The nationwide lockdowns due to the spread of COVID-19 have forced most of nations to stop their economy, and this has critically affected organizations economic and technological structure. These implications require more than ever the need for resilience in both business and society. In this context, it has proven essential the need for a company to avoid, within the limits imposed by lockdowns, the interruption of the supply of its products or services: it is therefore necessary to integrate the outdated and often ineffective risk management programs through the development of more resilient business procedures. Business Continuity (BC), which is the subject of the following proposal, perfectly sums up this modern industrial need: ""the ability of an organization to continue to deliver products or services at predefined acceptable levels following an incident"" (ISO 22300:2012). BC is a subject still little known in the professional field: this type of education and awareness are key competences, as they uphold the highest standards and the latest innovations in the industry. Moreover, they are helpful to the highest levels of any organization, who will be able to build a resilience culture across their workforce. The need for higher awareness on the subject derives from the increasing necessity from organizations to be more resilient. Most organizations showed a poor display in terms of preparedness to the pandemic, with many lacking crisis management and BC Management arrangements (Sheffi, Y. Responses to Coronavirus Part Two– Gaps in Our Defenses, 2020; BCI Organizational Preparedness Report, 2020). Therefore, according to further researchby the Business Continuity Institute, out of nearly 300 organizations, 90% stated they believe they will be getting increased support for their BC function (The Future of Business Continuity and Resilience Report, 2020). A benchmarking study on business threats highlighted that the number of organizations certifying against ISO22301 has been growing throughout the years, amounting to one in five organizations in 2019 (BCI Horizon Scan Report, 2020). Moreover, inter-sectorial brainstorming meetings were carried out to identify further gaps in the sector: the result was the identification of the need of appropriate tools to increase competences in education and lifelong learning within the BC.<< Objectives >>The general objective of CONTINUITY is therefore to create an appropriate VET, horizontal to all sectors and independent from the geographical and political context, intrinsically transnational, able to train the BC Manager as a professional figure with an in-depth knowledge of BC issues and related governance frameworks, best-practices and protocols. The specific objectives are: oPromote cooperation between EU organisations and training providers within the BC environment, to create a network for the development of mobility, education or innovation projects in this field oLearning about local or international education, and develop BC management programmes focused on the acquisition of new professional skills and competences through the combination of informal and non-formal methods and the use of ICT oImprove the quality and relevance of training provision by developing new innovative approaches and disseminating these competencies best practices oPromote provision and assessment of key competences for those responsible for BC, including basic and transversal skills such as project management and European funding programmes<< Implementation >>The structure of the project has been planned in such a way as to ensure a clear and logical link between all activities within the Results, guaranteeing the achievement of the set objectives in a timely and economical manner and with high quality standards. Moreover, although it is promoted by a heterogeneous and experienced consortium, which will involve other stakeholders from the beginning, the Results will be developed with and for end users. The global structure of CONTINUITY is constituted of 4 Results, defined in a series of support actions to ensure the achievement of the general objective of the project: the creation of an appropriate VET, horizontal to all sectors and independent from the geographical and political context, intrinsically transnational, able to train the BC Manager, as a professional figure able to have an in-depth knowledge of BC issues and related governance frameworks, best-practices and protocols and operational risk management. R1, Preliminary Evaluation – Blueprint, is the first and fundamental step of the proposal: this step will in fact lay the foundations and indicate the direction for the creation of the rest of the Result through a mapping of the general framework, in addition to the creation of a baseline for the final impact assessment. R2 will instead be carried out in parallel: this Result will lay out the first versions of the contents of the Online Training Platform, the practice, the Workshops and the technical interface will be created: here will be developed the contents that will feed the achievement of the first 3 specific objectives mentioned above (Promote cooperation between EU organisations and training providers within the BC environment, Learning about local or international education and process continuity management support programmes and improve the quality and relevance of training provision by developing new innovative approaches and disseminating ""best practices"" of these competences) R3.4 macro-phase, instead, as testing phases, will contribute to the achievement of the fourth specific objective: promote provision and assessment of key competences for those responsible for BC, including basic and transversal skills such as project management and European funding programmes. The above steps, together with the remaining activities of content and impact review, will ensure that the Result of the project creates the results mentioned in the other sections. The multiplier events will have the task of disseminating the knowledge and results of this project, as well as activating the ""ignition"" for the sought-after replication effects. Another fundamental activity of this project is the Transantional Training Course for Coach - C1, which will feed the achievement of the priority VET: Developing partnerships aimed at promoting work-based learning in all its forms. One of the key innovative components of the CONTINUITY project refers to the participatory and collaborative methodological approach in which not only the consortium, but also the project activities and results are/will be built. An experienced and very dynamic partnership reflects and inspires new, consolidated and sustainable links, schemes and cooperation actions among the key actors of the CONTINUITY ecosystem, encouraging the creation of a wide and varied network, which will surgically capture the specific needs of the target groups to which this project is addressed.