The Catering Mobility project was founded 14 years ago with the purpose of giving students the possibility to gather experience abroad after they have finished their studies. More precisely, these experiences have always been internships in the food and nutrition sector. Students from the 'kitchen and service' and the bakery and butcher programs are able to apply for these internships. The 'Chase-Network' started 22 years ago with England, France and Sweden. The Network has since expanded to include 16 partners, 13 different countries and our school has been an active member for 13 years.Every exchange runs for a period of 5 months. Students are guided and assisted by one of the partnerschools. Every country selects, sends and receives students (except Iceland, they only receive). During the first month of their stay, students get acquainted with their hosts and the country. A very thorugh language course is combined with cultural excursions, company visits and practical lessons in the hosting school. At all times during their stay, students are assisted and guided by one of the local coordinators or teachers. After the first month follows a 4 month internship in one of the companies, hotels or restaurants selected by the hosting school. During this period the students remain in close contact with their hosts and their own school. For many of them this is their first long stay abroad and the contact with a known partner works both motivating and reassuring. The very important personal contact between the schools is equally important as it allows for quick and easy communication (in case any problems arise).Beside the long term project we will start a short term project. The students themselves are the requesting party . Some of them would like to do their practical work-placement abroad during their last school-year. For this project we work together with our partner of Sweden and we have contact with 2 new partners (Germany and Denmark)The ERASMUS+ programm gives our students the opportunity to experience a working environment abroad, as well on a material, emotional, intellectual as ability level. Most of our students do not possess the financial means for these kind of programs. It is the perfect way to introduce them to an independent life as adult and a unique experience 'European Passport' will complement their diploma when they start looking for work.

We are delighted that we are now in the 30th Year of successful collaboration with the CHASE network (Consortium of Hospitality, Accommodation, Schools in Europe) Hospitality partners for long term mobilities within the catering sector. The network continues to consist of 18 partners across 15 countries continuing to develop our 5 month long term mobility in the hospitality sector. From our CHASE partner network, we have continued to develop short term mobilities on individuals for both staff and students in Italy, Sweden, Iceland, Netherlands and Finland. We have continued to strengthen our collaboration with our partners of 7 years MVV Germany and 5 years at Keskuspuisto Finland. As a result of Erasmus+ funded mobilities, we have also developed new opportunities in Spain, Austria and the Netherlands. The project was coordinated by Helsinki Culinary School Perho while Helsinki Vocational College and Lapland Tourism College were members of the Finnish Consortium. The project was carried out with the International CHASE Network, which consists of 22 hospitality and catering colleges around Europe. Most of the colleges acted both as a sending and a receiving partner. The Network has been operating for 25 years and represents a wide range of different language and cultural areas. From the gastronomic point of view, the colleges represent traditional European regional gastronomy. One of the strategic choices of the Consortium colleges is internationalization, which is put into practice for example by providing the students with opportunities for on-the-job learning abroad as well as the staff training abroad. These actions support the colleges’ vision and strengthens and promotes sustainable development such as understanding and respecting multiculturalism and diversity. The participants of the project were teachers/on-the-job learning supervisors and primary and upper secondary based students, who study a vocational qualification in the fields of restaurant, bakery or tourism. The two-year project enabled 39 student mobilities of 4-5 months and 5 mobilities of 5 weeks. 7 teachers had a 12-day training and 1 teacher a 5-week training abroad.Work placements abroad enabled different kinds of learning environments and individual learning pathways for students. The staff training focused on strengthening the language skills, international expertise and IT skills. Teachers were trained to use electronic means like Skype, which enabled for example vocational skills demonstration assessment in real-time for students abroad. All the students accomplished from 1 to 3 Vocational Skills Demonstrations. The skills and learning outcomes acquired abroad were validated and recognized as part of the qualification. The project made use of Europass Certificate Supplement, Europass CV and Europass Mobility Document.Sharing ECVET knowledge was the common theme in the CHASE network. The project aimed to develop documents/material in English such as evaluation/assessment forms based on vocational program in hotel, restaurant and catering qualification and its unit of learning outcomes. The material produced in the project describes the validation of the learning outcomes and specifies the assessment targets in on-the-job learning such as the knowledge, the skills and the competence of the student.

"The hotel school of Guyancourt holds the Erasmus Plus charter since 2007 and has signed the 2014-2020 charter. It is within this framework that we offer our first-year students of BTS Hôtellerie Restauration and BTS Responsable Hébergement to carry out theirInternship mobility (mandatory internship of 16 weeks in a company) in a hotel-catering unit located in EU. For students of BTS in charge of accommodation, European mobility is compulsory. The objectives of these mobilitiesare articulated around 3 main axes:- To deepen the professional culture in hotel-catering confronting with others European methods, procedures and organizations of the sector- To develop the communication and language skills and to acquire a professional language, in technique of production and reception in foreign language essential in the hotel industry.- On a more personal level, to encourage students' openness, to become familiar with other cultures, to gain confidence and autonomy. The number of students choosing European mobility is about half of the BTS workforce (22 mobilities in 2017) from about 18 to 21 years old. The activities carried out during these mobilities are articulated around the 3 main skills taught in our school: restaurant service, culinary production and accommodation professions (reception and service of the floors). The assignment of students in host companies is carried out according to their professional and academic skills (levellinguistic and technical) and the internship offers of our European partners. The results achieved are very positive. Students ""grow up"" professionally and academically (technical skills andlinguistic) and on a personal level. Many students testify , once integrated into the professional life,of the importance of this experience in their career and in finding the first job. Some work themselves in Europe andenrich the list of our partner companies."
