There are several ways to increase motivation and promote coping, but how the teacher organizes teaching is crucial. Through internationalization projects like this we want to give teachers the opportunity to acquire more tools and perspectives through contact with colleagues in other countries. We will also give students motivation by introducing them to job opportunities and giving them greater insight into the subject they are educating within. We also want to explore how close contact with working life can help motivate students to take diplomas and how other countries organize practice in vocational subjects. The student, regardless of whether he chooses to take higher education or train for a craft certificate, is going to work in an increasingly international working life. Most subjects use production equipment and non-Norwegian programs, partners are often from abroad and the language used may be German, English or Chinese. Through this project, we want to equip teachers in both vocational and academic subjects with more tools to better meet the challenges of a future-oriented work life. Teachers who can motivate students by demonstrating how their subject field is practiced in other countries, teachers who can motivate through more forward-thinking teaching through ICT, that can empower students to master new forms of work and methods and that can guide with greater insight into what opportunities exist outside Norway's borders. We apply for job shadowing for teachers in vocational subjects and joint courses and student exchange within various program areas such as Health and Growth, Restaurant and Food Sciences and Electronics. Partnerships are from Malta, the Czech Republic, Germany and Spain. Contact with partners in Malta, MCAST, came through an existing project and all partners we have contacted are results of two contact seminars in respectively Brussels and Prague. Partner schools have wide experience with internationalization work and the different European countries have different demographics, socioeconomic status and culture that will give us interesting perspectives. Diversity will give both teachers and students an insight into how different the situation for young people in Europe is, how the school system works and knowledge of the challenges Europe is facing in terms of economic and political differences. We can offer partner schools our experience with deployment, professional knowledge in the areas relevant and how the school uses entrepreneurship as a method of training. In addition, we could show how we organize at school with collaborative time, culture for sharing methods and inclusion of employees in decision making. This is also something we will be interested in finding out from partner schools. Job shadowing and student exchange are the main activities that are applied for in this project. The activity will take place in different deployment periods both autumn and spring periodically from autumn 2018 until spring 2020. The knowledge acquired through the various activities will be shared in the organization and spread to colleagues in and outside the organization through meetings in the different departments. We are a large school with 270 educators - potential effect is thus great. Experience is also shared at county level through joint development days, but also regionally between schools in the area. Experience and knowledge will be shared on ICT platforms like Facebook and on websites, in addition to OneNote which will be used as the sharing arena. The project will also be shared in local and regional newspapers and national magazines for educators. We are constantly striving to spread our projects in various forums and also plan to make a video where the project is presented and experiences are shared. The video should be distributed regionally and nationally, on for example EPALE. In addition, it should be mentioned that the school has already been visited by the Norwegian EU delegation which is following our development work in this area. Contact with partner schools will be maintained after and between visits through Facebook, Email, Skype, ETwinning and other social platforms. Re-visits are planned from partner schools. The long-term effects of the project are increased competence of students and teachers to meet the future challenges both at work and in learning. In the long run, the goal is that the project will have a positive effect on completion and passing in all departments of our school through experience sharing and competence development between teachers and students participating in the project. Moreover, it should create a circle of positive effects in the local community in contact with business, other schools in the area and through distribution on social plattforms and in media.

In Tartu Health Care College development plan 2015-2020 internationalisation has an important place for the formation of motivated, developing and successful students and staff. Vocational education learners of Tartu Health Care College do not have stable possibilities for traineeship abroad due to College Vocational Education Department budget is limited and does not have Erasmus+ VET Mobility Charter, therefore the College is dependent on project-based funding. Currently VET learners of emergency medicine technician programme do not have any possibilities to do their traineeship abroad by taking into consideration the migration trends in Europe, more and more international collaboration skills are needed, and therefore the College sees high value in the results of this project. During the project 4 emergency medicine technician studens will do their traineeship in Germany and 4 childminder students will do their traineeship in Portugal, which will result in better foreign language skills and international team work skills of the students. Also 4 staff members will go training abroad in order to share best practises, evaluate and compare learning programmes and practice placements. The participation in mobility will help the participants to compete better in the Single European Labour Market and foster international collaboration between partner organisations. In the long run this project will help to harmonize the ECVET principles in Europe. The increase of mobilities between partners will foster international collaboration and the community will have emergency medicine technicians who have international work experience, who know how to provide help to foreign speaking citizens.

The main objective of this project was answering a rising need for intercultural competencies of ambulance service employees throughout Europe triggered by greater awareness about cultural diversity in European societies and especially by the increased influx of migrants and refugees. The on-going European integration, as well as the growing numbers of refugees and migrants, make intercultural competencies a necessity in pre-clinical emergency services. In fact, ambulance services and paramedics, as well as other medical and emergency personnel, are confronted with situations where intercultural knowledge is necessary. If intercultural competencies are lacking, emergency services are increasingly overstrained, leading to inadequate communication with patients, massive complications based on cultural/religious differences, psychosocial challenges and high stress levels on both sides, which result in avoidable complications in emergency situations. To achieve increased intercultural competencies, the consortium, consisting of vocational training institutions, organisations working with migrants, providing intercultural competencies training, IT experts and evaluation experts, developed an intercultural training course concept and framework which was translated into a blended learning approach and supporting tools, such as a Quick Reference in Action mobile APP. The App, which summarizes important information and can be used on the job to support ambulance service employees in the fulfilment of their tasks by providing easy accessible and important cultural background Information has been tested in the partner countries. The intercultural training course concept has formulated learning outcomes using ECVET criteria. The format of this training course is blended learning, consisting of an e-learning pathway and in-class-training. The blended learning training course was piloted and thoroughly evaluated to achieve a sustainable high quality output, which will be used in vocational training and further training of paramedics throughout Europe even after the project has ended. The results of the testing phase have been thoroughly evaluated. The results have been formulated in the policy recommendations to provide other stakeholders with a blueprint for intercultural competence training and the BICAS project's lessons learned and derived recommendations for the successful implementation of an intercultural competencies training. The goal of the training course is to achieve the willingness and ability to change perspective and put oneself in the place of people with migration history and different cultural identities references, putting own views into perspective and broaden social skills and abilities to work more efficiently. Gaining intercultural competencies is a process, which takes time and where the outcome is difficult to measure or to be estimated, since this is dependent on the willingness to integrate this knowledge into one’s own thinking and acting. However, through the BICAS training course and App paramedics will be enabled to competently handle difficult emergencies in an intercultural situation. Achievements of the project:- training course on intercultural competencies available in English, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish- trainer handbook for in-class-training available in English, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish- course curriculum available in English, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish- BICAS App available in English, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish- Emergency support dictionary within the BICAS App available in 11 languages- training course evaluation report available in English- App evaluation report available in English- training Course Guidelines & policy recommendations available in English, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish- implementation of intercultural competence training in initial and further education for paramedics by Johanniter Austria and Germany, and in Poland.
