and areas where additional guidance is needed e.g. assessment and (IO4) a set of two MOOCs to provide a learning pathway for participants to engage and learn how to implement EntreComp. A project baseline and final survey of perceptions, understanding and usage will be designed and shared at the beginning of the project, and this will be repeated with participants, and correlated with the type of involvement they have chosen (mapped across five EntreComp goals). This will be the primary evaluation approach to map the progression of organisations actively using EntreComp to evidence a deeper and more sustainable use of EntreComp by practitioners, organisations and education systems engaged through the platform. This will ultimately drive more effective and higher quality development, assessment and recognition of the entrepreneurship key competence across lifelong learning in Europe.

The European Union is facing several crises and European integration as such is fundamentally challenged by anti-European and anti-democratic movements. Thus, there is an urgent need for bringing motives and driving forces of European integration into focus. The leading values of the EU laid down in article 2 of the Treaty of the European Union were a starting point for this discussion. The project „Translating European Values into Practice” (TEVIP) aims to break the abstract framework of fundamental values down into their practical meaning for young people. TEVIP provides interactive methods and materials that allow for discussing European values based on exemplary concrete conflict situations. With the help of simulation games, large group methods, role plays, activating games etc. young people examine how their individual value sets, everyday conflicts and controversies allude to European values and experience the practical impact of European values for their lives. TEVIP's target group are multipliers working with young people (aged under 25) who have had no or only few points of contact with Europe-related topics or political and civil education in general before. Methods are especially concepted for non-formal education but may also be used by teachers in formal education systems. Most of the methods can also be a used by international youth groups at European youth events, camps etc. The products are a collection of materials and a training of trainers manual available in English, German, Polish and Italian and free for download (https://www.tevip.eu/) for multipliers in the field of political and civic education and the European public. TEVIP helps multipliers and youth workers to put European values on the agenda and to conduct interactive workshops on the topic. Participants and recipients are provided with feasible materials, methodical competence in using interactive methods and enjoy a modular workshop concept that can easily be adapted to their individual needs. All methods and activities that aim at translating European values into practice were jointly developed, tested, assessed and revised by the project partners and their networks. Blended mobility tools were used in order to bring in young peoples experiences and inputs at an early stage. Multiplier events in three countries and a joint staff training transferred skills and knowledge to trainers and helped to disseminate the project results. The meaning and impact of European values as the fundament of European integration will remain a 'hot topic' in the next years. TEVIP contributes to this discussion by providing innovative and interactive workshop formats applicable in the field of non-formal education of youth. In addition the project team pusblished a position paper on the role of European values in the context of non-formal education with the aim of contributing to the public debate. In sum, the project draws a line from today's political challenges to classic human rights education to methodical competences of trainers and youth workers.

SemiFit - Seminar for intercultural trainers in HRE -was a space for experienced and emerging youth educational practitioners from different fields to exchange competences and experience on the different domains of intercultural trainings with linking clearly to European Human Rights education and youth work issues. SemiFit in HRE should serve as an example of Peer and Lifelong Learning where educational practitioners have had the chance to share their competencies and experiences and learn new concepts from peers. In SemiFit, every participant was actively involved in the preparation and design of the learning space, content and flow. The project was linked to key European youth policy developments where non-formal educational youth work faces a need to better connect to but also bring in its expertise: the European Youth convention in 2020, the COE rec on Youth work, the European Training Strategy for YW, the development of a European Charta on Youth work, but also reference cooperations such as “Becoming a part of Europe”, “Youth for Human Rights” or digital youth work: all indicate youth issues in Europe become more political. Such there was seen a need to foster strategically the processes of capacity development of EDC/HRE work in the field of youth, as in the recent years barriers in a lot of European countries have become higher. Semifit was developed as a partnersahip for educational practitioners and their organisations to further develop their competences and network with each other. During 3 seminars a total of 85 youth workers, teachers, trainers, facilitators and coaches from 22 organizations active on youth work, human rights and democracy education from 14 different countries: Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Slovenia and Italy cooperated in seminars on: - Project Management under Erasmus+ in Almuñécar - Spain November / December 2018 - Citizenship Education in Berlin - Germany April/May 2019 and - Blended Learning in Trento - Italy October 2019 Specific objectives of SemiFit: Bringing together educational practitioners from different fields, Designing a space of co-creation and active participation, To develop and exchange competences and experiences on specific areas of training that have an emerging relevance in European Youth Work Co-Creation of tangible resources as a result of seminars’ activities aiming at a follow-up, where participants gad the chance to go further with what they have gained (methodology, tools and connections) in their local reality. The project tried to create an environment for educational practitioners to come together, take different roles and approaches and to be critical upon the methods that they use in their work, such provided a space for them to switch their roles to from educator to participants, expert to learner, contributor to documentalist etc.By gathering qualified people from different education fields - formal and non formal, youth and student organizations, social work and youth work and with different interests the Project facilitated feedback, space for innovative approaches and new opportunities, thus created an environment for learning and sharing. Such it also supporting the processes of European capacity development of youth work organisations and of educators active in the youth field.

