The relations with Tunisia were concretized by the welcoming of 132 Tunisian students, doctoral students and academic staff between 2008 and 2017. These exchanges were reinforced by the signing of a framework agreement for cooperation in the fields of science and technology in 2014 with Tunis El Manar University. The project is a continuation of our collaboration with the country and more particularly with the UTM, Tunis El Manar University and ENIT, the National School of Engineers of Tunis; in a common strategy for sustaining exchanges and cooperation.A total of 20 participants benefited from Erasmus + MIC funding (11 staff and 9 doctoral students). The majority of beneficiaries come from the partner country (65%).In addition to sustaining the exchanges initiated under the Erasmus Mundus program, the objectives of the project were:- Strengthen the visibility of the UM abroad;- Provide financial support for mobility outside Europe;- Set up new projects;- Develop scientific cooperation. The results obtained during the project are very satisfactory and confirm the interest of Tunisian students for France. In addition, they have resulted in the following:• Strengthening scientific cooperationThrough doctoral mobility, collaboration between laboratories has intensified in the field of robotics, didactics, languages, international relations. The quality of the PhD students received is a pledge of considerable confidence for future mobilities or joint tutoring.• Sustainability and consolidation of existing partnershipsStaff mobility strengthened our bonds with partner institutions and had a strong impact on scientific and academic cooperation. The signing of the interinstitutional agreements set new objectives and in particular made it possible to work on common tools to bring more credit mobility recognition.

The main objective of the E+ICM project is to assure sustainability with the former partners of Azerbaijan, South Africa and Georgia. Indeed, the selection of partner institutions is first based on the quality of existing agreements and exchanges as well as on the creation of new partnerships in the field of research, innovation and training. Number and profile of participants27 mobilities have been organised in total: 15 staffs, 6 on PhD level and 6 for Master's degree. The participants mainly belong to partner countries (58%) and in terms of distribution by country, South Africa is the top one with 17 scholarships; it is followed by Azerbaijan and Georgia, with 5 scholarships each. The strategy of the E+ICM project was also to: - Create new partnerships- Reinforce the international visibility of UM- Financially support the mobility towards countries outside Europe- Set up new projects- Develop new scientific cooperationsResults and impactsThe results obtained within the lifetime of the project are very satisfying and facilitate the emergence of new scientific and academic projects. •Development of new partnershipsThanks to the project, the researchers of UM had the opportunity to formalize the scientific cooperation with some of the partners. Thus, agreements had been made between 5 laboratories/departments of UM through the mobilities in PhD level (Faculty of Sciences, IUT of Montpellier, Chemistry department, Marcoule Institute and joint reseach unit Qualisud) with the University of Johannesburg, the Universtity of Stellenbosh and the Central University of Technology (South Africa).•Development of international mobilityThe impact of the project at UM on the international mobility is important as 11 people had the opportunity to be on an exchange with new partners and countries with a European financial support. •Strengthening of established partnerships The staff mobility has reinforced our links with partner institutions and it has had a significant impact on academic and scientific cooperations (constructive discussions, creation of new common projects, recognition of teachings, double-degree projects etc.). The signature of inter-institutional agreements settled new objectives and allowed the participants to work on common tools in order to bring more recognition to credit mobility.Long-term benefitsBesides the raise of international influence and the creation of new collaborations, the University of Montpellier truly ensures its expertise in the management of international mobility projects. Thanks to its past experiences in the management of Erasmus Mundus programmes, the UM and particularly the International Relation Office confirmed its competences in the coordination of mobility projects, and it will help the institution for the projects to come.

The International Relations Office is composed of 25 people. Each faculty of the university also has its own International Relations office which supports students during their mobility (outgoing and incoming). These offices implement the international policies of the university, in accordance with thevice-president for International affairs. The University of Montpellier has participatedin this program since the very beginning. The objectives of the project are to promote outgoing inter-European mobilities, all the while assisting the participants of the project. At the International Relations Office (centralised office), 4 people are in charge ofoutgoing mobilities, they are joined by 3 people dedicated specifically to the payment of grants. Added to this are the staff at the international relations office of the 8 faculties, 6 institutes and 1 school (at least one officer per faculty is in charge of the management of mobilities). With an execution rate of 92,5%, the program is a success amongst our target audience (mainly students, but also professors and administrative staff). The support that students are given and the quality of the follow up, allows us to reinforce institutional ties with our partners within the program. The project developed by UM follows the actions of former Erasmus Mundus program and aims at strengthening partnerships with South Africa, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Jordan and Lebanon. The selection of our partners relies on former cooperation and existing relations, but also on the creation of new partnerships in terms of research, formation and innovation. Number/ Profile of participantsIn total, 46 mobilities were carried out during the project (25 staff, 12 PhDs, 3 Masters and 6 Undergraduate students). Most of the participants came from partner countries (63%). Country-wise, the number of mobilities with South African partners was the highest (19 mobilities), then came Lebanon (13 mobilities), Azerbaijan (7 mobilies), Jordan (4 mobilities) and Morocco (3 mobilities). ObjectiveIn addition to ensuring the sustainability of exchanges established through the Erasmus Mundus program, the project also aimed at: -Creating new partnerships;-Increasing international visibility of UM;-Providing financial support to non-European mobility;-Building new projects;-Developing scientific cooperation. Results / Impact The results of the project over the last 2 years (2015-2017) are truly encouraging and have allowed UM to implement new scientific and academic projects.1-Obtention of ERASMUS + KA2 Project ( Capacity Building) ies with South African partners ( CUT/CPUT) led to the writing of a capacity building project between 2015 and 2017, on the internationalization of PhD studies ( YEBO! ; project number 585697-EPP-1-2017-1-FR-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP). In August 2017, this project received a co-funding of 939 755 EUR from EACEA; it will start on the 15th of October 2018 for a duration of 3 years. 2-Integration of new partnersThe teachers/researchers of UM used the project to formalize their scientific cooperation with partners. As a result, 3 partners were added to the project: The University of Johannesburg (UJ), the Central University of Technology (CUT) in South Africa and the American University of Science and Technology (AUST) in Lebanon.3-Development of International mobilityThe project had a strong impact on international mobility at UM; 9 members of the University got the opportunity to travel in new partner countries thanks to European funding. 4-Sustainability and consolidation of existing partnershipsThe mobility of staff members strengthened our relations with partner institutions and had a significant impact on scientific and academic cooperation (constructive collaborations, development of new joint projects, recognition of training offer, projects for double diplomas, etc.) New goals for collaboration were set following the signature of inter-institutional agreements. This also allowed partners to work on common tools to develop the recognition of credit mobility.
