<< Objectives >>Food waste is one of the major global problems today. Based on data from Our World in Data, the European Union wastes 89.28 million tons of food per year. Portugal, for example, presents the value of 1.39 million tons. Italy reveals the figure of 8.78 million tons; Poland, 8.97; Spain, 7.7 and Romania, 2.27. In Letonia and Greece, although to a lesser extent, the waste is immense – 215.618 and 487.839 tonnes, respectively. On a global scale, according to the FAO, per year, “(…) 931 million tons of food end up in the garbage. As a result, all the resources that were used in food production, including water, land use, energy, human labour and capital, are also wasted.” This waste is shocking when we look at the reality of countries and contexts with difficulties in accessing food for subsistence, in many cases, basic. As this is a problem that goes beyond food waste – it also encompasses the resources spent and the environmental and social consequences – the United Nations has decreed, by 2030, a set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that aim to solve/mitigate some of the biggest society's problems in order to ensure a sustainable, integrated and inclusive future for all.In this sense, it is increasingly crucial to work with future generations for their empowerment, awareness and information about current and future environmental and social challenges. It was based on this current reality and the importance of making young people an active part in social and environmental change that this project idea came about. According to data from the European Union (2022), «However, although 96% of young Europeans agree that climate change is a “serious problem”, only 64% of those aged 15 to 25 in the EU have taken steps to fight it in the past six months.». Our idea is, therefore, to work with young people, in an intercultural and transnational context, on issues related to food waste, promoting not only knowledge and information, but also encouraging more sustainable and green thoughts and behaviours. This project, in addition to the impact on the day-to-day and on the choices of each one at an individual level, aims to activate young people for social participation, decision-making processes and social and environmental change. Through non-formal methods we want young people to discover new ways of social participation and to become aware of their role in reversing these challenges/problems.-OBJECTIVES--a- General- Social inclusion of young people in all its aspects, with particular emphasis on decision-making on social and environmental changes.-Specific-According to SMART logic:- Promote the development of key and green competences among young people through mobility opportunities for non-formal learning purposes;- Empower young people in the project's theme, link them with each other and involve them in the processes of participation and social and environmental change;- Promote accessible opportunities in order to include young people with fewer opportunities in personal and social development initiatives;- Reinforce European social values such as diversity, inclusion, tolerance and respect;- Activate young people to face local challenges and to adopt thoughts and behaviours with a positive impact on society and the environment.<< Implementation >>The project has four phases:- Planning;- Preparation;- Implementation;- Follow-up.These phases cover a set of activities that, in total, will be central to achieving the project's objectives and results.-PLANNING-The planning phase covers a range of activities such as, for example, co-production of the application, constitution of the consortium, submission of the application, idea development, identification of needs and definition of processes, procedures and strategies. In addition, it encompasses the definition of profiles of those involved, selection processes, design of activity plans, definition of learning objectives and the definition of methodology and methods for the project.-PREPARATION-The activities that are part of the preparation phase include the preparation of young people for the project and for activities, in particular mobility. These sessions will have orientation topics with a view to meeting the needs of the participants.Preparation activities will be carried out in local groups and in transnational groups (using digital media). There will be a physical mobility activity in the preparation phase – preparatory visit. This visit will last for 2 days, plus 2 days for the travel. We intend to involve 2 participants per organisation (1 group leader and 1 young person, preferably with fewer opportunities). The visit will take place in Lisbon (Portugal).-IMPLEMENTATION-The main activity is the youth exchange, taking place in the city of Lisbon (Portugal). The activity has 5 days, plus 2 for the travel. We expect to involve 4 young people per organisation, 3 of which will be in a situation of fewer opportunities, and 1 group leader. We will still have the presence of 2 facilitators.-FOLLOW-UP-The last phase encompasses monitoring and evaluation, and there will be defined and articulated processes between the consortium to properly respond to the needs, and the dissemination and exploitation of the results. The last activities take on a strong external aspect so that new actions arise and to promote the sustainability of results and benefits.Regarding the profile of the participants:-YOUNG PEOPLE--a- Generic- Age between 13-18 years, preferably;- With minimal knowledge and command of the English language;- Motivated to participate in European mobility projects;- With emotional and time availability to participate in the project and in the activities involved.-b- SpecificsThe profile above is the general one. Added to this profile is the particularity that, in each group of participants, there may be young people with fewer opportunities. The objective is to involve young people with fewer opportunities and without fewer opportunities so that there is a rich sharing and learning, based on different and complementary experiences and experiences. In terms of obstacles, those identified in the work with the consortium's young people essentially focus on:- Economic: coming from low-income families, which makes it impossible to participate in learning activities (when these have an associated cost);- Related to the education system: arising from the maladjustment of the means of formal learning to the development of competences that is reflected in situations of learning maladjustments;- Cultural: related to the difficulty in foreign languages;- Geographic: from places with low supply of services and opportunities.-GROUP LEADER-- Age equal to or greater than 18 years; With knowledge and/or experience at the level:- Of Erasmus+ Programme and/or other European programmes;- Of intercultural group work;- Of work and integration of fewer opportunities;- Of english (spoken, written and reading);- The methodology of non-formal and informal education and respective methods and dynamics;- The management of learning, time, expectations and people;- Group leadership competences.-FACILITATORS-- Age equal to or greater than 18 years;- With a contractual, service provision and/or informal relationship with the organisation; With specialized knowledge and/or experience amplified to the level:- Of food waste, environmental issues, climate change, etc.;- Of management and facilitation of intercultural groups (being able to act quickly in conflict situations and implement resolution measures);- The methodology of non-formal and informal education and its applicability to youth;- Of digital and physical platforms and tools for working with young people;- Of work and integration of fewer opportunities;- Of project management and partnership management;- Of English (spoken, written and reading);- Group leadership competences.<< Results >>-RESULTS--a- TangiblesThey correspond to the materialized results of the project, that is, those that exist for consultation in physical and/or digital format.