"The project ""ENGAGE - Building together European learning material on Education for Citizenship"" ambitions to create a European interactive, innovative, pedagogical and multilingual module on education for citizenship for pupils aged 8-12 and their teachers. The 11 developed modules are divided in 3 clusters as follows: 1- Me and the others: Emotional Identity, Relationship and Conflict resolution, Children’s rights;2- Society and the world: History and memory, Media education, Diversity and discrimination, Sustainable development, Solidarity;3- Participation in democratic society: Human rights, Democracy, Participation. Our partnership brings together 8 organisations in 7 member States:- France: CIDEM - the project leader- France : Union Régionale de la Ligue de l'Enseignement de Bourgogne- Germany: AdB- Austria: Zentrum Polis- Spain: Fundacion CIVES- Poland: Center for Citizenship Education- United Kingdom: CSV- Belgium: DARE Network, a pan European network with 46 members in all the 28 European States, in charge of the dissemination of the project at the European level. All the partners were selected on the ground of their direct expertise regarding the issue of citizenship education and youth work as well as their experience in the management of European project.ENGAGE project was implemented at both national and European levels. In each participating country, the partner was in charge of setting up a national consortium or a ""working group"" on a cross-sectoral composition which brought together several representatives of the education sector: primary and/ lower secondary schools, one or two teachers; one academic researcher, expert on the issue of citizenship education; one State representative or public-body in charge of education policies. The main task was to conduct a national need analysis and assessment regarding education for citizenship curricula, both in terms of content and methodological approaches. This process led to the draft of a theoretical study and an empirical report to each of the countries involved. The results of the 6 national initiatives were put together, which helped in identifing and addressing issues of common concerns and needs and further defining the content of the pedagogical learning material. This work was useful to shape and develop a common content effective to all 6 partners, and at the same time compliant to their specific national context. The developed learning module translated into the 5 languages of the partners, has two thematic issues: civism and living together in harmony, and general interest and democratic participation. The rationale of the project ENGAGE involves the following: European countries integrate citizenship education into their qualification requirements for teachers and schools, in distinct ways within the EU, notably because of the cultural and historical specifics of each Member State. Moreover, in the EU, education for citizenship, understood in both aspects of living together in harmony and democratic participation, is undergoing similar evolutions. In fact, both thematic areas provided are influenced by similar important issues in the EU Member States, such as for example: the younger electorate were becoming increasingly disengaged with the democratic system and most of them lack interest in politics, at the national and European levels, illustrated by significant abstention rates for voters aged 18-25.On the other hand, the major concerns affecting young people are bound up with globalization, which raises questions of major importance to society, such as European integration, migration movements, and ageing population, thus making the “living together"" education problematic. The political and human horizon of the EU is to have 28 distinct people living together in harmony and to nurture the feeling of belonging to the same common destiny. In the context of rising extremism, intolerance, racism, at the European scale, working together in setting up a European and cross-sectoral platform for cooperation and the exchange of good practices is a highly relevant means to face these common challenges. Therefore, these issues call for new ways of organising teaching and learning in the two subject areas of citizenship education. Indeed, the learning material developed in the framework of the project ENGAGE appears to be the right answer that includes curricular content with a bearing on the European dimension of citizenship education. In a nutshell, the project ENGAGE aims at providing educational personnel (formal and informal) a useful and appropriate tool to tackle the issue of a European citizenship education with young pupils. With the relevant learning supports developed in the framework of the project ENGAGE, the module will be able to foster the living together in harmony and the spirit of citizenship at the local, national, regional and European levels."
