The theme of healthy living and protecting the environment is also strongly linked to the priorities of the Erasmus + program. That is why we, the project partners and our young members, have jointly decided to address this issue in this project. By implementing this project, we presented the negative effects of excessive consumerism on the one hand, and the positive effects of an environmentally-friendly lifestyle on other hand, and how they can help themselves and their environment in this way.Through “ECO Lifestyle” project, project partners have enabled young participants to develop ideas and discuss options for how each individual can change their lifestyle to abandon bad habits and adopt new eco-friendly habits.Project partners acknowledge that environmentally-friendly lifestyle is of great interest to all partner organizations and countries from which partners come from, as all partners notice that our local youth and the youth in general in each country are not sufficiently aware of the importance of healthy, eco lifestyle and how they can help themselves and their environment in this way. Unfortunately, young people are too focused on consumerism and meeting their needs quickly, often in unhealthy and inappropriate ways.Partners also think that young people are very passive nowadays, and they are just waiting for someone else to find a solution and then activate them, so one of the main goals of this project was to motivate young people to be proactive and change their habits. We encouraged young people to think more about the world around them, to be able to express themselves better and to implement their ideas, as well as to improve their existing situation in their environment. Throughout the project, we have made significant contributions to improving the level of key competences and skills of young participants. We encouraged them to participate in active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity. In all this, special attention was given to young people with fewer opportunities, who we believe have benefited the most from participating in this project. The young people were involved in all phases of the project, from planning, preparation for youth exchange and implementation of youth exchange, and the phase of completion, evaluation, dissemination and use of project results. Thus, the preparation and implementation of this project was a joint work of all project partners and participants.

Youth work encompasses a broad range of activities (social, cultural, educational, sports-related and political) carried out with, by and for young people through nonformal and informal learning. Youth work provides out-of-school education, as well as leisure activities managed by professional or voluntary youth workers and youth leaders. During the Erasmus + project in Malta in 2019 some of partners met together, discussed the necessity of this project, where participants could see, discuss and exchange the good practices of youth work, to share experiences, to learn from each other and in this way to develop youth work in Programme and Partners countries. The main AIM of the project ""Reality of Youth Work"" was to present youth work in Latvia, exchange of experience with partners, improve working methods with youth from different backgrounds and strengthen cooperation of Programme and Partner countries in the field of youth. Project was for youth workers, leaders, municipality representatives from the youth departments from Programme and Partner countries. Partner countries gave the added value for the project as the youth work in Partner countries is less developed and participants learned from the best practices and used it for the development of youth work in their realities.Participants of this study visit also got a chance to build partnerships and plan new joint initiatives. Moreover, there was an opportunity to learn from the local youth initiatives, as well as to share the best practices in terms of successful youth engagement in Europe. Objectives of the study visit were following:•To learn about the reality of youth work in Latvia, Latgale region;•To support understanding of youth work realities of participating countries;•To improve working methods of organizations with youth from different backgrounds;•To learn about youth work in towns and rural area and to compare them;•To foster partnership building between organizations from Programme and Partner countries;•To explore the added value of the European dimension of youth initiatives;•To facilitate the acquisition by participants of communication, teamwork and project management skills of internationalactivities and networking;•To understand the impact and social change a youth center can have within the local community;•To increase the strategic thinking of youth workers in order to create long-term interventions for personal andprofessional development of young people.<< Implementation >>Project was for youth workers, leaders, municipality representatives from the youth departments from Programme and Partner countries. European Association ""World-Our Home"" hosted 29 participants from 12 organizations from - Azerbaijan, Jordan, Spain, Georgia, Israel, Moldova, Germany, Russian Federation, Greece, Croatia, Portugal and Latvia. Partner countries gave the added value for the project as the youth work in Partner countries is less developed and participants could learn from the best practices and use the gained knowledge for the development of youth work in their countries. Participants of this study visit also got a chance to build partnerships and to plan new joint initiatives. Moreover, there was an opportunity to learn from the local youth initiatives, as well as to share the best practices in terms of successful youth engagement in Europe. In Study Visit there were used the following non-formal education methods: the main methods were study visits to the different youth centers, meetings with young people, deputies, youth workers; interactive real-life learning experience; follow-up project development, networking, discussions and understanding of reality of youth work in Latvia, Latgale region; the acquaintance activities - the individual, couple and group tasks, which aim was to let participants to get to know each other closer - the names, interests, occupations, role in the organization, motivation to participate in the project, etc.; the ""ice breakers"" - activities in the groups which were carried out at the beginning of a project to break the ice between participants and create a positive atmosphere in the group; the team building activities which made an attractive way to join the group; brainstorming, during these activities participants generated a lot of ideas on the subject of the project; there were short activities (energizers) to give the energy to participants, especially in the morning, presentations, speeches; the intercultural evening during which every group presented their country and its culture to other national teams; as well as round-table discussions, debates, workshops, evaluations, reflection time.