One of the main obstacles to the full achievement of this ambitious objective is that there are high rates of low-skilled and low-qualified adults that competitive within the labor market. The demand for digital technology professionals has grown by 4% annually in the last ten years. Yet digital skills are lacking in Europe at all levels. "CONTEXTThe Europe 2020 Strategy has defined among others, one key priority that is to raise ""Europe’s employment rate – more and better jobs, especially for women, young people and older workers"" so to achieve a benchmarkl of "" 75% employment rate for women and men aged 20-64 by 2020– achieved by getting more people into work. The achievement of this important goal, that has important implication for the more general objectives of at least 4 of the five headline targets that have been set for the EU to achieve by the end of 2020 as employment; research and development; education; social inclusion and poverty reduction, is threatened by the economic crisis and the consequent loss of job opportunities that in many countries lead the unemployment rates to achieve ""record"" percentages.Older workers are more exposed to unemployment and exclusion from good careers opportunities, with rates that often reach 35% and more in European Countries and due to the economical crisis and low qualification.Within this context the partners of this project have explored these issues and have identified solutions to help older people to be inserted in the labor market establishing effective links between adult schools and the world of work. Mentors are offering support, advice an information related on the project issues to the other adult learners using the ""social mentor office"".The project is using Mentoring interpairs like a methodology of shared learning and growth citizens (Internet, first-class citizens), and the rest of people who, due to their lack of knowledge or domain in relation to the use of web social media tools, are considered as the new digital illiterates of the 21st century. The use of Social media and ICT is not widespread among adults, they have learned how to use social media to socialize, communicate and searching job opportunities. Social Media and Internet are now very often used by the companies for selecting in an effective way their future employees.Adult learners have learned how to create and preserve their digital identity where they keep on their competences, language knowledge, etc. to become an optimal candidate to be reincorporated in labour market in the most rapid an efficient way.AIMThe aim of the project has been to promote employment for long term unemployed adult people, through an effective use of social media , ICT and through the training of 10 adult learners in each participant country that are called “ social digital mentors”ACTIVITIES-Learning community-Social mentors training package-Workshops with adult teachers-Training the ""Social digital mentors""-Barcamps with personal recruitment managers of companies.-Social Online Mentors office-Conference about “social digital mentors” CONSORTIUMThe project has involved 7 institutions of 5 different European countries. "The suburbs, more than big cities, need to get in touch with the world and the opportunities at European level that often struggle to enter the peripheral areas. Even more, young people living in the periphery areas of the city of Bologna are often distant from the big centers and flee to seek other incentive, increasingly impoverishing those territories. SuburBANG! aims to give a shake, to show how much a provincial territory can give its young people, especially with fewer opportunities, without them looking forward to leaving or finishing in some unhelpful lap. And young people directly involved will only be able to get stronger, aware of their potential, developed or discovered through volunteering and social inclusion. Starting from this main goal, SuburBANG! wants: - Promoting intercultural volunteering activities aimed at non-formal learning of specific knowledge and skills and growth as active individuals - Contribute to the promotion of solidarity, critical thinking and social inclusion of disadvantaged people, maturing multi-faceted skills in relationships with them - Contribute to creating a chain effect in local youths, thus promoting alternative paths and personal paths, which can then be a benefit to the entire community - Make a tangible sign of the importance of these actions, involving stakeholders and other local associations, so that there is greater recognition and listening to the needs of young people, especially those with less opportunities The project envisages the involvement of young people, even with lesser opportunities, and allows them to make significant and well-preserved experience abroad enabling them to acquire skills and knowledge important for their future by means of an active and non-formal learning methodology, whose planned and shared results will be visible and promoted at various levels and accessible to anyone interested in implementing or learning similar experiences and activities, thus reflecting the objectives of the Erasmus+ program. Six volunteers will be involved from Spain, Germany, France, Portugal, Greece, Romania. Half of these represents economic, cultural and geographic difficulties. In general, according to the target group with which each SO operates, young people will decide to spend one year of EVS because they want to make new valuable experiences, for example, escaping from a difficult situation, unemployment or more simply to have a gap year that allows them to reflect on their future, while making something important and significant for their growth, in the meantime. SuburBANG! consists of 6 Volunteering Projects in hosting projects at the Municipality of Anzola-Centro Giovani, Municipality of Budrio-Teatro Consorziale, Association ""La Strada"", all active in the Metropolitan area of Bologna, with which YouNet has been working for a long time and has supported the accreditation as RO. At Comune di Anzola, volunteers will be able to understand closely how youth policies work in a small reality, and how they are implemented to avoid juvenile discomfort, particularly among adolescents, who are, in that context, the most vulnerable group . At the municipality of Budrio, the volunteers will cooperate with the Culture Department of the Municipality for the promotion of art in its various forms and to bring young people, especially with fewer possibilities, to this dimension, which can also be a means of expressing their own needs. With ""La Strada"" association, they will be able to operate in a territory that presents various difficulties from the point of view of integration and opportunities for young people, especially those at risk of deviance. They will work in the area of youth and adult discomfort in close contact with some institutions trying to give concrete alternatives. The project in its entirety will have a strong impact on volunteers, RO, SO. But also, associated partners, hosting and original communities. Looking to the future, it is hoped that we will continue to work with SuburBANG! partners, to adopt and implement the results and using them in different contexts. There is also the hope of a bigger recognition of the learning experience and competenses through volunteering and non formal education."
