"The CULTURE SHAKE project of Association of contemporary art and culture - Different Vision is a longterm EVS project, in which5 volunteers from different European countries will work in several cultural institutions in Stara Zagora. The Association will coordinate their work in general, at the same time having personal mentor of each volunteer in the institutions. Except in the regular instituions' activities, the volunteers will also take part in colaborative initiatives of the partners, as well as in cultural events, popularizing their native countries and the Erasmus + programme. The context of the project was provoked by a model of work, at whom the team of the Association was presented during an EVS training in Poland in 2013. For the first time this model of coordination will be applied in Stara Zagora. Except as a tool for creating a network metween cultural institutions and NGOs, the project serves as an inoovative and practical interpratation of the term ""culture shock"", replacing it with the more positive ""culture shake"".The volunteers themselves were chosen in line with the vision of the cultural partners, according to their skills and experience up to now, as well as taking into consideration their personal interests. The project gives big opportunities for self-development of the volunteers, with missions similar to professional practice and in the same time - support for personal expression and creativity. The methodology includes interactive methods, used in non-formal environment. Some of the key activities are:- Planning and self-evaluation - series of youth art meetings, creating personal portfolios of the participants, to be used in their Youthpass and additional certificates- Mentroship and teambuilding - individual and group session for additional support, art-therapy, group visits or participation in cultural events out of the project, etc- Cultural events, various in topic and size - organizing partnership events between the institutions, intercultural events, initialized by the volunteers, events, inspired by local youth and volunteers, etc. - Interactive internet presence of the project, dedicated to attracting youth to the activities and results The expected impact could be in the following aspects: - positive influence in fighting xenophoby among various target groups - creating fruitful and diversive cultural environment for the directly involved participants at one hand and for the local community at another - openning of the local institutions to working with youth and NGO - positive attitude towards the role of volunteersim in society"

As an organization whose primary mission is putting alternative culture in the art of music into practice, we first and foremost host 2 volunteers who wish to gain knowledge in the field of musical arts, where we can provide them with a vast knowledge base (organization of events, musical and theatrical technique light technique, promoting events, photo/video, writing reviews... ), though we also welcome volunteers who wish to learn and improve in other areas of the arts (literary, performing, visual, media etc) and youth (critical round tables, lectures, creative workshops, youth exchanges, etc.) because as an association with a broad spectrum of activity, we enable abundant and efficient flow of information and knowledge both between ourselves, as well as guest volunteers and external fellow workers. We will offer access to objective, clear information on the processes and activities of the association and knowledge base that can be obtained during the EVS project. We want clear written motives for carrying out the EVS project in our organization from the volunteers who will send the application, and specified goals regarding skills you would like to obtain, since we would like to know whether we will be able to offer a path to the realization of the goals or not. Gender, age, religion, social status, subculture, and similar irrelevant definitions, will not affect the selection of volunteers; the people working here are from very different backgrounds, and they joined the organization because they saw a possibility of acquiring certain knowledge and working in areas of interest that already existed, or developing areas within the capability and need of the organization. With the arrival of both volunteers we discuss expectations, abilities, desires and ideas. Based on mutual wishes and needs, we coordinate schedules. EVS Coordinator is responsible for their stay in the hosting country, for medical health and of course for their free time outside of the organization. Members realize how important the involvement of other participants and social activities outside the hosting organization is, so based on their wishes and interests. We will offer full support and assistance in integrating into the new environment. Our interest is that the volunteers fully meet their needs in the association and also outside of it, in a relaxed and a creative atmosphere. The coordinator is also setting tasks and coordinating the work of their learning. This is to be achieved through regular meetings, conversations about the wishes and of course, the realization of these. The role of an external mentor is not only negligible, its extremely important. The mentor is actually the volunteers? best friend, who supports them, listens and helps them with any disagreements in the hosting organization. Mutual trust is necessarily important and at the same time neutral, because in the case of a conflict between the volunteers and the association, he acts as a mediator. Mentor is also the person who assists the integration into the new environment and helping out with the wishes of any other extracurricular activities.Understanding and learning a foreign language is crucial for the volunteer to communicate in and outside of the work environment, both in everyday situations such as shopping and in case of emergency (crisis situations, such as calling the police, ambulance?). Fixed schedules are constructed every Tuesday at the meetings of the EVS Coordinator and the volunteer, for one week in advance, plus a vague two to three week schedule. When we have hosted EVS volunteers through PMM, meetings were always held in the English language. If the volunteer was directly involved in a project, the programme coordinator met with the volunteer after the meeting of the collective and explained to the volunteer the details more clearly. We have also had volunteers with minimal knowledge of English, where communication was slower, but nevertheless, we managed to arrange everything, as we gave the volunteer a sense of security, patiently trying to understand them all and, if necessary, demonstrate every move. Over time (due to exposure to the environment and a lot of practice), volunteers also upgraded their English and meetings could run smoothly. For a person to feel safe, comfortable and included in the new environment, the volunteer will initially take time to perform simple volunteer work. After a period of assimilation, the work and responsibilities will be upgraded (based on expressed interests and abilities). The meetings with the EVS Coordinator and the EVS Mentor will occur individually, whilst both the coordinator and the mentor will be in touch all the time, solving any potential problems/conflicts.