<< Results >>Through this project we wanted to show the participants our work with youth in Latvia and Latgale region. Youth policy in Latvia is quite developed and recognized and we wanted to share our experience and good ideas with partners from Partner and Programme countries. The project had the impact on all the target groups - project participants, partner organizations and young people with whom youth workers/participants involved in the project are working. Study Visit was organized with the aim to give participants the experience, knowledge, tools, examples how to improve the youth work, how to improve their professional and personal skills and at the same time to meet new colleagues from different countries, to learn from the good examples of youth work in Latvia, Latgale region. Project had an immediate impact on all the participants providing them with the international experience, new ideas, knowledge and skills that will help them in arranging and organizing the qualitative youth work at local and international level. Project participants got new ideas for innovations in their work from the study visit, which had impact on the participating organizations for more successful work with young people. Furthermore, all the participants were youth workers who are directly involved into youth work and youth programs in their own countries. In this way all the knowledge and experience gained in the project were shared with youth throughout their work in organizations in their native countries. So the main target groups were young people and their youth workers from European and partner countries. We saw a clear need for more cross border discussions, study visits and peer learning, especially for organizations from Partner countries, on how to work with systematic quality development in youth work. We wanted to make this project for strengthening the trust and building a real partnership at the international, national and regional levels to foster mutual respect, tolerance and understanding and learn from each other as well from our best practices. As a result of the project participants improved their competences, linked to their professional profiles such as youth work, knowledge and skills in Erasmus + programme. Participants saw the good practice in work with youth, working methods in Latvia, Latgale region and in such way every participant got a lot of practical advises and skills by the methods of non-formal education. Youth workers learned how to understand youth with fewer opportunities better and to facilitate them to their personal, social and educational development. They learned from each other and learn from the good practices in youth work. Participants recognized their own strengths and weaknesses in the work with youth. They were able to reach more young people, to understand their needs and to recognize the problems. Participants developed their management skills, creativity, got relevant knowledge, skills, experience, as well as they built a strong partnership among their organizations with the aim to work successfully together in the field of youth and in Erasmus+ programme."

The volunteers were placed for a 12 month period in the Southern Portuguese city of Olhão, where they had the opportunity to experience a totally different culture and way of living, to learn and experience new things, and to use the knowledge and experience gained in their countries so that they could act as a liaison between partner organizations. The volunteers were involved in the activities and projects developed by the Hosting Organization and were encouraged to develop and implement their own projects/ ideas. MOJU was founded on the 16th October, 2018 in Olhão. Our history is closely related with volunteering, since the Association was created and is maintained mainly by volunteers. So the volunteering spirit has always been a determinant factor to our structure. The general objective of rESCue Brigade was to promote nature and local species preservation through volunteering activities involving young people from different backgrounds. For this to be possible the specific objectives of the project were to promote international mobility of young people under environmental preservation activities, to develop youth work related to nature and animals protection, to promote international cooperation for a sustainable development and to promote the sense of initiative of young people with fewer opportunities. Additionally, the project promoted young people’s active citizenship in general and their European citizenship in particular, since living and working abroad was an important learning experience in itself for the volunteers. Also the contact with the local community allowed the discussion about the European values with persons different backgrounds and reality's, but also was a chance to promote changes in different areas and regarding different topics. In terms of specific objectives for youth under the Erasmus+, participating in rESCue Brigade helped to improve the level of skills and key skills of young people, including the disadvantaged, promoting intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity, particularly through creating opportunities for mobility for learning purposes. Complementing helped to improve the quality of youth work by strengthening the cooperation between youth organizations. In terms of priorities enabled the development of basic and transversal competences such as entrepreneurship and multilingualism, and raised awareness of European citizenship. With regard to the objectives established for the KA1 in the field of youth, contributed to raising awareness for understanding different cultures and other countries, providing the opportunity to create networks of international cooperation as well as promoted non-formal learning and cooperation between youth organizations from different countries. We intended to privilege the development of the volunteers' personal skills and create learning opportunities, both based in non-formal methods, through tutoring sessions to introduce the volunteers to the organization and to provide them with the necessary skills to carry out their tasks, with the direct contact with the community, the culture and the language. At the same time, the service of the volunteers brought a strong added-value both to MOJU and to the community in general, through the direct results of their work for and with the local youngsters and through the different points of view that they brought. We believe that the project was a very good way of developing solidarity and promote tolerance among young people, in particular in order to foster social cohesion in the European Union, because the volunteers had the opportunity to work directly with the community. Also, working with the community was a very good way of developing sensibility for the difficulties that others may have. By the other hand, the youngsters involved in the activities had the opportunity of get in contact with people from different countries what was certainly be a great motivational factor for them.

