In priority neighborhoods, many organisations are working on these issues and progressing along the inhabitants, but most often these efforts are one-off actions affecting a small number of people. The ecological issue in the broad sense seems difficult to tackle with audiences whose priority is obviously socio-economic.The transition is often seen as a matter of engineers, industrial innovations and relationships. However, calibrated and formal speeches are not enough to bring about a socio-cultural evolution. We absolutely need to explore new paths, to enchant the ecological transition, to build new stories by involving all inhabitants in their cultural and social diversity.<< Objectives >>We wish to adapt a methodology for narrating transitions, specifically adapted to the constraints of priority neighborhoods. This project should enable all residents and stakeholders in those neighborhoods, in Europe and around the world, to rely on tools developed, adapted and tested thanks to a partnership between 4 countries, France, Italy, Spain. and Portugal. We want to be at the service of those who are the most exposed, so that they can find ways, collectively, to organize their resilience in the face of climate and environmental emergencies. This project is intended to promote the inclusion of all audiences on the issues of ecological transition, by equipping the educators and trainers who work with them on a daily basis. The choice of the ""storytelling tool"" is a way to address all residents in all their cultural and social diversity to invite the broadest participation without specific preconditions. Our project is aimed directly at adults who, themselves, are involved in adult education in the neighborhoods. One of the main objectives is to increase their skills and participate in the co-construction of results. Our project aims to accelerate the ecological transition in priority neighborhoods of the European Union and contribute to the sustainable improvement of the living conditions of vulnerable populations.<< Implementation >>The project consists of two main phases. The first is a study phase, which will lead to a better understanding of the relationship that inhabitants of priority neighbourhoods have with the challenges of ecological transition. This is a sociological survey, conducted in conjunction with stakeholders and residents, that will be carried out in Italy, Spain and France. This cross-survey should highlight the levers and brakes that characterize these territories, whatever the country, to accelerate the ecological transition thanks to the storytelling tool. The second phase involves the construction of a methodological guide, based on the work of the Fabrique des Transitions, in France, and adapted to the dynamics of the priority neighborhoods identified in the study phase. It is the actors of these neighbourhoods who will co-construct and evaluate these tools.<< Results >>The project must provide all communities, stakeholders and residents of priority neighbourhoods in Europe with a complete methodological guide, with variations depending on the particuliarities of the territories. This guide, combined with a toolbox, will be the result of work deeply rooted in the field and carried out by the people who work in those neighbourhoods on a daily basis. Beyond the methodology, the project will create or strengthen a collective and transversal dynamic in the heart of the neighbourhoods, a desire to act with new perspectives and shared and friendly objectives. There is a strong demand across Europe to see new solutions of social transformation emerge, so that territories can finally take hold of these urgent issues, and see in the ecological transition a real opportunity to reinvent themselves collectively and positively."

Living labs are user-centred, open-innovation ecosystems often operating in a territorial context, integrating concurrent research and innovation process within a public-private partnership. The basis for the strategic development of a rural Living Lab is in establishing a sustainable stakeholder partnership; users, policy-makers, companies, researchers enter into agreements on the basis of which they may engage in longer term collaboration. However, a successful Living lab business design can be expected to be highly affected by the specific context of the Living Lab rural environment and by its specific objectives and ambitions. LIVERUR project identifies Living Labs as innovative business models that are currently developing in rural areas, and it will undertake socio-economic analysis to identify, describe and benchmark differences between the new Living Lab approach and more entrepreneurial traditional approaches (mass production, development of prices, optimising the cost structures with the enterprises, rationalisation). LIVERUR project pays particular attention to Living Labs, since they foster a more sustainable mobilisation of resources, improved cooperation between operators along the value chain and lead to new services. Living Lab utilizes the open innovation concept in a wider sense, with success/failure rate determined by empirically based research key factors. Since there is still a lack of empirically grounded studies, the short term objective of LIVERUR is to improve knowledge of business models growing in rural areas, including a through understanding of their potential. In the long term the project will increase the potential for rural economic diversification.

This is of utmost importance as our society are being more and more dependent of digital services. The situation and the problems facing the partner organisations are not unique. According to the OECD, the population share of those of 65 years old and over is expected to climb to 25,1% in 2050. The share of +65 within the EU is 19,7% (Eurostat 2018). This pinpoints the situation as well as the increasing demand of services from the population and a reduced availability of public financial resources. Therefore, the partners believe we need to work at European level in order to find innovative experiences from other territories that can help in rethinking the situation, for increasing and improving innovative activities, services and facilities for an ageing population. All partners in this project face similar problems regarding the ageing population and a growing percentage of the population being elders. Individuals over the age of 65 make up over 20 % of the population in Gävle, adding those at the age of 60 increases the number to 26%. In Paris people age 60 + comprises 470 000 seniors of a total population of 2.2 million. Reggio Emilia also faces challenges in terms of population with links to an ageing population, and emigration of youth.Specifically, we have identified the age group of +70 and having difficulties following digital development as our target group to this project and increasingly being socially isolated. The activities of the project will include transnational meetings which will typically include a mix of activities such as:- Visits and discussions with several different cultural and creative associated partners with the objective to find good ways and means to improve and encourage elders to participate in the cultural life.- Finding and using new and creative ways to use new and existing digital tools fitted for elders to improve there social inclusion.- Thematic talks or masterclasses - Exchange of good practice and experiences between partners- Consultation workshops with relevant local stakeholders as associated cultural partners- Identification, evaluation and analysis of relevant experiences from each event- Project management issues. There will also be events in order for the positive results of the project to be disseminated to the relevant stakeholders on local, national and EU level. An important tool here is the use of EPALE for interested parties to learn of our project, thus being able to contribute, read och evaluate the project before, during and after the the project is over. The methods used are sharing of experience and compiling these experiences and good examples into implementation plans that can be used for activities internationally and locally, in short and long term. The expected results and impacts of the projects are:- finding means, tools and organizational routines to minimize social isolation by combining culture and digital tools.- a shared understanding of the role and impact of social inclusion for an active and healthy ageing with focus on creative use of various digital means and cross generational interactions through different cultural activities such as sharing, for instance experience in digital labs (Gävle), digital city walks (Paris), interactive art museums (Reggio Emilia) as well as:- a common understanding of the role each relevant party (politicians, civil servants, NGOs, seniors) can play in building an Age friendly city that this project is one part of.- new methods and techniques to develop and implement co-operational designs of digital and cultural/creative solutions and services.- more effective engagement of the relevant stakeholders who should be involved in cross sectorial cooperation, including overcoming the generation gap.The long term benefits of this project are also to build an understanding of the importance of more inclusive organisations that create solutions together with the target groups affected to develop new and innovative management tools. This will in the term lead to a more healthy and happy population and will also have positive economic and social effects on society and the organisations.
