"<< Objectives >>Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities project is a Youth Exchange (KA-152) project, which is planned to continue for 8 months in total, including planning, preparation, implementation and follow-up activities, under the coordination of Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities. It is accepted that individuals, groups and societies have legal rights and freedoms at the global democratic level. These rights and freedoms, like fundamental rights, human rights, civil rights, and active status rights, are regulated in-laws that directly concern individuals and link life with the society in which they live. Ensuring fundamental rights are the basic elements of a liberal democratic order. The loyalty of individuals and groups to their societies and states is directly related to the way the relevant legal rights are enforced and to the active participation of individuals/groups. According to the ""12 Principles of Good Democratic Governance"" document created by the Council of Europe Center of Expertise for Local Government Reform, all individuals, including disadvantaged and less privileged segments, should be heard and considered in the decision-making processes. As mentioned in the relevant document, concepts such as participation, representation and fair rights in elections are seen as phenomena that should also exist for minority groups in European communities. Minority groups are unable to be active in the society due to various reasons such as social exclusion, being different, xenophobia, discrimination, and language barriers. It is believed that the social inclusion of minority groups can only be achieved if they have equal and fair rights and opportunities with people from other segments of society. The target group of this project is the young people between the ages of 18-30 living in Europe, who are among the minority groups. The problem that the project deals with is social exclusion and insufficient social participation compared to the general society, due to the fact that minority youth are not aware of their human rights, their rights in the society they live in and minority rights. For this reason, a structured training program with non-formal training techniques will be carried out on the basis of human rights and justice for the project target audience. In accordance with the Framework Convention on the Protection of National Minorities signed between the member states of the Council of Europe on 1 February 1995, it was assessed that a pluralistic and genuine democratic society requires the respect of the ethnic, cultural, linguistic and religious identity of the national minority to which each person is a member, as well as the creation of favorable conditions that allow them to express, reserve and develop these identities. In this context, it is seen as an important issue for minority youth to know their rights, to engage in rights-based advocacy studies and for social integration. The goals of the Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities project are:●To increase the knowledge and awareness of young people from minority groups on human rights and justice issues,●Ensuring that minority young people gain social identity by knowing their rights, ●Ensuring the social inclusion of minority youth,●Increase the ability of minority youth to deal with xenophobia and discrimination, both personally and as a group.●Developing advocacy skills in the trainings that minority youth will receive through non-formal education techniques,●To increase the level of knowledge and skills in basic documents such as the European Union Declaration of Fundamental Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Framework Convention on the Protection of National Minorities,●Ensuring that participants are informed about Erasmus+ and EU Youth Programmes.<< Implementation >>Within the scope of the project, a 5-day youth exchange will be carried out in February 2023. The activity includes the Human Rights Education Program for young people selected from minority groups. In total, 54 people from 6 countries are expected to participate in the exchange activity. The target audience of the project is minority young people between the ages of 18 and 29 who are among the project partners countries.<< Results >>As a result of our project, it is envisaged that the knowledge of minority youth in human rights and justice issues will increase. In this context, we expect that minority youth will have more social inclusion and that their ability to cope with xenophobia both as a group and individually will increase. Young people's learning of non-formal education techniques and developing their advocacy skills are also among the biggest impacts of the project."