Through the “Volontaire Nomade” project, “Les Nouveaux Disparus” wanted to host a young European and involve them in every aspect of every project the organization leads. The company “Les Nouveaux Disparus” works to give access to culture, to theatre particularly, for people who don’t have access to the cultural offer. To do so, it has acquired a cartage of circus tents and trailers that makes them able to reach people and to bring together people and art. The cultural accessibility and the promotion of the cultural diversity are the main goals of our company and are developed through several projects: creating theatre plays, organizations of festivals and a sociocultural project named “La Maison des cultures Nomade(s)”. The target audience of the Company is often a disadvantaged public, coming from working class neighbourhoods, precarious and/or isolated. The Erasmus+ project was born out of the interest of involving a young European in this intercultural work. The volunteer welcomed in 2017-2018 was able to quickly integrate into the team and bring another perspective, ideas and concrete help. She has accompanied project managers in all aspects of their work: relations with artistic teams, follow-up of relations with partners in the field, relations with audiences in the places visited by the company, animation, communication... The volunteer has been very regularly with our audience and our partners. She has really been involved in the field, in direct contact with the populations affected by our projects. It was rich, both for her and for our audience. The sharing of cultures and knowledge is an objective in itself. Thus, the many meetings and workshops during the festivals between the participant and our target audience were real moments of exchange thanks to our partnerships with neighbourhood associations. The volunteer was in direct contact with the population of the cities and districts where we have set up. This has led to exchanges that promote the importance of cultural diversity and youth mobility. The management team was careful to support the volunteer throughout her year of volunteering in a dynamic, friendly and formative way. We made sure that she could develop new skills. Thanks to this project, it appears that the volunteer was able to awaken to other cultures and, conversely, transmit a little of her culture to the public. She has also been able to acquire solid socio-cultural and professional experience, which is a real advantage for her future career.

The project Connecting International and local volunteering aims at non-formal education of volunteers, mainly young people with fewer opportunities, aged 18 to 30. During their EVS, they experienced a difference in their life, gain skills through non-formal educaation, or in many cases also lead non-formal educational activities to others. This was greatly contibute to the empowerment process of the young people. We connected local and international volunteers very active way to cooperate on fulfilling of aims of the project. KERIC hosted 1 volunteer from France for 6 months, 1 from Great Britain for 12 months, 1 from Italy for 12 months We knew all our partner organisations and build on their experience in support to volunteers, especially to volunteers with fewer opportunities. During the voluntary service, the young people gained intercultural experience, raise European awareness and fight against prejudice against foreigners. The project contributed to personal and proffessional development of the volunteers with the aim to find a job in the future as well as help the people from local communities to become more open and tolerant towards foreigners, people anyhow different from them. Generally, the volunteers supported the local communinty, work with children and youth, lead educational activities, organise workshops, awareness activities, cultural and sport clubs, spread information about EVS.
