This project was started on 1.08.2019. and ended on 31.07.2019 with a duration of 12 months. The Development Strategy ""Smart Development"" of the Kurzeme Planning Region (KPR) intends to develop human resources, emphasizing creativity, innovation and flexibility in education. In order to ensure this quality, regional adult educators must become more open to international experience and learn and implement innovative approaches in the development of educational content and training organization in their professional activities. KPR implemented this project in order to facilitate the implementation of the ""Smart development"" Strategy and, with the help of a mobility of the specialist, encourage the development of innovative human resources in the region and promote openness to international experience. The goal of the project was - to support the learning mobility of the adult education specialist. The most relevant topics addressed by the project was: 1) ICT - new technologies - digital competences; 2) New innovative curricula/educational methods/development of training courses. One KPR specialist, an education expert, went on the learning mobility. The selection of the specialist was based on the fact that it is the employee who is responsible for the area of education in the region. She works with adult education institutions and practitioners in the region, organizes seminars and outlines educational developments. The host partner for the mobility was EUROPASS TEACHER ACADEMIE, which organized a 6-days training course ""The Finnish Approach: Student-Centered and Cross-Curricular Learning"" in Florence (Italy). The course selection was very successful. The quality of education in Finland is rated as very high, and Finlands experience for Latvia is innovative. The course program provided a broad insight into the organization of the study process in Finland with a student-centered approach. At the same time, there were many hands-on activities using various digital tools that contribute to an effective learning process. Participants from 7 EU countries provided an opportunity to assess the benefits and barriers of a student-centered approach from different perspectives and to understand its importance in a global context. As a result of the mobility, the participant improved her pedagogical competences by gaining an understanding of the Finnish concept of student-centered education and developing skills in working with a number of digital tools that contribute to higher teaching efficiency. The participant noted in her self-assessment as a benefit: - I have gained practical skills relevant for my current job and professional development. The result of the mobility is fully in line with expectations. The impact of the project is in the sense that the competences acquired by the mobility participant enable herr to carry out her professional activity better. Following the learning mobility, she organized and conducted 8-hour training course “Student-centered approach to adult education” for adult educators in the Kurzeme region. The course program was licensed. This will enable it to be implemented over the next 3 years. Adult education teachers in the region have begun to adopt and apply innovative learning organization principles to their students. The project participant has established international contacts, which will be useful for the organization's future projects. Involvement in the project has increased the organisation's innovation capacity and competitiveness and made it more internationally recognizable."