<< Results >>In addition to the Results of CONTINUITY and the impact on its target group, other tangible results will be obtained during the implementation: oWebsite: in addition to the Online Training Platform and its versions linguistic, the project will also offer a website open to all those who wish to learn more. It will contain: -Project and calendar -Partner associations - Erasmus+ and VET opportunities -Direct access to the online learning tool -Visibility of materials -Links to social networks-Forums and chats -Logos of Erasmus+ and partners oDissemination: it will be implemented at national and transnational level by all partners. It will include press notes and materials, online sites, social networks, info packs, etc., which will be designed around the project image and logo to be created during the preparation period. These materials will help to identify the project results and link them with CONTINUITY, the entities involved and the Erasmus+ programme; oCOVID-19 Meeting Plan: UNIVPM (IT) will draft it for both web and physical meetings, to increase accessibility and inclusion by reducing barriers to participation. For details, please see the “How will you support these participants so that they will fully engage in the planned activities?” section. oMinutes of the transnational meeting: they will be drafted in order to track the work done, record the participants, transcribe the completed agreements and the common agenda defined. They will be used to resolvemisunderstandings and to update the remaining members (who did not attend) on what has been done; oModels and justification materials: budget calculation, payment and time sheets, evaluation forms, attendance lists and certificates, etc., created by UNIVPM (IT) in accordance with the Erasmus+ guidelines and the requirements of the Italian National Programme Agency. These documents will be distributed to monitor, manage and justify the project; oLearning Certificate: it has been designed to recognize the competences and skills acquired by those who will have successfully completed thetraining process offered through the Platform, local Workshops and coaching service (R3.4). It will contain the personal data of the participants, the hours of training, the content, the partners, information about the project and the Erasmus+ programme, the location of the activities, etc; oCONTINUITY quality label: it will be given to the companies and bodies of those who have received the learning certificate. Its format will allow beneficiaries to use it on their companies' websites and products and services, increasing the visibility of the project; oGuide for Coach as result of the Transnational Training Course for Coach (C1) that will be used to enable professionals to support the testers of the CONTINUITY Platform. All activities, methodologies, contents, practices and peer learning transferred during this transnational mobility will be written in a pdf guide that will be published after the event. These materials will be used by the Coach involved in the results test (R3.4.3) and as a resource for others who, even if they could not have the possibility to participate, might be interested in being trained as support staff of the learning platform; oWorkshop Toolkit: it will be one of the C1 outcomes provided to those responsible for the implementation of the local project workshops (R3.4.2) in each country. Created under the responsibility of UPV (ES) this product will contain guidelines, materials, methodologies and advice for those facilitators who will take care of the implementation of these training group sessions at local level. These materials will be uploaded to the website and the Platform to ensure that those who can aim to transfer project results to their communities and countries can do so effectively. The results related to the use of the project's Results (Coach's Guide, Workshop Toolkit) will also be translated at the end of CONTINUITY into the project languages (R3.6)"

Circular Economy (CE) has been identified as one of the key priorities that requires attention and actions for all organisations, regardless their size. In comparison to larger corporations, SMEs have smaller capacity and less availability of knowledge and financial resources. This makes it more difficult for them to change their operations, product design, or the sourcing of raw materials. Consequently, since SMEs & micro-enterprises represent the dominant form of business organization in Europe (around 99%), the transition to a green economy without their participation could hardly be achieved. The REFRAME project will create a CE Transition Framework specifically for small and medium businesses in construction, manufacturing and crafts industry, to help them become friendlier to the environment. It will provide the EU construction & manufacturing SMEs and micro-enterprises’ employees and future employees with practical knowledge on implementing CE transition in their business. A ‘sizable, growing and active’ REFRAME on-line community will be created, with main objective the Up-to-date insight in Circular Economy, the exchange of know-how and good practices among the participants and the successful implementation of a CE transition for all SMEs and mixro-enterprises.Under the REFRAME, there will be developed:1) an Interactive Self-Rate Tool (IO1) for effectively assessing the current status of a company in relation to Circular Economy (CE) principles and strategies.2) a Circular Economy Course (IO2) that it will provide a curriculum adopted to the needs of construction and manufacturing SMEs and micro-enterprises3) an Implementation Framework (IO3) that will provide a systematic methodology for the target groups to implement a successful and advantageous CE transition4) the REFRAME iLearn Tool (IO4), which will be an Open Educational Resource and will include all the above. The target-groups of the project are divided into main and secondary.Main target-groups:1) Construction, crafts and manufacturing SMEs’ owners/managers/personnel with up to 100 employees & micro-enterprises2) (future) employees of manufacturing SMEs (Unskilled, Adept, Skilled)3) VET centres/trainers/consultants4) experts that support companies with CE processes (internally or externally)Other target-groups (secondary):manufacturing SMEs associations, university/college students, municipalities and cities The target groups and the participants will be involved at every stage of the project implementation in order to assure that their needs are always adequately and fully addressed, since they will benefit directly from the project outcomes. The REFRAME partnership is composed by 6 partners from 5 EU countries, Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Bulgaria and Hungary. They will all give an added value to the transfer of the project's products, thanks to their experience in Circular Economy, the Environment protection, in training sector, in digital technologies and in international cooperation.