All partners noticed limits of the extent to which young women and LGBTQ+ people are able to participate in society. Significant barriers to full and equal participation exist in they everyday life, education, employment, and political and public decision-making. In our societies homophobic and transphobic attitudes are common and LGBT people are often bullied in schools, discriminated against in the workplace, and invisible in public and political decision making. They are also be portrayed as harmful to national identity, the family, or religion by media or leaders. But youth workers/leaders in partner organizations also noticed the similar behavior of young people in their local communities, that most of them are very passive, they do not participate in the creation of activities, they are just consuming them. They lack of self-confidence about their competencies; they are afraid to go out of their comfort zone (physical and mental), they are facing exclusion, and are facing a lack of opportunities (economic, social, and geographical obstacles). Apathy explains why young people do not participate in the creation of programs and lack of their participation in democratic and political life. Some young people find it difficult to mix with people who they deem to be different from them; it is attributed to the mismatch in the attitudes, values, and culture. What we want to prevent is generalizing negative attitudes toward gender differences. Their behavior is characterized by fear of gender difference, and at the same time in the ""not-comfort"" zone, to do something new, to fight their own prejudices. With this project, we aim to empower youngsters to be responsible, active citizens with critical and supportive behavior at the local and international levels. Objectives are:1. To empower young people with fewer opportunities from passive behavior to active participation by being engaged in gender equality issues2. To develop competences through analyzing and discussing the topics of gender identity and gender expression from local to European levels while challenging discriminatory attitudes towards women or LGBTQ+ people3. To experience multi-culturalism through meeting and working with youngsters coming from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.4. To discover new approaches in non-formal learning influencing youth participation, including e-participation.5. To become aware of the European community and to use opportunities of the Erasmus + program as a tool for the development of the culture of youth participation on gender issues.Youth-work setting inside the youth exchange will provide a unique and crucial safe space for young men and women to discuss and share their thoughts and experiences on gender and sexuality. Inside this project, we want to provide supportive, positive environments for young people and opportunities to develop their capacities.<< Implementation >>Udruzenje Svetlost is the host organization of the youth exchanges in Strazilovo/Sabac, Serbia from June 30th until July 7th 2022 (travel dates excluded) . The partners are coming from Portugal Croatia, Spain, Bulgaria, and Serbia. It is planned to have 31 participants (6 participants per country – 5 young people, including those with fewer opportunities, mainly between 16 and 23 years old and 1 youth leader; and 1 more facilitator from the host organization)Profile: young people, including those with fewer opportunities who are, are very passive, they are facing a lack of opportunities (economic, social, educational, and geographical obstacles). Some of them live in poverty, some never go abroad, some of them have low skills, some left school, some from rural areas or from isolated communities. All partnersalready have a group of young people facing different obstacles with low skills levels, for example, verbal skills and public speaking, and with negative social attitudes and stereotyping. Some young people engaged in all partner organizations are discriminated based on sex, gender identity and sexual orientation and that is widespread across all partner countries. Partners already have groups of young people that will participate on youth exchange. We believe that around 90% of this group will stay the same and some participants will be replaced if they do not want to go anymore for any reason. This application is prepared in the line with topics and tools selected by young people we are working with and they also contributed to the writing of the program and some elements from the application related to dissemination, impact, and follow-up. Youth leaders from each country will discuss more: the topics and tools with young people before YE; such as meeting other cultures issues; insurance; safety; language and they will organize preparatory work of the group of young people.Preparatory work will consist of the preparation for the session Creative Show – youngsters, in their national teams, will have tasks to explore and to write about stereotypes, prejudges, gender roles in families, at work, in their society… and during the Youth Exchange, they will have opportunity to give this paperwork to some other partner country, and that country will present it to all other participants in a creative way. Youngsters and organizations will be engaged in the dissemination phase to spread the voice about through promotion in traditional and social media, will organize workshops/presentations/etc related to the topic in the local communities, share the results within interested parties, cooperate with schools, etc.<< Results >>Learning outcomes:• develop an understanding of youth empowerment and gender identities and expressions• follow using gender-neutral language to provide a more inclusive space for all gender identities• understand the importance of privacy and fight against discrimination and prejudices related to different gender identities• understand the consequences of marginalization and youth without power behavior• understand how to be active in the local community and how to promote and protect human rights • learning new words/phrases in different languages• improving English language (working language on YE is English)• developing digital skills while preparing sessions since they will use different programmes like PowerPoint and Prezi, Kinemaster, etc, as well as basic Internet tools• raising awareness of different cultures and people habits• adopting behavior of working in a multicultural environment• understand the importance of non-formal education and peer to peer support and help• learn how to think critically and identify risks• learn how to take individual and collective responsibility for the safety of different genders• to be able to implement, where appropriate, reduction strategies for fighting gender and other ways of discrimination for other youth workers, volunteers and youth in their communities. The project perfectly fits the principle of the lifelong learning program since it focuses on the improvement of various skills such as teamwork, cooperation, intercultural competences, and attitudes such as active participation and tolerance. Through the implemented activities participants are also invited to acquired knowledge in a non-formal way on global education, human rights, different cultures, European Union. Our project teaches the participants for tolerance since it requires social inclusion: it allows equal opportunities for everyone regardless of sex, age, or economical status or other differences. The participants with different backgrounds will meet each other, work together and help each other. Through the cooperation, they break down the walls built up by society and prejudices which will help them to become more tolerant and to spread their ideas and promote gender equality in their home community as well. In a free working environment, the participants will learn spontaneously and in this way improve their interaction skills in all-day life and in the working environments as well."