Being able to manage risks is a life or death criterion for every enterprise. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) require a practical approach for acquiring necessary knowledge in the area of risk management and for applying this knowledge in a cost-effective way as directly and quickly as possible. It is to this end that the CASSANDR approach has been developed. It offers professional support to fundamentally improve the resilience of SMEs against risks and threats. The CASSANDRA approach includes a ‘Quick Check Tool’, a ‘Guide’ and an ‘Online Course’ on business resilience. These 3 products are available free online and are simply structured, practical, intelligibly written and tailored to the specific needs of SMEs.All the CASSANDRA products are available here in English, German, Italian, Greek and Czech: www.cassandra-resilience.eu.The CASSANDRA approach was created by the CASSANDRA strategic partnership comprised of 6 project partners: emcra GmbH (Germany, lead partner), Tournis Consulting (Greece), the Cyprus Project Management Society, T-SOFT (Czech Republic), the Regional Association of Craftmanship of the Italian region of South Tyrol (Landesverbands der Handwerker Bozen) and the German Institute of Business Consulting, Business Development and Business Research (IBWF). The partnership has a balanced mix of partners who are competent in business resilience and/or who represent the users (SMEs) and/or who are experienced in education and IT products. Without considering their roles in the project, they all share the common vision of making business resilience disciplines known, accessible and affordable for virtually all SMEs in the business services sector across Europe. What is business resilience and why is it necessary?Business resilience is an overarching term for 3 disciplines formalised by international standards: risk management (ISO 31000), business continuity (ISO 22301) and information security (ISO/IEC 27001). Business Resilience can be defined as the ability to absorb the impact of an interruption, disruption or loss to business and continue to provide an acceptable level of service. This ability is not obtained by chance, rather it is the observable result of proactive planning. Unfortunately, SMEs - and especially micro-sized enterprises - suffer from a lack of awareness, skills and knowledge about these disciplines and their staff have very little time to invest in reading complex guidelines or completing long training courses! Despite this, business resilience is fundamental to the survival of any enterprise. In Europe, only 44% of all enterprises survive more than five years according to Eurostat business demographic statistics. A ""lack of planning"" has been identified as one of the top reasons for business failure. How are risk management and business continuity related?‘Risks' are probabilities of events that may have specific impacts which, if realised, could severely or lethally damage the capability of SMEs to operate, provide their services and products to their clients or protect the interests of their stakeholders. Identifying, understanding and dealing with these risks by deploying appropriate measures and thereby minimising the probability or impact of them occurring is called ‘risk management’. However, deploying specific measures to mitigate risks may not always prevent negative incidents. In such a case, SMEs need a strong ‘Business Continuity Plan’; a plan which details how they would respond to and manage a risk or threat if it were to become a reality. Only 30% of small and medium-sized enterprises have such plan in place.Through its ‘Quick Check Tool’, ‘Guide’ and ‘Online Course’, the CASSANDRA approach has helped SME managers, executives and other employees to raise the business resilience of their companies during this project's implementation. More than 100 people have already tested the beta versions of the 3 CASSANDRA outputs. The ‘Guide’ and ‘Online Course’ have been praised for their clarity, thoroughness, practicality and usefulness; the ‘Quick Check Tool’ for its user-friendliness.Following the project's completion, the CASSANDRA approach will be promoted and disseminated to about 50,000 SME managers, executives and other employees from the business services sector in Europe. Once these individuals have become knowledgeable, skilled and competent with regards to business resilience, they will be able to develop and deploy new or improved risk management strategies and continuity plans for their enterprises. The long-term benefits for these enterprises include the avoidance of identified risks, or if this is not the case, a reduction in their probability and/or impact, meaning that SMEs will be better prepared to face crises and disruptions. Once these SMEs have become more resilient to incidents and disruptions, they will be more sustainable and competitive."
